The Dixie Hummingbirds perform "When I Found Jesus Christ" during a music showcase at the 2004 American Gospel Quartet Convention in Birmingham Alabama.
Ira Tucker,Sr was the only original Dixie Hummingbird that lived longer than the others. Most of the Dixie Hummingbirds died before him. He's gone to heaven to join his most of his group. I want to thank you for posting this video of my grandfather Ira B. Tucker Sr. Its such a beautiful feeling to know that my grandfather touched so many people around the world! I miss him so much! Its hard to watch these videos but I'm so greatful to you for keeping my grandfathers spirit alive! I can see and hear him at anytime. Pray for me. I saw a young man in the ally near our church and asked him if he would get about four or five young men together to help me start a group like the Dixie Hummingbirds. I am praying every day that he will not forget and that he will bring his friends back to at least try so we can remember where we came from in gospel music. My Lord these were true Giants in Great Gospel Music!
Did you see the late great Tucker look up when somebody missed the note around the 1:30 mark. His ear was second to none. Love the birds. Anybody know what happened to Carl Davis?
