I just finished Little Thieves last night and loved it! The first book reads a bit like a standalone (or at least the adventure we're on in the book wraps up well) and the next book is a new adventure but same cast :') It was a little rough to get into it, possibly because of my concentration issues due to this sluuuump, but i hit a point in the book where i was like 'oh here it is' and from that moment i was so in love :')
YAY! It's my #1 for 2023, I absolutely adored it! Emeric and Vanja make such a good couple and the twists and turns are all fantastic! So glad you enjoyed it!!

Because, I had never read Little Thieves before, it was recommended to me by a friend of mine (who I worked with at Barnes & Noble), and I wanted to DEVOUR Painted Devils. But, I had to wait over a year to read the digital ARC (and THEN had to wait for the actual book). I had never read any of Margaret Owen's books, and LT made me insta-buy her books. I know how both the sprayed edge Illumacrate's versions of LT and PD. * I WILL warn you: PD ends on a cliffhanger. I about threw a fit because I wanted so much more from my precious Vanja. (Also, her and Emeric are AMAZING. Emeric is such a gentleman. And how he treats her is healthy, with not even a hint of toxicity). Might want to read that one closer to the end of 2024, so you won't have to wait longer than necessary. BUT, if 100 Holy Terrors are preordered (or 200 in general), Ms. Owen will release a collection of short stories!
Exactly! The first book in my opinion was the most boring one, starting with book 2 it gets sooo much better, I couldn't put it down. I love how the whole series is on a crescendo though, evolving and getting better and better book by book.

I read Ember in the Ashes a few months ago, and I have to say it was one of the BEST beginnings to a series I have read in a loooooong time. Have the next ones on my TBR to get to ASAP. I loved the world, the characters, and the stakes. The writing was also excellent. I recommend it to a lot of people who want a finished series.
hey, here from the near-distant future to say ninth house isn't a duology, it's an incomplete trilogy! someone asked leigh bardugo almost a year ago now on good reads if there will be a third book and this is what she had to say: "Yes! Ok, so I originally wanted this to be a much longer series. Think 12 books of Alex Stern investigating supernatural crime and corruption. But these stories take a tremendous amount of time to research and write, so 12 became 5, and then 5 became 3. My intention right now is to keep this a trilogy and that's the way I've planned the plot of the third book. Hopefully the wait won't be quite as long for the final installment. (thank you for your patience!)" so yeah! Here's to the third Alex Stern book that'll probably be out in like 2025 :)

for me it's a duology tbh. i LOVED the first book, and then the second was a disappoitment and ended quite well in my opinion, so i have no intentions to continue.
I just started that book a few days ago and HOLY SHIT it's awesome. Bardugo's a writer I didn't pay much attention to, because my luck with YA has not been great, but turns out she can WRITE. I'm thrilled there's to be a third book!
I LOVE LEGENDBORN it’s my favorite series but sheesh it feels like I’ve been waiting forever for this book thinking it’s the last one 😭😭 it’s fun to know there’s much more to come though!
immediately added villains and virtues to my tbr. made me think of the manga Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, where the villains are trying to villain but aren’t necessarily always great at it / have mellowed out.

I liked the first book, but the second and third books...❤❤❤ I wasn't sure I will read them after the first book, because It was good but not that big, I'm so happy I read the second book, that is my favorite from the trilogy
I'm SO happy to finally see Villains and Virtues get the love it deserves, it's my top read of the year and I can't stop recommending it!! A. K Caggiano deserves all the love for it and any fantasy romance reader should have it on their radar
One thing that really helps me when a long time goes by between books in a series is when booktubers do either recaps or like what you do with the wall and the pictures that catches you up. So please keep doing that!!

