Mike - Ryan Cahill is no joke! Almost finished with The Fall and I’ve got Of Blood and Fire on the shelf ready to go! So good! Yes cruising is THE BEST! Welcome back man!
I rarely listen to audio books because I have a hard time following the story, but I had no problem listening to the Rain Wild Chronicles because of how less I could care about those stories. I read the 1st book, but could barely get by the 2nd book. This is someone who absolutely loves Realm of the Elderlings, by the way. Stick with it Mike!
As a Dutch person that has been to the Key West once for a week. I have to agree its a magical place. Relaxing atmosphere and the people are a joy there
Mike, welcome back. Nothing like a beach and a book. I just started The Bound and Broken series. I had not heard of it until you first mentioned it. Thoroughly enjoying it. Thanks again for the indie (aka Author Entrepreneur) shout-out. I am finishing two non-fiction books and then will be dipping my toes into a fiction series I am world-building at this time. Hope to send it your way in a couple years. By then, I am sure you will have 200k+ subscribers!
Man, Dragon Haven was brutal for me too lol so happy it's done. I'm onto Light Bringer now (about 30% in) and it's really great. Glad to hear vacation was a good time
Welcome back Mike, Last week I finished Dune it was amazing and I read to kill a mockingbird very fast too that one was also amazing and right now I am reading War of the Worlds and after that I will read Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy, Foundation, and Lonesome Dove
Sounds like a great trip, Mike! I also went to Half Moon Cay on a Carnival Cruise back in 2019 and I have to agree. Despite it raining half the day we were there, it was truly an incredible beach. We snorkled in knee deep water and couldn't believe the aquatic life around us.
A lot of people assume that self pub is bad, but it's become so popular because the royalty options and turn around are wayyyyyyy better. A lot of trans pubs will straight up seasonally deny horror rather than hang onto it until spooky season forcing you to pay your literary agent twice. Plus. With all the options, you can get almost as much reach as a trade pub.
Hey Mike, just wanted to say I love your videos man. You're the reason why I decided to read Dune (which is now one of my favorite books), and started reading The First Law Trilogy and plan on reading The Bloodsworn Trilogy by John Gwynne and the Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson in the future as well as Salem's Lot and It. Keep making awesome content man! :)
I have 10 chapters left in Lightbringer. This was the fastest I’ve ever read a book in the series aside from the first book. I think I hit every emotion there is. I’m savoring these last chapters. Pierce strikes again.
I'm 46 chapters deep in Of War and Ruin, so right about where you are, and I couldn't agree more with your anxiety with certain characters meeting. My gut is telling me it's going to be bad but I hope I'm wrong. Every chapter has been great so far and the story is weaving together in an amazing way. Welcome back and glad you had a good vacation.
I had the opposite type of vacation this past week. My wife and I took the 2 and 6 year old to Disney Land and the beach from Denver. Got about 2 total hours of reading in 6 days, but had a lot of fun. Vacation from the vacation is a real thing though. Wiped out from the sun and swim
Welcome back Mike. Glad your trip went well. I’m reading Inheritance, the final book in The Inheritance Cycle. It’s really good so far. I’m hoping to finish it by next week.
Happy to see you back! Almost done with Babylon's Ashes myself. It's definitely not as good as Nemesis Games, but enjoying it. That said, I'm probably more exited to finish it, so I could finally start watching the show, rather than excited about the book itself.
Can't wait for your Gone With the Wind review. I don't think I would have ever picked it up if not for you. And now because of you, I'm half way through lonesome dove. Really enjoying it much more than I thought Can't wait to finish and go check out your spoiler talk for that. Glad you enjoyed your birthday vacation
How was the ship was it a lot of people? My wife and I went at the tail end of the pandemic and the ship was a quarter of capacity. It was one of the Best experience of my life!
Always glad to have you back, even if the end of vacation can be a bummer. I just spent a week down the Jersey shore, which was nice, but no Caribbean by any means. I read Hobb's Ship of Magic while down there, so that was cool.
Welcome Back! I have committed to reading 1 self-pub book a month starting next month and will cover them on my channel. As always your words are wise and have inspired me.
I guess if the allergies are going to attack, at least they didn’t happen on the trip! Glad you guys had fun. My husband and I always read all day on vacation if we don’t have the kids with us. That water is incredible!!! ❤ I am slowly savoring a reread of A Clash of Kings while I read a few other books.
Welcome back Mike. Not a whole lot read, because the book I've been reading (rereading) is Swan Song. I'm almost halfway done though, and hoping to start either Babylon's Ashes or Starsight before the end of this week
Still making my way through Skyward, Deathnote, Kingfall, and The Winter King. I'm really glad you had a great time on your cruise. I'm actually going to Key West myself in February.
