      If their loved ones care, why are they not doing mass protests or standing up to police by stopping them from arresting protestors or opposition figures? Just saying, the alternative is the useless death of more ukrainians and russians. Yes protesting in russia is hard, but many of those saying it cant be helped are now being thrown to their deaths. This i feel is the price of poltical apathy.

    • @RandoBurner
      @RandoBurner Рік тому

      No, this is a good example of why poor people choose tyrants to give them free stuff and end up by being sent to war. This is what the russians have voted for, for the past 30 years. They wanted a man like Putin, they voted for him, even if he invaded Georgia, Chechenya, killed russian citizens by planting bombs. They engaged in the bribery mafia system of the russian state, they didn't protest, they didn't care, in the great majority of them. I remember when Kasparov, the great russian grandmaster, protested, and he was beaten in the street. People didn't care. They want this system, they participate in it, they don't undermine it. Some do, but they are a small minority in Russia, they are very brave people, but most are cowards. They would rather kill ukrainians than be killed by their own state for protesting(which doesnt even happen).
      Everything in Russia for centuries has been driven by poverty. Poor people with an inferiority complex, wanting war, to make themselves feel strong.

      Russia is a great country, but the leadership is time and time again making asinine decisions that are purely for power and not progress.
      Once the Russian people decide to stop attacking others like Georgia, Ukraine, then they will know peace and stability and prosperity.

      @Hexnilium Рік тому

      @@Freemedia.ru21 Also, the Cold War was already in full effect. Why is it problem for Ukraine to join NATO? And why does that deserve a brutal invasion?
      Just think from the Ukrainian perspective. They were interested in being protected from external threats and in search of possible defense, Russia attacked them and brutally.
      How does that make sense? On one side, Europe and NATO were offering them membership, peace, stability, economic prosperity, military DEFENSE, and then on the other side Russia invades and destroys them.
      At this point, Ukraine should march all the way to Moscow and eliminate the threat at the Kremlin. If they gain any upper hand, they’ll consider it, nuclear threats or not. It’s the dastardly Putin administration and his cohorts that need to be removed so Ukraine and Russia can coexist peacefully. Until then, Russia will be at war with the international community for being an unnecessary aggressor that is apparently very thin-skinned and fragile that it cannot handle another country seeking peace and stability.

We Russian people know perfectly well what we are fighting for and are well aware of what these neo-Nazis from the Ukrainian army did and are doing with our people. Russians have been exterminated in eastern Ukraine since 2014, but the entire Western world didn’t care. They don’t care about the Ukrainians either, this is just cannon fodder for the war with Russia, which they have always dreamed of destroying. The Europeans and Americans themselves are afraid to fight directly with us.

Almost the entirity of the people concerned were Christian Ottomans of Greek origin and were systematically murdered by the Ottoman government led by the Three Pashas, not ethnic muslim Turks murdered by Greeks as you say. There were reprisals in some areas of boirder regions against minority populations of Ottoman muslims, but in the main these were minor and not remotely comparable with what was going on in Anatolia. Also, the death toll was placed at between 300.000 to 900.000, so even at the maximum of that range your quote of 3 million is way off. Finally, just referencing Bernard Lewis who to say the least is wildly unorthodox is his approach to hisotircal events and terminology used in crimes against humanity is hardly a sensible way of continuing this debate!
