Love the colors in this one, especially the orange in the sky. It’s so unexpected and gives visual balance to all the warm tones in the foreground. Just gorgeous! I have watched so many of your videos in the last two weeks. Between your brevity, your playfulness, and your friendly voice, I can’t get enough!
Thank you so much! I love that you are enjoying my videos. It means a lot. 😍
I like the colors and the granulation! Plus, the resist lines add a lot of interest.
Thank you! I love the resist lines. 😍
I love the colours and the way you used the paper with crayon. Such a beautiful painting. Thanks
@@ericajacobson1156 thanks so much! 😍
Love the beautiful colors, the granulation in the green is awesome and the white resist worked really well! 🤩😍🤩
Thank you! The resist is my savior for leaving white space. I may need to try some masking fluid soon. 😍
Love this! The stronger intensity watercolor and granulation add lots of interest.
Thank you so much!😍
Love the use of the white crayon/wax - brilliant! 🦘
The white crayon is a fantastic tool. Especially for people like me who can’t preserve white space. Haha! 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina Ive used white crayon with Brushos before but never really thought about using for water colours. I must give it a try.
@@artbyyuna337Oo I’ve never tried using a resist with Brushos before. Will have to try that
You’ve created the Montana scene from atop our Rimrock cliffs looking over the wheat fields and distant hills! colors, textures and all.! I LOVE it!!
OMG! I love when people see something in my work. Thanks so much for your comment. 😍
Thank you Trina from UK. Love your inventive use of different media. Beautiful results 👍🏼❤

Thank you! 😍😍😍
This is my favourite of all your paintings by far. A gorgeous blend of colours, textures & shapes. Looking back on your videos, I can see you have Distress Inks & Oxides. Do you have Distress Oxide Spray in Brushed Corduroy, Stormy Sky & Aged Mahogany? There are other colours you’d enjoy using (Antique Linen, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Frayed Burlap, Black Soot etc), but those 3 in particular are totally in your colour palette & oxidise beautifully with really fun effects (especially the hints of honeyed rust & green you get in Brushed Corduroy). You can use them as paints - either use the spray on a masked off area with water & let them rub, or pour a bit out into a palette & use them as a liquid watercolour (stir before each application to get the ink blend). I often spray them onto my Gelli plate & smoosh paper onto the plate to create cool random textures, or drip them onto a page using a water dropper or the sprayer tube) & since they’re opaque but they oxidise, you can create some super cool effects you can’t get with watercolour. As you know they layer well if you let the bottom layer dry. But you can use watercolour & inks together & I’d love to see those granulating watercolours with the oxidising sprays. Although you can use an ink pad to put down some ink on a surface & just add water to make it easier to use as a paint, I find the Spray Oxides are more versatile for painting. I’d love to see how you could use them for mark making too.
I have a few bottles of oxide spray but I don’t think I have used them with watercolor. I have used the ink pads with my gelli plate and I love the effect. Will try that tomorrow! 😍
Can’t wait to see the results. I bought the sprays as a cost effective alternative to the ink pads & I love the unpredictability. You get more of the random colour separation from the sprays mixed with water than ink from the pads, so they should create more moody sky & landscape textures when used with watercolours. It’s interesting that I have a tendency to be very controlled with my artwork & do a lot of fine details when I try to make something, but what I love most are unpredictable & uncontrollable mediums like Brushos, Oxides, Watercolour & Alcohol inks. Have you ever played with Brushos? Now they are super fun! Especially the black, brown & grey, which have loads of other colours hiding in them. The way they move on wet paper is like fireworks. Karen Rice has done some videos with them embracing their unpredictability, but the true master is Ward Gene Stroud (although his style is very different to yours). Oh & I finally found the type of Eucalyptus bark I mentioned in another of your videos, that your painting reminded me of- it’s a Snow Gum - Eucalyptus Pauciflora - which I used to see a lot of while horseriding in the Brindabella Mountains (where the famous Australian poem “The Man From Snowy River” by Banjo Paterson was set). Looking forward to your next video 😊 Carrie
I haven’t thought of my hakee brush in years but I do know where it is!😂 I never have luck the granulation fluid! Nice job!
Get it out girl! That granualtion fluid failed big time. Might try it with acrylic ink. 🤩

Idk what the trick to it is. I don’t think my watercolor teacher even liked it much and she had pure magic with watercolor paint!
I use a pipette to drop it into wet washes. You can make your own granulation watercolors by adding a touch of Mar's black into each color. If you read the color mixes on granulation watercolor paints, they all have it as an additive.
@@avanellehansen4525 great idea. Thanks!😍
Encantador! Maravilhoso trabalho. Grato!
Gracias! 😍
Wow Trina! Another great work! Love your art and in fact I mentioned you on my previous video. Hope you don't mind, but I made one of your techniques. ❤
Awesome! I don’t mind at all. The techniques are meant to be used and shared. Off to check out your video. Thanks my friend!😍

Pronounced "Hockey", like the sport.
@@avanellehansen4525 thanks. The video I watched was a British lady and she pronounced it differently. 😍
@MixedMediaArtByTrina I've heard it both ways. It is a Japanese brush so I think the two syllable pronunciation is more correct.
It's an eastern-asian name and pronounced [haakey], not American dialect "a"; think English basil, not American basil. 😊
I try to pronounce it correctly,, however, sometimes my Kansas accent gets in the way. Haha! 😂