@@hollyheisermanok so now is the disclaimer… SPOILER seriously don’t continue if you haven’t read the book… I think it’s when we learn who the assassin and who the prince are 😂 ( you know the scene where Lia and her friend are leaving Terravin) But maybe you already knew and that’s why you didn’t feel like it was a huge plot twist, but maybe I am wrong and she is referring to another scene ( but I doubt it). 🙌☺️ Also I haven’t read the last one so please if anyone responds don’t spoil it 😭

My favorite finished series has to be Scythe by Neal Shusterman. The world-building and the characters are all exceptional ( If you like dystopia). I'd also recommend Sisters of Salt by Erin A. Craig. There are actually two books out and one that comes out in 2026 but they can be read as stand-alone as the books tell the stories of different sisters from the same family. The first book is described as a retelling of the twelve dancing princesses but horror and it's amazing.
Throne in the Dark was a great read. I finished the 1st book, ready to take on the remaining two. Damien and Amma are so funny together 😅 “Resting villain face” is epic 🤍
I'm currently reading my first Sanderson - The Stormlight Archive. a few days ago I finished "The Way of Kings" and gosh... I fell in love. For me this is the peak of fantasy. Now I'm starting the second volume, something amazing. the character designs are so unique - Kaladin is probably my favorite literary hero at the moment. Besides, Dalinar, Jasnah and even Navani have a lot of potential. in love with fantasy again🥰
this woven kingdom is AMAZING!! tahereh mafi never lets down!!! just gonna warn you tho that the second book is still really good but it was literally 30% plot and 70% vibes/angst

i read daughter of smoke and bone when it came out when i was a kid and i was OBSESSEDDD i love it so much .. still holds up so well over so many rereads :') happy to see her getting some love
YES The Last Hours gave me major Winter vibes, especially Chain of Iron. Thorns was pretty good for me but I did feel like a lot of punch was held back. Cassie did say it was going to be A LOT sadder but then C*vid hit and she said she couldn’t write a very tragic ending.

Kiss of Deception was really fun! I would personally recommend reading it before Dance of Thieves because I think it does have some spoilers for Kiss of Deception, especially if they're read close together so there isn't enough time to forget lol. I think it refers back to a couple big plot events and the inclusion/mention of certain characters in their current state would let the reader know some of what happens in Kiss of Deception.
This Woven Kingdom book 3's cover is ssooo prettyy, to me; I love-love love its color scheme-it looks like an opal, or maybe a fire topaz, or something! 🤭🤭😊💖
I never read the Shatter Me series but picked up This Woven Kingdom a couple of months ago and just finished the second on, These Infinite Threads,” and I love them! The pace is good and they just make me so excited! Definitely recommend! Excited for the third one in February!
OMG Daughter of Smoke and Bone was my favourite back in hs! I had no one to talk about it with and I wasn't well connected online but omg I hope it comes back to popular books. Loved it. It was my escape and I also finished the trilogy in like a week.
The Bear and the Nightingale is quite slow but WONDERFUL and the intrigue is developed constantly throughout. Books 2 and 3 are much faster paced (and also fabulous) and left me breathless with the twists and turns of the plot. I've never immediately started rereading a series since I was little and reading Harry Potter or anything by Tamora Pierce, but as soon as I finished Book 3 I started rereading The Bear and the Nightingale.

I usually plan what im going to read - this was the first book in a while I just dived into blind. I couldn’t put it down! It’s such an imaginative, wintery hidden gem! Snowy forests, wolves, and magical libraries… It’s also sort of a standalone! There’s a second book (I haven’t read yet) but the plot is different. Highly recommend to anyone reading this :)🌲

Thanks to this video I picked up "The Bear and the Nightingale" trilogy and devoured it in 3 days! Now my only problem is figuring out which series to binge next!
KISS OF DECEPTION IS MY FAVORITE SERIES EVER when i saw it on the thumbnail of this video I screamed!!! ur one of my fav booktubers and no one talks about this enough so it was a real treat to hear you talk about it (...maybe do a whole video about each book...) ok now: SPOILERS . . . Ok, perf. this series threw me for a loop bc i was like ooh a cute little romance and then i was like dang a love triangle (and one of them wants to kill her) and then its like BOOM and you go straight into action and political drama. the way that it is written is so mystical and beautiful and i love it so much. also, when you find out that this takes place in the FUTURE?? jaw. dropped. it killed me. i literally started the series over as soon as i finished it to pull out the little teases to pur modern world. also i love the romance and how rafe accepts lia's agency while also caring about her safety and when he becomes too overbearing lia immediately stops him and doesnt put up with his bs. i love the 'magic' system and how lia learns to trust herself... I love everything in it
i loved the books but i loved kaden so much and despised rafe so i couldnt get past the second book 💔💔💔 like my heart was BREAKING for kaden every time she lied to him :(
Not a finished series but I’m personally super excited about Tasmyn Muir’s Alecto the Ninth. I binged the first three books right at the beginning of my sophomore year of university and I don’t think I’ve ever been grabbed by a trilogy (now a quadrilogy) the same way these books do. The world is so interesting to unpack since it’s all revolving around necromancy, and Gideon and Harrow could not be more charming. Please take a read if you like action packed plots with slowly unraveling mysteries!!!
Same I'm GASPING for Alecto the Ninth, the DEATHGRIP these books have on my heart I just can't- TOR first slated it for late 2023, but that's clearly not happening (ARCs and cover art haven't even released), so I'm hoping for an early 2024 release. 🤞