When you say Pax instead of Prax you know you're a Red Rising fan. And btw Mike you got me to read Red Rising, made me just start Sun Eater, and I guess The Bound and the Broken soon as well lol. Thanks for recommending great stuff!
Happy you had a nice time Mike. Nothing as peaceful as beautiful water and being around loved ones. Im rereading Empire of Silence and going through Justice of Kings for the first time. Vonvalt is awesome!
You have me so freakin pumped to dive into the Cahill series! I’m so glad you enjoyed Babylon’s Ashes, and I can’t wait to see the journey continue for you. I loved Key West but it seems like I need to make it to Half Moon Cay at some point too!
Glad to hear you had a good trip, Mike! Biggest takeaway for your vacation: your wife started First Law and that's awesome! I'm personally reading Of Darkness and Light and it's blowing my socks off!
So glad you enjoyed your vacation with some awesome food. 😊 I’m currently reading Justice of Kings by Richard Swan. I’m behind on my reading since Tyranny of Faith came out back in February. Looking forward to more content from you. Glad you’re back safe!
This is not the first time I've heard you mention Cahill and rave. So I just procured all three of The Bound and the Broken books on my Kindle without even reading the synopses. That's how much I trust your opinions. No idea when I'll get to them, since I've got about 800 Kindle books. But they're there.
Hi Mike, I am also reading the Expanse series, currently on Nemesis Games on physical books alternating with Mistborn which I am really enjoying too. Kindle wise I am engrossed in The Bound and the Broken, finishing of The Exile and getting excited for Of War and Ruin. I have just finished the Tawny Man series and not really looking forward to the Rainwild Series as it is the least favourite of them all. Strangely I started the final series of the Fitz and the Fool before any of them and I can say, after going back and reading from the start, this is most definitely the best of the series!! BTW I have read all of Stephen King books too and have only really got into Fantasy Books recently and plan to read all of the recommended ones by yourself and other like minded Book-Tubers. Keep on reading fellow Bookworm!
I binged watched the Bear on Hulu about a restaurant with the actor who played Lip on Shameless, it was fantastic!! Also finished Ender’s Game, I think one of the best endings ever!
A fellow aviator man. Glad you had a good time. I should be finishing Changes tonight, then I'll re-read Golden Fool on the 10th, after that who knows?
Glad to hear you enjoyed your vacation! Mike, or for anyone who read lonesome dove, did you feel kinda empty or in a reading slump after? it’s hard to find another book to measure up to lonesome dove.
Hi Mike. Reading Iron Gold this week. Think it's the best one yet. Really lovin it. Are you going to pick up the new Ken Follett armour of light out at end of September. Greetings from the UK. Please can u pass on some hot weather to us please. Coldest summer for donkeys years here!
Welcome back Mike! For my reading I finished the final volume of the Orochi series by Kazuo Umezz; which was volume 4. I'm still taking my sweet time reading the complete tales of H.P. Lovecraft. Which has been quite a read. Gaming wise I'm making progress in resident evil zero remastered on my switch lite. 😊❤📚
Mike, I know you have a schedule and previous promises to fill, but please when you get the time read and review Streets of Laredo, just as good as Lonesome Dove but good lord it’s intense!
Glad I never bothered with those Rainwild books. I just did the Farseer Trilogy and the Tawny Man and loved them both and just called it quits there....I did try the first book in the Mad Ship trilogy and didn't really care for it so I stopped it all there....don't need anything further in that universe.
I felt like BA suffered from a weak antagonist. What Marco did in book 5 was awesome but in 6 I felt like it never lived up to the first attack in book 5. Don't forget to read the 6.5 novella Strange Dogs, as a King fan it gave me very creepy King moments similar to a popular book of his that I know you love. It's also very important for books 7, 8 and 9. The final 3 are fantastic. I warned you about the first two Rain Wild books haha. Glad you're back and safe.
Dragon haven is one of the worst books I’ve ever read 1 star. The next 2 are more like 3-3.5 so not amazing but a big step up thank god. I’m still waiting till you get to Fools Assassin, still convinced it will be your favourite in the series.
I know you like this pesky little hobby called reading, and it sounds cool and all. But there's this little known game, by this little known indie studio, called Baldur's Gate 3 and that, my dear Mike, is what all your time should be focused on. In all seriousness, I know you mentioned wanting to play it previously and holy cow is this game fantastic. I've had it since EA Day 1 but wanted to wait until full release to play it and I have to say, it's already cracking my top 10 of all time. It's a beast of a game.
Went to Half Moon in 2015. The water really is unbelievable.
And the boat is a great reading space. You’re right.
Wow. Those pictures are stunning. Im glad you enjoyed your holiday.
Mike - Ryan Cahill is no joke! Almost finished with The Fall and I’ve got Of Blood and Fire on the shelf ready to go! So good! Yes cruising is THE BEST! Welcome back man!

