Mariel thank you so much for this in depth interview! Tonya’s 2001 album is such an inspiration for my music & I really enjoyed hearing more about her. Very glad she’s doing well!🤗💿✨
I think Tonya Mitchell was my favorite interview you did so far. I knew her name and face, but never listened to her music. I think I assumed she was country. Did you ever hear of an Alecia Elliott? She was a younger female singer who released a country/pop album in 2000. Also, I love how you mention the top pop girls of 2000/2001 like Amanda, Mikaila, Brooke Allison, Kaci, etc. I knew Amanda by name and face, but not her music. I'll check her out! Mikaila, Myra, Brooke Allison, Lindsay Pagano, Kaci, and Nikki Cleary were all a year or two older than me back in the day. All of those girls were my idols in some way. Kaci is my favorite! I think she's gorgeous, and a great singer! I loved her dance songs she did later.
Im so glad I found this interview. Tonya is definitely one of my favorites of the 2000s. I would LOVE to hear a re-record of the album, or at least a few songs. I relistened to the album straight through last weekend and all the words flooded back to my brain' vocal cords, lol!
Would you ever consider interviewing one of the guys from Five? I know Ritchie Neville does podcast type interviews. Sean Conlon and Scott Robinson are still in Five with Ritchie. J and Abz aren't in the band, anymore.
@@marieltalkspop Oh, yes! That makes sense. Their first album was definitely their personality. Their second and third albums were good, but the styles were more scattered.
Dis was dope! 1 of my fav vocalist 🖤 her tone. Alot of questions I had were answered. 1 ting tho, her album IS NOT Bubblegum Pop. And u kept saying it lol NOTHING Sonically about the Tonya Mitchell debut album is BGPop. Da genre it falls in is Pop/R&B it could even be considered Urban Pop DEFINITELY NOT Bubblegum. Especially during dat era compared to all the other releases by recording artist of the time.

I would love to! I have tried to contact them before, but I will keep insisting 😊
@@marieltalkspop That's cool! In your country, was Five well known? I'm American, so they weren't as known.
@@melastac They had moderate success with their album “Invincible”. But they weren’t as big as BSB or *NSync.

@@marieltalkspop Who of the guys was saying no? I think it'd be a great way to get their name out there to do interviews.

I loved Tonya's album - best pop music!
I wonder if the reason she was suddenly dropped was because of Britney / Justin etc. Was Tonya a threat to Britney?