I tried starting to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone at least three times since it originally came out and, for whatever reason, attempt number four was finally the right one. I’m about to properly start Dreams of Gods and Monsters! For anyone who may be interested: The first book is very introductory. It’s a good read, but the series reveals so much more and really expands in scope starting with the second one.

That combined with the unknowns at the end of roots and ruin has led many to believe she’ll go back to that story but either way it won’t be in the next book. Not only is 2026 over 2 years away, it won’t be about Verity it will be about Lenore, so even if we get another book with Verity it won’t be for YEARS. It is an unfinished series.

I'm finishing up the Queen's Thief series. I'm on the last book. The first four I read when I was in college and only just recently found out about the 5th and 6th books. I understand that readers don't wish their favorite series to end, but I always give up on a series that has more than 4 books😅. Caz, as far as I've experienced, either the initial plot gets wholly diverted, or I get bored
You need to read the finished trilogy of The Winners curse by Marie Rutkoski, is very similar to the Amber in the Ashes series and you will loved it, specially the second and third book, besos desde España 💜

I'm currently reading my first Sanderson - The Stormlight Archive. a few days ago I finished "The Way of Kings" and gosh... I fell in love. For me this is the peak of fantasy. Now I'm starting the second volume, something amazing. the character designs are so unique - Kaladin is probably my favorite literary hero at the moment. Besides, Dalinar, Jasnah and even Navani have a lot of potential. in love with fantasy again🥰
this woven kingdom is AMAZING!! tahereh mafi never lets down!!! just gonna warn you tho that the second book is still really good but it was literally 30% plot and 70% vibes/angst
The Bear and the Nightingale trilogy were very good audiobooks, too. One of my favorite reads of this year

YES The Last Hours gave me major Winter vibes, especially Chain of Iron. Thorns was pretty good for me but I did feel like a lot of punch was held back. Cassie did say it was going to be A LOT sadder but then C*vid hit and she said she couldn’t write a very tragic ending.

LITTLE THIEVES!!!!! Genuinely one of my favourite books! It kickstarted my reading in late may and I ended up reading 100 books since then
Kiss of Deception was really fun! I would personally recommend reading it before Dance of Thieves because I think it does have some spoilers for Kiss of Deception, especially if they're read close together so there isn't enough time to forget lol. I think it refers back to a couple big plot events and the inclusion/mention of certain characters in their current state would let the reader know some of what happens in Kiss of Deception.
the ninth house series isn’t over! it was originally meant to be 7 books but she’s changed it to a trilogy it wasn’t a duology🫶🏽
The Bear and the Nightingale is amazing as an audio book. Honestly super creepy at points and very well done.

I never read the Shatter Me series but picked up This Woven Kingdom a couple of months ago and just finished the second on, These Infinite Threads,” and I love them! The pace is good and they just make me so excited! Definitely recommend! Excited for the third one in February!

OMG Daughter of Smoke and Bone was my favourite back in hs! I had no one to talk about it with and I wasn't well connected online but omg I hope it comes back to popular books. Loved it. It was my escape and I also finished the trilogy in like a week.
The Bear and the Nightingale is quite slow but WONDERFUL and the intrigue is developed constantly throughout. Books 2 and 3 are much faster paced (and also fabulous) and left me breathless with the twists and turns of the plot. I've never immediately started rereading a series since I was little and reading Harry Potter or anything by Tamora Pierce, but as soon as I finished Book 3 I started rereading The Bear and the Nightingale.

