My farher had really a bad accident in 2002 with this car. The whole car was so wrecked, competely destroyed. However, the cockpit completely immaculate and my father unscatched
The W202 was essentially an improvement on the W201, a car designed by Bruno Sacco, a man who despite being an all around design genius, was specifically obsessed with safety, so it makes sense, most if not all of the Mercedes he designed were incredibly safe, and not just for their time, even today their amazing!
I loved owning this car back in the day, I always wished it came with the 5.4l but it was still fun. I've been looking for clean one to run into the ground as a daily driver for a while now.
yep yep this car is like a tank inside out, the current c class is like a plastic skateboard. just test driven the latest c63 AMG last week. fancy sounds but feels not quite so right. a real AMG car should run like a hammer on the road, not like a Christmas tree with speakers lol
I got one of those C43 AMG's. But my eyes aren't as good as they were, and it gets places too fast - before I can focus. But I am still alive and haven't hurt anyone yet.
+Mark C yes yes about 10 mpg city 20 mpg hwy in average. actually the previous owner didn't inform me that the fuel gauge was not working so the first day I drove it home from Ohio the fuel gauge kept pointing full even the empty tank light was on...lol
+efini7799 haha Liberty , that's worse than my old focus ST I used to moan about. Avg 18-20mpg perhaps 28-30 on a long run. Including Motorway, But when I got rid petrol was about £1.30 litre. So it was juicy And That as Nice is it is would be a Nightmare.
the motor remains stock (4.3L V8), the only thing I had done is the eisenmann exhaust and mid-resonator deleted. I believe the straight pipe after cat converter made the sound. at the beginning I just put the exhaust on and it sounds not that loud but a week later I deleted the mid-resonator and it turned out like this.
Yep I absolutely agree with you. However, I moved out from the country 2 years ago and couldn't bring this beauty with me. I sold my '94 Mazda Miata at the same time. Now I have a '89 Alfa Romeo Milano, my friends always call me "trouble-seeker" lol.
welcome to the fam, first of all, please pay more attention on the gearbox, noises and shift difficulties might be signs of gearbox problems. also, the engine mount might be worn out due to its age. check the condition of yours. if you have more time and budget, check the condition of your spark plugs too. misfire and low cylinder pressure were problems happened on me before. otherwise w202 has a very solid body and good interior quality. its a very nice and reliable ride and is worthy to drive with. enjoy it and good luck!
+efini7799 the one im looking at is a 1999 with 150k miles....he replaced the coil packs but there's still a check engine light (he says it MIGHT be o2 sensor). Also a small leak in the radiator but otherwise solid according to him. Tranny not slipping, no leaks in the differential He's asking 3500. Is that suspiciously low? Im seeing the car tomorrow.
well the price is relatively low compares with other '99 models. I sold mine for $7,000 3 years ago so I think somewhere around $4,500-$5,000 is reasonable now depends on overall conditions. Sometimes the check engine light might not be as easy as an o2 sensor problem. Test drive it and feel if there is any unusual vibrations and noises from the engine. you may also shift into neutral and let the engine runs for a while and feel it. Good luck on your treasure hunting journey.
Ohh okay, I'm currently looking at a 1999, c230 with 35K miles for 7900Canadian should i low ball him for say 5.5k considering how hard parts are to find for these ? (keep in mind its still in mint condition)
+Kevin Perez well 35k miles is extremely low for w202 for sure, but c230 is not an easy one to maintain bcuz of the supercharger and other related parts. 5500 is def a low ball to the seller but relatively a reasonable offer for W202 cuz its an "almost 20 years old" car, not a "35k miles only" car. personally I like the 202's design and superior interior quality, but a supercharged Mercedes needs more attention and more $$ on it. good luck
+Jonathan Naranjo those rims are from W210 E55 AMG, directly fit with W202 with no fender roll needed. The tire sizes are 225/40/18 front, 255/35/18 rear
that's the Monoblock from W210 E55, 18'' and staggered rear front 225-40-18, rear 255-35-18, and my car was 2.5 inch lowered. (maybe more? can't remember)
I hate lots of fucking people want buy a fucking 10 years old car and cheap German car and show off. Why just buy a Toyota Corolla , even Corolla is better than these
FSG believe it or not...this car will last longer then modern cars. i had one and in the end it had more then 400.000 km on the engine and it still drove like new.
I can tell you're pretty stupid and won't even be able have the money to own this car because of how stupid you are man, this AMG will last 15+ years with the necessary repairs and still speed and keep up with cars today, for my dad has the same one.
One of the best cars of all times
@Kylle Goldberg its reccomnded new drivers learn on low hp cars first
@Kylle Goldberg yah, once you actually put some time in to it get used to it you'll want to go faster
Love that wind noise.

days go by now we all know the 202's C43 is a real neo-classic. no more naturally aspirated V8 especially for a D segment sedan...sad

Wonderfull car! More than actual C class.

Deco nice cars are AMG's they sound like neat petrol being gurgled . I bet the fuel gauge needle goes down as fast as the Rev counter goes up.

I miss my 96 c220
Oh how i wish I can convert from my '97 C200 to this C43 AMG
Nabil Shamsudin 15000$ best case
kantemir schogen well, it's the transport system in my country that would make it hard to have these.
Same haha 98 C200 here ✋🏻😂
I have a 98 c43 and I want that exhaust! Where can I get it?!?!
so the Eisenmann exauhaust (by itself) got you that throaty growl? or what else was done to the motor?
the motor remains stock (4.3L V8), the only thing I had done is the eisenmann exhaust and mid-resonator deleted. What the hell did you get rid of it for? ? It's perfect! A hand built timeless collectible!

efini7799 Ok so what I remember is, if you buy c43, don't sell it. I'm gonna buy one soon. Is it easy to put the same exhaust system ?

How much would this car cost when you had it ?
Hi Kevin, I paid USD8000 for it on 2011 with 110K miles, not a super great deal but for a rare beast it is worth to own one.
Ohh okay, I'm currently looking at a 1999, c230 with 35K miles for 7900Canadian should i low ball him for say 5.5k considering how hard parts are to find for these ? (keep in mind its still in mint condition)

LInda!
what size wheels are these?
those are 18" AMG monoblock
+efini7799 what do these 18's originally come off and are they a direct fit for the w202? what size tires are recommended ?
+Jonathan Naranjo those rims are from W210 E55 AMG, directly fit with W202 with no fender roll needed. The tire sizes are 225/40/18 front, 255/35/18 rear
Keep the camera inside the car while recording, all I hear is wind!! :(
Rims size anyone ?
that's the Monoblock from W210 E55, 18'' and staggered rear
front 225-40-18, rear 255-35-18, and my car was 2.5 inch lowered. (maybe more? can't remember)

A corolla isn't rare. Plus I love owning my c43 would never trade it for a shit Corolla.
FSG You're either a troll or plain old jealous. This car is pretty badass.
FSG believe it or not...this car will last longer then modern cars. i had one and in the end it had more then 400.000 km on the engine and it still drove like new.
FSG Toyota your nuts that's a Benz and they hold their class and luxury. You sound like a broke person who can only afford a Toyota lol
I can tell you're pretty stupid and won't even be able have the money to own this car because of how stupid you are man, this AMG will last 15+ years with the necessary repairs and still speed and keep up with cars today, for my dad has the same one.
