As much as WCW was coming apart at the seams during this period, there was still plenty of great stuff on Nitro, like Goldberg and Conspiracy Victim Jericho. They 100% could have turned it around in 1998... Even in 99 all the way up until the Fingerpoke of Doom. Nobody could have saved WCW after the fingerpoke.
I was watching WCW religiously during the Nitro Era. I agree. I just say that it was basically over by KoTR 98. Once Austin lost the title and Mankind was thrown off the cage. The RAW after KoTR was a banger. Then KoTR made it to Blockbuster on VHS (where I was working at in 98) right around the time for Summerslam (Austin/Taker) which was heavily marketed in commercials etc... There was no coming back after fall 98. They could exist but never again would they be #1. I bought Starrcade 98 out of habit, the card was absolutely GARBAGE and gave up on WCW completely with the fngerpoke.
@@The_Fuj Agreed that there is no way they were beating WWE in late 98 and 99 and 2000. As much trash as there was at this time in WWE, the Stone Cold vs McMahon feud was so white hot, plus The Rock comes into his own in late 98 and then becomes fully formed in 99. Still, WCW could have continued on and been profitable had they got their shit together and who knows what the wrestling world would have looked like in 2003 or 2004 had WCW held on the Jericho and Benoit and Eddie? TNA wouldn't have existed, they could have gotten AJ and Daniels. It's possible they could have beaten WWE in the mid 2000s, but no way were they beating WWE during the height of Rock & Austin.
'99 wasn't great, but '99 in WWF was just insane. 2000 WCW really sucked, while WWF went into another planet with there writing. Mid to late 1999 was when WCW was finished.
Everyone in my neighborhood was obsessed with WCW during this summer. I have fond memories of it even though it was awful in hindsight. The nWo Black & Red was a complete desecration of the original nWo storyline, but I loved them as a kid.
This must have been around the time when the boys recorded their infamous rants for the WCW Thunder video game on the PlayStation considering Scott Steiner calls himself "The Superstar" in his.
Rip Tim White 😢
This was when I was going all in on WCW while all my friends were jumping ship and heading over to the McMahon's.
Loving these. Thanks Fuj
Word... that's crazy.
I had posted further down, I was starting to check out around this time and flipping to RAW.
@@The_Fuj took me a couple more months but I got there.
Yes, it is Lynn Denton. Edward Lynn Denton. He just went by ''Len'' though. I just read the Grappler's book lol.
You’re a hero for this. I’ve got the episodes downloaded but not on my phone.
Fuj, thank you. I needed this so much.
You good?
@@The_Fuj yeah, rough night at work.
Jesus Christ, that NWO Drunk episode.
