I think this artical doesn't talk about warp drive but using antimatter to physically propel space ships close to light speed. I think warp drive is a concept whereby space itself is moved around the spacecraft which would effectively solve the issue of not being able to travel beyond light speed.

we first need a warp engine so but if we had an engine that move space around you you wont need fuel to propel you. One problem is in quantum physics only one particle can hit another and the most power that can be applied will accelerate the hit particle to the speed of light . One particle can drive another one to hit another, but their force cannot be combined . You cannot use 2 particles together two get double the force!

Exactly. This is just pseudoscience dressed up as real science. We don’t have much antimatter, and it turns out to be really unstable stuff that’s dangerous to handle. The only time they ever made anti matter it was 1 tenth of a gram and it only lasted for 10 seconds,so they are not doing this for a very long time and it would cost billions of dollars to make a small amount.

The universe is not full of matter. It might seem like it on earth surrounded by matter, even the air is thick enough with matter that you can feel the wind blow. However when you back away from earth and consider that our universe is almost entirely empty space with a few patches of matter we call galaxies and even those are almost entirely empty space with a few patches we call solar systems, its a pretty empty place. Currently all matter in the Universe makes us less than 0.00000000000000001% of the volume of the universe. The rest is all empty space. This number is shrinking by the day as the space between galaxies continues to expand. So while the total volume of the universe continues to increase exponentially, the amount of matter is slowly reduced as stars burn some of that matter into energy.
I believe there was a study that came out not long ago that potentially invalidates the observing of the universe expanding. Can’t quite remember exactly what it said though.

There are many widely held scientific theories throughout history which have been completely debunked, the stars are gods, the earth is flat, time dilation, just to name a few. It may be that the universe is expanding, but no one has ever come up with any rational explanation for why, or what power source is fueling the expansion. I mean we are expected to believe that countless galaxies are effectively being propelled faster than the speed of light and ever accelerating but there is no power source behind it? Its a little more than ridiculous. We can't even theoretically propel a single rocket to such speeds without supposedly burning all the matter in the universe plus a little more.

If we had a time loop that we could control the space of, we could technically (I think) create infinite antimatter for space travel. But that requires higher dimensions or a false dimension if we could ever create one which is a stretch.
How about making an engine that can go across town without polluting our atmosphere and breaking our wallets.

I doubt NASA has announced this. Whilst there have been small experiments trying to create tiny little space distortions ('warps') and the Alcubierre Drive has been much debated, we're actually centuries away from one if it can be built at all. We can create and trap a few particles of antimatter but to produce enough for a warp drive (and we still don't quite know exactly how to warp spacetime) would cost trillions of dollars. Nope, warp drives are way, way off.
Alquiberres drive doesn't work. I have a super vacuum drive that might, but it would require some seriously powerful ships with crazy amounts of technology. Secondly if you could control a space in a higher dimension and time warp it, you could create infinite antimatter through instant time warp aging. Would be a star trek style reactor.
@@Aurumk1 I think your physics is a little off here. Alcubierre's drive model has been modified, the maths checks out so it should work. Warping spacetime won't create anti matter. Neither will 'time warp ageing' whatever that is?. Time warping is the slowing down or accelerating the passage of time, so where would your energy come from to do that initially?. We have actually created anti matter in particle accelerators. Trouble is, even though we've stored in magnetic fields a few particles of it, the amount needed to power a Star Trek drive (deuterium matter/antimatter fusion) would cost more than the entire GDP of planet Earth, plus take a long time to accumulate.
from matter antimatter can be captured in a trap. You would send matter to age into antimatter in a containment field to another time. Then when it returns it will have aged sufficiently. However this method would likely require so much energy its retarded in itself. However it might be possible to make one trip and collect a significant amount if antimatter is created in this way.
@@Aurumk1 Antimatter doesn't 'age' into matter otherwise the universe would be filling up with it. If you sent some matter, ie. yourself, into the future you'd still be just matter.

From what I understand the difference between matter and antimatter is a mater of the same charges occupying the same space at the same time. In other words the positive electrons of antimatter and positive protons of mater and the negative protons of antimatter and negative the positive electrons of antimatter and the positive protons of mater and the negative electrons of mater and the negative protons of antimatter occupying the same amount space as at the same time. If the law of like repel and unlike attract law is anything to go by mixing like charges occupying the same spaces at the same time would repel each other on a light speed scale. Could it be possible to reverse the forward going inertia accelerating in the forward going accelerating. Instead of pulling back on the acceleration the inertia pulls the acceleration forward in equal amount.
So assuming that we get to a point where we can mass produce antimatter, does that mean we can use it for everything like cars and planes and whatnot?!

They’re working on it; they’ve got the prototype and in 5 years time will need to test it.
Musk has tentative plans to test it when SpaceX sends the first exploration team to Mars and the STARSHIP will have within it that prototype.

We are in space exploration and every energy we will extract from space itself, our Earth have limited capacity of energy, we will find numerous things in space that will be beyond our imagination.
Why warp spacetime when we could just travel around it altogether? Not necessarily through wormholes.

Could warping spacetime for traveling through space be our Mickey Mouse thinking, assuming spacetime is fundamental, so we naively try hard to travel through it when we could just go around?
