      Thank you. 👍 Dug myself a bit of a hole using all the different wattage and fan profiles, it can't be automated easily so I do it all manually. Is very time consuming and frustrating when you find you've not set a bios, pump or fan profile right and have to discard a test, but at least in this instance they lead to some interesting results.

    I bought the Pure Loop 280 less than a month ago, then discovered they've branched out these into 2 separate versions. They said the Silent Loop 2 isn't coming to the US market so that appears to be why. I still found it odd though, I rather liked the pump being separate from the block now they'd integrated it back! I never did use the white led it's to bright. I mean it keeps a 5800x under 85C in Cinebench for what it's worth, not really saying much since the PBO boosts it higher based on temps.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 2 роки тому +1

      yeh all thanks to asetek's ridiculous patents, which only the US seems intent on upholding. how much of the silent loops extra performance is down to the fans remains to be seen, but could be an interesting comparison to test both fans on one cooler.

      Apparently, it is because of licensing, because of the litigious nature of Asetec.

    Good review, yet again. Like the refill aspect of this cooler. A pity that Be Quiet only offer three years warranty on this, thought that they might have stretched to either five or six years.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 3 роки тому +1

      Thanks 😃 Yeh that is a bit short. A lot of them now have 5-6 year warranties and especially with the refill option you'd think they'd extend it. Or maybe that's the cause of shortening it as once opened by the customer, all bets are off? Either way, warranty length is probably a good point to put in the reviews.👍

      @@MakinComputers Well I decided to take to plunge, hopefully not literally in my first AIO water cooled setup.
      a Meshify 2 XL case and then a Arctic Cooler 420mm AIO. With a cost of just under £100 UK pounds and a six years warranty it seems to tick the boxes.
      Point taken with the warranty of the BQ, but they must be aware of the likes of Corsair with five years and AC of six.
      The Arctic range of AIO's do seem to be pretty well respected in their capability and the 420 one should be more than capable.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 3 роки тому +1

      @@Vimes. I've used the Arctic ones in a couple of builds and they're great, so so quiet. Installation is a doddle as all the fans already attached to the rad and wired up to the pump via a cable under the tubing sleeve. They have a thicker rad than most AIOs too which gives them excellent performance. You could probably add a GPU to the loop and it would still be ok 😂

    • @Vimes.
      @Vimes. 3 роки тому +1

      @@MakinComputers Lol.
      Overall it would be difficult to not select an AC branded AIO. Apart from not having control separately for the pump and fans (perhaps you could detach the fan connection if you really wanted and sort that..?) they are most attractive.
      Hopefully it should be fine with my toasty 9900k.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 3 роки тому +1

      @@Vimes. yeh you don't have to leave the fans connected to the pump, could hook them up separately if you wanted, but it's predominantly the fans that are controlled off the single pwm header you plug in. Not sure if it also does pump as well or if that's automated off internal temps.

    I like be quiet products and have installed and used one of the Pure Loop AIOs. 1. This is not available in the US 2. List is $160, but cost is really closer to $195 (150 pounds) based on this review 3. no RGB except on block. Comparing this to the Lian Li Galahad 360 which is $147 and the EKWB Basic 360 at $129, the cooler doesn't offer better performance. A much better deal is the EKWB Elite at nearly the same $200 price tag, but this six RGB fans, a fan/ARGB controller and top level performance. You can get the latter for less than $200 now. The performance of the be quiet certainly keeps up with the top tier AIO from Arctic, Lian Li and EKWB, but at a premium. Some people will not care about RGB, might even prefer not having any at all. In that case the EKWB or Arctic non-RGB are cheaper with the same performance.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 2 роки тому

      That really depends where you're buying it from. The UK price includes 20% sales tax (VAT), without it would be £125 which works out to about $165USD, so close to list price. While it doesn't have a lot of RGB, that's very much by design ethos, the build quality is outstanding and the high speed silent wings 3 fans cost about $25 each on their own, they're be quiets top of the range fan, with the specs and silence to match. That's ultimately what you're paying for.

    • @dennissmith1435
      @dennissmith1435 2 роки тому +1

      @@MakinComputers Sorry, I obscured my point. My point was that if you want a non-RGB AIO with top performance, EKWB Basic will do it and for much less money. The EK has high-speed high static pressure Vardar fans, which are, I think just as quiet and perform just as well, for $129.00. I'm wondering what this AIO offers to warrant a cost of $165. For that same price of $165 you can get an AIO with RGB, if that matters, for $162 from EK or the Galahad 360 for $147. I'm wondering if the pump is actually better, more efficient, more durable? The performance doesn't seem to be better.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 2 роки тому

