Thank you for your videos. I studied German in (American) high school for three years, almost 50 years ago! I am now learning German mainly through videos and tutorials on the internet. I purchased you book "Jens und Jakob" part 1 receiving it today from Amazon. I will start reading the book tomorrow. Vielen Dank!

I've learned german by only speaking with my Austrian wife. Literally have done nothing else and I have a high A2 level after three months. Start with small talk, how are you, how did you sleep, how was work. Basically just smalls convos, try to find a topic that interests you. Example, i talk to my wife about boxing in german because it's my favorite sport and I find it easier I communicate. Learn new words! Whether with memrise or by listening to people speaking. I've been learning german and the local dialect at the same time and it's easier to do it like this.

Good advice. My husband is German but he doesn't want to communicate to me in Deutsch. I try very hard to communicate to him in my broken Deutsch so that I can know and improve my Deutsch but he doesn't like it. He says am wasting his time and I must learn at school not with him. He only speaks in English to me and it makes me sad because now that we are living in Germany I need to know the language and I thought I will be practicing with him, but it's a disaster

Hallo.wie geht es dir? Ich komme Aus Afrika und ich lebe in Deutschland seit März 2017...ich habe ein bisschen Deutsch gelernt und ich spreche ein wenig Deutsch.. I have to learn the integration course soon. I teach myself a bit and watch your videos on UA-cam .when Iam alone I can speak and write a bit to myself but when Iam with germans or when I meet them Iam scared to say a word ,I always think like of I say wie geht es dir they will ask me more hard German and I will not understand.
so what can I do to remove the fear and be open to everyone?.

That's a great point. Not only must a learner be allowed to choose who can correct them, but also how and when to intervene and provide guidance for them. Everyone has a different style of learning and getting involved in their learning process every two seconds to correct them is so damaging and it may make the learner feel exposed as -dumb or low-skilled person- .
