All the Jimmy’s/James’s are appalling hosts. Intelligent and witty conversation has been replaced with fake laughs, pandering and childish games. Kimmel does political jokes badly, Fallon Is embarrassingly childish and dull, Corden seems to cater to teenage girls who like singalongs.
For me he also did a great job as Dr. Wellington Yueh, especially when Dean was the first live-action Yueh. I hope Dean realized in these past 3 decades that Dune 1984 eventually became a huge cult classic, especially in light of the 3rd & latest adaptation of Herbert's Dune.
Dad remembered him as the Boy With Green Hair (I always liked his small attorney role in To Live And Die In LA and of course as Tony in Married To The Mob). RIP
I rewatch Dean's interviews on UA-cam .aside from quantum leap Al calavicci Tony russo was Dean's fave character to play he was able to do comedy and just improvise !!! He did some good dramatic movies but married to the mob is my fave he was just irresistible 💙😍😘
For publication I chauffeured Dean and Joy Stockwell when he was nominated for his Academy Award in ‘89. Dean was interviewed after the Awards in front of the Auditorium where he was asked, by Channel 7, “How do you feel about being rediscovered?” Dean took personal offense and laughed at the word rediscovered. He later told Joy, in the limousine back, “I never knew I was ‘undiscovered’!" Entertainment Tonight followed us from his front door, to the awards, but since he didn’t win they broke off. Cheep Shot! Funny, Joy needed a restroom along the way where I found a clean off route facility. Entertainment Tonight followed us to the building and then followed Joy up the stairs where she locked her door, put her stockings on, then came out asking them if they saw enough through the keyhole. (There was no keyhole of course, but I think it drove her point into their snoopy notebooks & cameras.) Dean and Joy were wonderful, gave me a ticket to the Board of Governor’s Ball, went to Spagos for the after party (where they introduced me to Teri Garr, Tom Cruse, Al Pacino, Frank, Sonny, and so many more), then to their home. Of the countless people I've chauffeured in my 30 years, I absolutely love this couple and their presence. I was so upset and tear filled to hear Dean passed away this year. He is a Hollywood and Film Legend. ! All my personal best and warmth to Joy (though divorced from Dean, I know she's devastated) , his daughter Sophia, and son Austin. Deano was connected to everyone. From the Golden Age of Hollywood to the Gilded period of '70s Rock. He once accompanied Bowie to the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital to smuggle coke to Iggy Pop who was a patient there.
Dean Stockwell was a great guy, funny, down to earth in real life and that comes across in these interviews. Such an underrated actor. He was fantastic in Compulsion and everything he did. The chemistry between Dean and Scott made Quantum Leap the special show it was.
@@patriciacady6326 he read his script for American gold rush wrote the song American gold rush.the movie dean was wanting to make was sort of about finding " heaven "
One of the longest Hollywood careers ever, and played so many great roles. RIP. 🌹 *P.S.:* BTW, that was some great Jazz guitar shredding at the end there.
I was telling a quantum leap or dean fan that I wasn't crazy about his voice sounding like someone grabbed his jewels in McHale's navy.they said he liked McHale's navy for the comedic side and even imitated the helium voice 😂yes that was his other pure quality he was very honest and frank . I would've loved to have seen a book written about him maybe from his friends or children .from what he's said in interviews and articles he led such a interesting life between acting .
A man named John Summers who's letter appeared on the CBS mailbag, Nov 6,1998. He called it the biggest thrill ever! It was brief, but he mentioned Tony” Big Ink” Mendez. And that was it. He lost the tape and is asking around if anyone has it. My favorite channel!

I think he was press shy because so many of them would ask the same question either nicely or in a " dumb no way dude " way is it true you've been acting since you were 6 yrs old 😳 , I know he even turned down a appearance in a documentary Alex winter wanted him to be in because he had sort of retired from acting and was doing his art .
It's a shame Mr. Stockwell was only on Letterman once. He was a really classy dude and an underrated actor. R.I.P.
100%!! Brilliant actor!!
Sleep well, mr Dean Stockwell! He was so cool, intelligent, handsome and interesting person.
RIP to you Dean. Every role he played was magic.
An absolute legend, rest in peace.

Dean was always a class act. Also, this was a really good interview, before audiences cheered wildly at anything anyone said.
It was only a few of months before Dean would star as Al on Quantum Leap.
late evenings still just arent the same. there was that period from 82-95 when this show really set the pace. thanks!

Agree. Dave had a great run. He's sorely missed.
R.I.P to the great Dean Stockwell.
Dean Stockwell was a gem.
A great actor in the area of science fiction, Quantum Leap and the Battlestar Galactica 2000s show come to mind as memorable character performances.
Wow, he had a very long career before he became Al Calivici. No wonder he was such a great character. A 45 year old veteran before Quantum Leap.
Dad remembered him as the Boy With Green Hair (I always liked his small attorney role in To Live And Die In LA and of course as Tony in Married To The Mob). RIP

Sounds like a truly healthy friend indeed.
He did what? Really?
I read that it was Dennis Hopper who went with Bowie. It was questionable if Dean Stockwell did too. No one ever seems sure.
@@Sunflower8587 I believe both did and young Slash and his Mom!

His dad voice the prince in Snow White in '37. Amazing!
Thanks for the post. Just found out earlier of his passing

Pure class. RIP Dean. Neil Young credited him with inspiring “After the Goldrush”
Then worked together the 'script' for 'human highway'