      @@dennissmith1435 the Vadars that come with the basic are specific to the cooler to lower the cost. They have the same max speed (2200rpm) but are louder than the silent wings (33.5 vs 28.6) with a lower static pressure (2.89 vs 3.37) with a slightly higher airflow (77 vs 73). They also don't have any vibration dampening. The pump and coldplate on the silent loop was a big improvement over the pure loop, it would likely be on a par with the ek one.
      The RGB Vadars that come with the elite are also not the same ones you'd buy separately, with only 1.92mmH2O, 66cfm at 31.5dB. the fans on the Galahad fair a little better at 2.6mmH2O, 69cfm at 32dB, but still fall short of the silent wings 3 in performance and noise.
      What difference does this make in real world performance? Very little in all honesty. You'd probably be able to run the silent loop 2 a little quieter to achieve the same performance, but then they're all likely using slightly different rads with varying fin densities to take advantage of the fans performance curve. In a noise normalised test you might get a difference of a few degrees between them all, but on a CPU that's not going to make any tangible performance gains or losses like you might with the tetchy boost curves on GPUs.
      They're all good coolers, they will all perform well. You can pick whichever suits your taste, build theme and budget, whether that's no RGB, a smidge of RGB, or ALL THE RGB. be quiet's light Wings fans which perform similarly on the silent loop 2 will eventually make their way onto an aio out the box, rather than only being sold separately and then we'll have another option, another level of RGB. More choice is always a good thing for consumers, keeps prices competitive, keeps manufacturers striving for improvements, keeps builds diverse.

    • @ellatino55
      @ellatino55 Рік тому

      I think something not said as much is that be quiet fans are much quieter than Lian Li and Artic at similar performance. While RGB still makes up some of that cost, the Silent Wings are honestly difficult to compare to. I have a o11 eco and tested Artic, Lian Li, and BeQuiet. Ultimately I prefer BeQuiet just on fan noise/performance. It’s also important to note that my pc is much closer to me on my setup and for other reasons, audio fidelity is important to my setup.

AIO can hold temperature and stay quiet during any Ryzen's spikes. It's just better. I used a Fractal Celsius s36 and 28...returned due a pump whine. Also a case's airflow is important. Cheers 🍻

    Interesting You described Your issue with the cpu. I have Asus Strix B450-E gaming motherboard. With first bios that allowed to use Ryzen 9 5900x on B450s I had fantastic results. Every bios update since than cutt my performance down. Curently sitting on version 4301 with AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.1. My cinebench r20 score was 628/8450 without any OC. CPU-Z score was 685.4/9662. Now even with maxed stable PBO and curved optimizer I am unable to reach those numbers again. It could be a) Asus criple performance for purpose to let ppl to buy new mobo b) windows updates criple performance c)I started using AMD chipset drivers insted of Asus ones.

    • @MakinComputers

      yeh it's completely bizzare. the rig had sat off, not being used between this and the K360 reviews. I keep the test bench off the internet to prevent windows upates which can meddle with performance and "may" affect the results. I think it might have had something to do with the MSI software needed for the K360 which I had to uninstall and reinstall several times when it would crash and completely cripple itself. embedding itself god knows where doing god knows what. has been really stable since though.

    I just tested my 'be quiet' Silent Loop 2 360mm at 150 watts on my i9-12900k, on all of my 24 threads and my average temps were 66c Celsius.
    I then tested just 16 threads as in the P-cores and my temps went even higher at 69c Celsius.
    Room temp of 23c. Pump and fans at 100% for ten minutes before testing as well.
    This seems very high to me. Has anyone else tried this?
    I used Easy Tune, CPU-Z and MSI Afterburner.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers Рік тому +1

      Depends how you were testing. How long did you test for, did you immediately test just P cores after all cores when the coolant would be warm already, did you fix the clock speeds and power per core? If you've tested all core at 150w then just pcore at 150w still, those p cores are going to boost way higher and give a more intense concentrated heat source.

      What details would you want from long term testing? It's not like a mouse or keyboard that you actively handle and use everyday. Typical gaming loads aren't as strenuous and this cooler would take them in its stride, most things that would affect performance in the short to mid term would be environmental like dust buildup and dried up TIM, both of which can be fixed. By the time any long term performance figures have any statistical significance, they're irrelevant because the cooler has been replaced and/or not on sale any more.

    Hey, some constructive criticism: You have done a great job testing, but you need to improve on presenting/editing. This should be a ~12 min video, not 18 min. Fewer "tech porn" of the fans at the beginning, shorten the comparison - key differents, thats it. You don't have to explain the testing methods that in depth, if they dont differ significantly from common testing methods.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback. The 'this Vs that' montage was just for a bit of a laugh and probably only 30-40 seconds longer than if I'd read out the specs and features of the fans, drawing a couple of comparisons to the other ones. If you haven't watch the hoonigan 'this Vs that' videos I can understand that you wouldn't really get it, but for those that have it'll be a nice little giggle.
      I totally get your point on testing methods though and will likely keep it much briefer in future videos. Probably seemed like it went on longer because of explaining the problems with the test platform and why data in this review wouldn't match the previous 2 I'd done on the channel.
