    The problem I found with leather it plain stinks which spooks game! I wrap my takedown bow handle with black sandpaper type anti-slip tape that you can buy at the hardware store. It doesn’t stink and provides a slip tproof grip in rain, snow, humidity and all other weather conditions! Try it! It really works! Great videos. Keep em coming!

    I really prefer Elk hide for longbow grip material. It is non-slip and has a cushioning feel to it. Also, for a really outstanding looking grip wrap is a tightly wrapped rawhide thong available from most hobby stores. 👍

    Dang your sorry hide. Every time you get to showing off your Hill bows I end up with a case of Hill bow fever. I blame you every time.
    That was some good info about the wrap vs stitched grip
    As always. Thanks for taking us along

    Fantastic tutorial on bow grip material. It's amazing how much the grip matters down here in the south with the sweat and deet.

    Great video. Got leather on all my bows but one. Gonna try that tennis wrap next. Take care.

    Never occurred to me to use tennis grip on my longbow. It should've, I was an avid tennis player when I was younger and it made a world of difference on my tennis rackets!

    Makes my day to hear a new video, "Hello everybody!"
    Good video and I use both leather and rubber. Looking forward to some new videos with that new HH Stle bow!

    yep, sweat is a problem here in the south. The humidity makes your hands sweat big time. I like the wrapped as well and have one with beavertail that I added to my selfbow that I made. Really adds to the bow in both looks and feel. It just feels good. To me it only stands to reason to make a bow that you really like, have the grip that you really like. My young mountain cur is almost 8 months old and like a wound up spring, bouncing off the walls and giving our cat fits. Hoping to make a tracking dog out of him for blood trailing deer. I know that he has it in him for sure. yeah, he likes the squirrels big time. Keep em coming Brother

    Yep, my longbows are wrapped in tennis racket wrap. Works really well for me here in AL.

    I like your collection. I don’t have any hill style bows, but a few years ago I had a chance to buy a Sunset Hill bow. 4:58 A fella let me shoot it all day on the NGTA club shoot, and I was amazed at how well it felt in my hand. It was like a natural fit for me. If I run across one again, I will probably buy it.

    Love it. I built 2 selfbows this year, 1 I put that alligator skin and I really like it a lot, the other I used shark skin that I picked up from Big Jim and it’s by far my favorite. The grip is the most important part of the bow, the part you touch every time you shoot, I agree, make it like you want

    Great video Robert. Do you have a video that describes what makes the Hill Style bow unique to say a standard longbow and why you like it Robert?

    Hey Robert, do you make your own strings? And if so what material B55 or D97 etc. ?

    • @robertcarte95
      @robertcarte95  Рік тому

      I don't make strings. I use fast flyte on all my bows.

    Got a question. Recently acquired an old Bear Polar longbow for a good price. I like it but it's got a weird arrow shelf. Instead of being flat or slightly rounded the highest point is almost even with the back of the bow. It slopes up from the belly or grip at a high angle almost like a triangle. What was their reasoning? Should I reshape it?

    • @robertcarte95
      @robertcarte95  Місяць тому +1

      @@larryreese6146 Ive never seen one like that. I don't think I would move it.

      @@larryreese6146 I would check out some of the bear trad sites on Facebook. Someone on there would know.

      @robertcarte95 thanks for the reply. Less interference with the fletching before it leaves the bow? Don't know.
