Personally I didnt find it very good. They gave a very basic music video and basic city funk pop instrumental, and the whole song didnt really match her strong and powerful voice. They should have given her something more powerful to work with

SMF does have a similar tints, like the genre and clothing, but Killin' has a notable latino beats, that the group has only used sparingly like in Alcohol Free and Push&Pull, while Jihyo's album happily lean more. The overtly suggestive lyrics and choreo are definitely outside TWICE scope for now. Nothing wrong with remaining in it's general vicinity, but happy Jihyo went looking for her own stride. She said next time will try more Jazz, and that sounds amazing.

Okay I gotta say it. Most people hating her are teenagers. They have a very specific taste and only 4th gen kpop caters to that because that's the target demographic. Now, she is a grown woman with a personality of her own and a sound she wants to portray. She chose to swim against the current and stay true to herself wich was a risk and I'm so glad she took it. Her album is mature, rich and very impressive. You can see herself in it and she worked so hard for it. It really shows. It sounds different. It is different. And in my opinion better. Why? It's authentic, fun and...hers. It may not be a popular sound in pop but that doesn't make it bad. Also charts, numbers and whatever don't determine how good things are, just how popular. Idk the logistics that go into debuting a soloist, but 500k is still really good especially since you don't have members to fill in the gaps for you. Speaking rough numbers here, 500,000 x $20 (relative cost of an album) can gross $10,000,000+.

Its sad how the structure of music has changed in kpop. Every group ruling the charts literally only cares about releasing easy sounding music paired with shallow and repetitive lyrics and is more leaning on having just beats and then the choreography. Once you have those you'll gaurantee that you'll stay on top of the charts. I'm more than thankful this is how Jihyo's album came out, everything felt so genuine AND she's 100% involved in the making. Jihyo's song arrangement is better than majority of kpop song. Why do charts even matter when the majority Kpop songs now are bland and obviously made with streaming and tik tok in mind. They at least gave Jihyo the opportunity to write the majority of lyrics and compose the majority of songs on this album, so everything in it is coming straight from her. SMF does have a similar tints, like the genre and clothing, but Killin' has a notable latino beats, that the group has only used sparingly like in Alcohol Free and Push&Pull, while Jihyo's album happily lean more. The overtly suggestive lyrics and choreo are definitely outside TWICE scope for now. Nothing wrong with remaining in it's general vicinity, but happy Jihyo went looking for her own stride. She said next time will try more Jazz, and that sounds amazing.

Okay I gotta say it. Most people hating her are teenagers. They have a very specific taste and only 4th gen kpop caters to that because that's the target demographic. Now, she is a grown woman with a personality of her own and a sound she wants to portray. She chose to swim against the current and stay true to herself wich was a risk and I'm so glad she took it. Twice has reached their peak. Jihyo's album wasn't a grand success but it definitely wasn't a flop. It was such a bop. Not every song needs to top the charts or shit. Some artists make genuine music with love not only to gain fame. Although Twice is a very famous name now. They have already achieved more than enough in the entertainment industry. Twice and their members will be unforgettable in kpop history. I wish they keep making music from love as ONCE will never abandon them. Its sad how the structure of music has changed in kpop. Every group ruling the charts literally only cares about releasing easy sounding music paired with shallow and repetitive lyrics and is more leaning on having just beats and then the choreography. Once you have those you'll gaurantee that you'll stay on top of the charts. I'm more than thankful this is how Jihyo's album came out, everything felt so genuine AND she's 100% involved in the making. Jihyo's song arrangement is better than majority of kpop song. I don't want her to become a trend hopping artists to keep her relevant.

Why do charts even matter when the majority Kpop songs now are bland and obviously made with streaming and tik tok in mind. They at least gave Jihyo the opportunity to write the majority of lyrics and compose the majority of songs on this album, so everything in it is coming straight from her. If it’s not for you, that one thing, music is subjective, but I’ll take actual art that doesn’t chart well but has meaning over manufactured songs that were made with charting in mind any day

I believe there’s a thing as TOO MUCH content. Twice had a comeback, still on their world tour, film UA-cam content, Misamo debuted and now Jihyo. JYP is finally branching out besides mainly group promotions but it feels like they’re trying to do so much until whenever their contract expires again. jihyo has amazing singing and dancing skills, great stage presence too. but that song was just not it. jihyo is one of the best performers in 3rd generation (and in kpop in general), so giving her such a boring/outdated song is so confusing to me. she has so much potential to shine in solo, yet jyp wasted this opportunity.