I’ve read The Fall and Of Blood and Fire and I loved them. I’m really excited to continue the series!
Roatan is awesome! We spent a week there a few years ago and it was absolutely amazing!
Glad you had a great time!! Welcome back and thanks for the content. I’m reading Cahill soon, fuck it.
A vacation day after a vacation is a must
Gonna love the voiceover read if your voice stays as it is. SO DRAMATIC 👍🏻😂👍🏻🇬🇧

I'm excited for you getting to the last three Expanse books.

Glad you’re back!!
I just finished of War and Ruin and I can say climax of this book is some of the best Iv read in fantasy. Crazy stuff! I’m officially a huge fan 🔥

I went to Key West a couple years ago. It rained every day except 2 so we had to find indoor activities. We definitely hit up the Hemingway house.
Happy to see you back!
Almost done with Babylon's Ashes myself. It's definitely not as good as Nemesis Games, but enjoying it. That said, I'm probably more exited to finish it, so I could finally start watching the show, rather than excited about the book itself.
Beautiful ocean photo!

Your trip sounds great! Glad you and wife had fun.
Happy reading to you!! 🎉🎉
Well, Toll the Hounds would have been an icing on the cake. LOL! Welcome back Bro, nice you see you again.

Reading Of War and Ruin ( chapter 42) and loving it.
You have me so freakin pumped to dive into the Cahill series! I’m so glad you enjoyed Babylon’s Ashes, and I can’t wait to see the journey continue for you.
I loved Key West but it seems like I need to make it to Half Moon Cay at some point too!
this third arc of the expanse is the whole story coming together
Wow, that beach looks amazing. Glad you enjoyed the vacation.
Finished Red Rising Trilogy. Started Red Country and loving it so far.
Glad to hear you had a good trip, Mike! Biggest takeaway for your vacation: your wife started First Law and that's awesome! I'm personally reading Of Darkness and Light and it's blowing my socks off!

The word "key" reminds me of 'Duma Key', one of my favourite H O R R O R books.
Yeah. I got it by this point.
@@mikesbookreviews 😂😛
Yay! I can't wait for another Hobb discussion video!
Look forward to your gone with the wind review I think it’s written very well for how old it is
Glad you had a good time! I finished Light Bringer. Loved it but I can’t believe what Pierce did at the end, can’t forgive him ! 😂
Gonna put on my Nostradamus hat and predict Dragon Keeper will not be Mike's Book of the Month.
Hi Mike, I am also reading the Expanse series, currently on Nemesis Games on physical books alternating with Mistborn which I am really enjoying too. I DNF’ed Of War and Ruin because I couldn’t keep up with all the different things happening. I may go back sometime and try again.
I binged watched the Bear on Hulu about a restaurant with the actor who played Lip on Shameless, it was fantastic!! Also finished Ender’s Game, I think one of the best endings ever!
i knew you were gonna love half moon!
A fellow aviator man. Glad you had a good time.
I should be finishing Changes tonight, then I'll re-read Golden Fool on the 10th, after that who knows?
This is the way 😎
Mike your doing your best Barry White impression. 👍
I love your new ! 🤗
i just started dragon keeper and trying so hard to push through it. I know it will be worth it when I get to the fitz and the fool trilogy!
You’re not really selling Robin Hobb to me I thought the first book was very slow lol Glad you enjoyed your holiday
Glad to hear you enjoyed your vacation! Mike, or for anyone who read lonesome dove, did you feel kinda empty or in a reading slump after? it’s hard to find another book to measure up to lonesome dove.

Time for the final arc in the Expanse for you! I'm almost done with Leviathan Falls, I have a feeling you're gonna dig these final three books.
Glad I never bothered with those Rainwild books. I just did the Farseer Trilogy and the Tawny Man and loved them both and just called it quits there....I did try the first book in the Mad Ship trilogy and didn't really care for it so I stopped it all there....don't need anything further in that universe.
Honestly, Realm of the Elderlings hit rock bottom with Dragon Haven, it only goes up from there!!
Rain Wild Chronicles is 2 books split into 4 and it feels like it. Should have definitely been edited down to 2 500 page books.
The Seventh Cadence by Jim Wilbourne is a great self pub book. Awesome author too. I was a beta reader for him before he released anything
Finally started the expanse book 4
I felt like BA suffered from a weak antagonist. What Marco did in book 5 was awesome but in 6 I felt like it never lived up to the first attack in book 5. I'm currently reading furysong and age of empyre by Michael j Sullivan
Relaxing, eatting, resting... meanwhile reading the first law about a corrupt world of people suffering and dying haha 😂
Somehow it works.
How was the kindle scribe experience 😎
Eh.
A bottle of Jameson spills every time he pronounces Kay-hill as Kah-hill
I'm here for it tbh lol
That’s how the author told me to say it!
Really?! Wow. I've only ever heard it the other way. Interesting. Must've been en extremely Anglicized family lol @@mikesbookreviews

Nothing on the Kindle Scribe homie?
Welcome back Mike! Yay first comment.
Not surprised about dragon haven it's a bad read
I am currently playing No Man's Sky on the Switch
Anyone else noticed he didn’t mention any ebooks read 👀
Whoa look at that tan! I’m gunna need your wife to review First Law for us lol
How do people manage multiple fantasy books at a time? Thats too much to juggle for me.
James Maxwell is good, think he’s indie.
Yeah probably gonna skip Rain Wilds myself
Hamigway's place
Yeah dragon haven is really cringe
Did your kids go to grandma?
Babylons ashes isn't so much a bad book...its just not memorable to me
Just skip to the last trilogy of Realm of the Elderlings; Fool’s Assassin. 😶🌫️
Dragon Haven 100 percent feels like a crappy CW show. It stinks. The next books are better but I wouldn't say they're "good".
Yippie.
