Subtle, precise. We hear so many pure tones, that they bore me in music now. What gives us the energy of the player in this piece are the 8ve stops in the second bar of Passacaglia. We hear rosin; we hear the strings being cut with passion, and the part-oscillation on the attack. It may sound minute, but this is the life of viols, beyond a mean tone: the breathing of the strings under power. I love this part- and I am surprised to hear it here, without close microphones. I found your work accidentally, but I can hear them here. I usually hear it on cello, for the heavier stringing- but the violins share it here. I hope that this makes sense to you. This is one piece that I listen to much (along with Shostakovich Op. 47, for one- I have several copies of each)- and yours subtly stands out. Thank You!!
