I don't know if I need a full cast for an audiobook. I quite like the a-person-reads-to-me aspect rather than listening to a whole performance. Especialy when the person reading the book is Stephen Fry, love that guy and love his voice
I love Stephen’s voice, I take ever change I get to listen to the audiobooks from cleaning the house to driving and I love how he brings each character a voice. When the new audiobooks come out I’ll listen to them, it be like reading or in this case listening to the books for the very first time. ❤ I cannot wait
I love the audiobook narrations of both, these new editions will be a nice add on to my collection as well. It seems like it will bridge the line between a book and a movie/tv show.
I hope they bring some of the actors from the movies to reprise their roles in these audiobooks like Helena Bonham Carter doing Bellatrix or Gary Oldman doing Sirius
I was genuinely semi-interested... until I heard 'diverse', I wouldn't mind the best actor for the role, but this is a spoken-word piece that has no visuals... I'm not interested in checklists for this, thanks.
@@rook9860 My problem with that was Cursed Child's Hermione sounded absolutely nothing like Emma Watson. The actors for Harry and the others were at least in the neighborhood. Maybe that's just me, but I'm blind so voices are how I identify people. I was genuinely like, that's Hermione speaking?
Jim Dale's Hermione voice makes me groan and roll my eyes but I love them. 😂 I do love Stephen Fry's less raspy voice though and I love them too. The voice reading I love the most though was by actor/voice actor John Voth during 2020. He was reading the books for the first time and created voices on the fly with description help from us listeners. We really had fun when he got to Deathly Hallows and was introduced to Bathilda Bagshot because all we would give him for a description was "She's very old". 😂
A "diverse" cast? How about a great cast? Gender, etnicity, etc. doesn't impress me. All that matters is whether or not the voice actor can do the job well.
1:46 is where you lost me. HP is diverse. Dean Thomas is black, the Patils are Indian, Cho, Asian. Why can't the best voice actors get the role? You won't see them anyway... How would we know there was enough 'inclusivity'?
Poor Dean though...they were all full up on Black Brits, so my poor brother has the thickest New York accent because African-American was the final shimmering box. Stay strong Dean Thomas.

I'd want some expansions. For example during Vernon's day at work, I want him shouting at people as summarized in the book.

I hope so too!

Yep bs like that is how you end up with an African Hermione. Ie cursed child

ohHhh interesting, I have never heard of John Voth, will check him out.
But are they gonna be reading from the UK versions or the US? If it’s US it’s a no from me
Oh thank the Gods! I was worried it wasnt going to have diversity, equity, and inclusion. Now i can die happy. Jesus fucking christ
Haha
Are those covers specific to the audiobook?
Jim Dale for me.
I'm a bit pumped
Same!

Yeah, I think it’s just buzz words they used to impress the general public
