Yes! So true, I stopped drawing for about 16 years. I would dabble here and there.
All in all when I got back into drawing recently in the past 2 years. I had to draw everyday. At first my art was so forced and stiff but as time went I I realize how to relax, set up a good mood, and just draw things around my house.
It is surprisingly eye opening to just stop and find a corner, object or space in your house and just draw.
I created some precious little pieces with just simple colored pencils and multi colored pen. It was so great.
Also watching Jess go through her sketch books inspired me to pull out my 3 unfurled sketch books I had when I was in middle school into high school and just look over things and critique myself. Honestly I had amazing portraits. But there was some major fails as well. But I learned from my mistakes. I was able see were my proportions were off, my shading, the flow of my hand was stiff in some drawings while other I recall being more relaxed and holding the pencil back further.
It is very eye opening. Even on the pages were I drew to small and left it blank. It helped me learn to see my space and find composition even if it was just one object.

Not trying to still the show here hahaha!
I am so inspired and so thankful for all the things you are sharing. I love reading through to comments as well and being inspired by others who are also developing their skills.

I loved loved loved this video today! What a great way of saying fear of failure. I've been doing a lot of ink portraits lately and just completed a challenge. I learned very quickly it's very okay to start over with ink if necessary. Can you give tips of starting over and how to relax with it? Love your videos, keep up the great work! Your spread came out fantastic!

Incredible work! My favorite of the two is the one on the right where it's just one person. It feels so calming with the colors even though there are also several pieces and details to it.
I wanted to mention that it's always so nice to see how you use so many different techniques in your art. It reminds me to be open minded in what can be possible, so thank you for that.

Hello, for me the inspiration come by itself without doing research when i begin hearing Heavy metal songs i love them so much and the inspiration for what to draw came by itself effortlessly only by hearing Heavy metal songs and i created a comic with sixty page even that i am not good at writing story's

i started doing realism last year because one i love doing that and second is that i cannnot imagine stuff like before that i had tried doodling but it had gotten so frustrating and infuriating for me because i was not able to imagine. i really love watching your videos because they make me continue on the drawings i make and overall try different ways of doing stuff