Ur brows and the pin look so cute!!! Also, the other week, i randomly picked up Echo North from my library. I usually plan what im going to read - this was the first book in a while I just dived into blind. I couldn’t put it down! It’s such an imaginative, wintery hidden gem! Snowy forests, wolves, and magical libraries… It’s also sort of a standalone! There’s a second book (I haven’t read yet) but the plot is different. Highly recommend to anyone reading this :)🌲
I will say, while there is plot and character driven stuff, it is vibe heavy at times! (Not a criticism from me)

Ok, perf. this series threw me for a loop bc i was like ooh a cute little romance and then i was like dang a love triangle (and one of them wants to kill her) and then its like BOOM and you go straight into action and political drama. the way that it is written is so mystical and beautiful and i love it so much. also, when you find out that this takes place in the FUTURE?? jaw. dropped. it killed me. i literally started the series over as soon as i finished it to pull out the little teases to pur modern world. also i love the romance and how rafe accepts lia's agency while also caring about her safety and when he becomes too overbearing lia immediately stops him and doesnt put up with his bs. i love the 'magic' system and how lia learns to trust herself... I love everything in it
i loved the books but i loved kaden so much and despised rafe so i couldnt get past the second book 💔💔💔 like my heart was BREAKING for kaden every time she lied to him :(
Not a finished series but I’m personally super excited about Tasmyn Muir’s Alecto the Ninth. I binged the first three books right at the beginning of my sophomore year of university and I don’t think I’ve ever been grabbed by a trilogy (now a quadrilogy) the same way these books do. The world is so interesting to unpack since it’s all revolving around necromancy, and Gideon and Harrow could not be more charming. Please take a read if you like action packed plots with slowly unraveling mysteries!!!

I tried starting to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone at least three times since it originally came out and, for whatever reason, attempt number four was finally the right one. I’m about to properly start Dreams of Gods and Monsters! For anyone who may be interested: The first book is very introductory. It’s a good read, but the series reveals so much more and really expands in scope starting with the second one.

Ember in the Ashes was one of the last series I started when only book 1 out. Which was a struggle. I absolutely love this series and I love Sabaa so much ❤❤❤❤❤

That combined with the unknowns at the end of roots and ruin has led many to believe she’ll go back to that story but either way it won’t be in the next book. Not only is 2026 over 2 years away, it won’t be about Verity it will be about Lenore, so even if we get another book with Verity it won’t be for YEARS. It is an unfinished series.

I'm finishing up the Queen's Thief series. I'm on the last book. The first four I read when I was in college and only just recently found out about the 5th and 6th books. I guess I got busy with work after graduation that I didn't even know about the last 2 books 😅

The Kindred Curse Saga is one of the best Fantasy series I have ever read and 3 of 4 books are out now and the last book is out in the beginning March 2024 and I am SO looking forward to it. The first book is Spark of the Everflame. I really don't know why it's not more popular amongst the Booktalk community and I am desperate for someone to read and talk about it.

I understand that readers don't wish their favorite series to end, but I always give up on a series that has more than 4 books😅. Caz, as far as I've experienced, either the initial plot gets wholly diverted, or I get bored
You need to read the finished trilogy of The Winners curse by Marie Rutkoski, is very similar to the Amber in the Ashes series and you will loved it, specially the second and third book, besos desde España 💜

After saying I’ll read Six of Crows for years I finally read it, in large part due to your glowing reviews, and holy shit it is incredible! I’ve been LIVID for days since the ending but I love it so much I might just re-read it again straight away… Good lord.

The second Bear and Nightingale book has much more of a story to it. I still need to read the third one. And I want to try Fireborne one day. I read the first Smoke and Bone; it was an interesting world, but a little heavy on the romantasy for me 🫣. I need a really good Nutcracker book.

I have such a love/hate relationship with chain of gold and the dark artifices. On one hand, I am an unabashed lover of the shadow hunter world, but WOW, these past two series in particular have been so drawn out!
