I live in Antigua with family and we don't have a dilapidated car in the front yard. That statement about locals was too generalized and not true. Many beautiful homes are owned by Antiguans. Every country has poverty, even " first world countries ". And some people just don't have cars. I think we know that this video isn't being made for "locals". The "dilapidated" talk about local homes is disrespectful.

I agree with you completely. In fact, Antigua has a lot of vehicles because the government has allowed duty free concessions to be given to persons desirous of purchasing a vehicle whether locally from a dealer or imported from the US and Japan.

I traveled to Antigua 🇦🇬 population less than 20K in the 80's, 2021 feels like closer to 100K in population. I worry about real estate not pricing out our local Islanders to be able to purchase. We have had an international airport for a very long time, with direct flights all over the world. This is not a recent development. We opened a new terminal in 2015. Neither do we all have abandoned cars in our backyards.That is an exaggeration.Don't appreciate it.

Born N raised in Antigua 🇦🇬 I've lived between Antigua and st.thomas usvi half my life and the other half in New York and I recently visited st.thomas and I paided $130.us per day for a jeep which is minimum and I'll be visiting Antigua very soon and in comparison st.thomas is 2x more expensive than Antigua 🇦🇬. It is what it is !! Would i return to st.thomas? Yes!! I love my country very much and Antigua is still naturally beautiful and home to many foreign nationals.

I see no implicit encouragement of fear in the article. Instead, there is an overly optimistic view on the safety encountered in Antigua. Nowhere is there anything to imply the locals are dangerous. In fact, the message I get is exactly the opposite. I can personally attest to the friendliness of the locals, as well as mention that there is crime, especially in the summer. But nothing on the scale of other Caribbean islands.
