- When I go somewhere for more than 2-3 months, what questions interest me the most? How safe is it here? What are the conditions for a child? My son is two years old and I need to understand whether there are kindergartens, some kind of “community”, playgrounds, whether there is good quality food here.
We will talk to a person who has lived here for a long time to find out how safe Antigua is, because even after spending a month or two or three here, you still won’t plunge deep into the environment, and you’ll hardly draw the correct conclusions.

I live in Antigua with family and we don't have a dilapidated car in the front yard. That statement about locals was too generalized and not true. Many beautiful homes are owned by Antiguans. Every country has poverty, even " first world countries ". And some people just don't have cars. I think we know that this video isn't being made for "locals". The "dilapidated" talk about local homes is disrespectful.
Please know we're not all ignorant fools like him 😉
I most certainly agree with you , I to have visited Antigua and I've fell in love with Antigua and that statement that creator of this video was wrong about the natives of Antigua.

I am from Jamaica and I will definitely be visiting Antigua soon. Something about Antigua just seems to pull me . Maybe it is because of my love of cricket Sir Viv and the fact that the accent and lifestyle seems so similar
WE HAD AN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BEFORE 2015......we just moved to a more upscale facility!.....the Population is not 70K...its 100 000!....I dont take too kind to u CALLING PEOPLE'S HOME DILAPIDATED....I dont know what kinda of burger's that dude be eating or where he bought it but a regular burger from a local is about 5 dollars US...England and the US is way more expensive...besides that great video.....

I agree with you completely. In fact, Antigua has a lot of vehicles because the government has allowed duty free concessions to be given to persons desirous of purchasing a vehicle whether locally from a dealer or imported from the US and Japan.
Boss he asking a white man, who have thick British accent to give a description of the island, while he lives in one of the richest areas Antigua, so his answers will be bias for rich people.
“Everyone house has a broken down car in it, if you don’t have it something is wrong” WHAT!?! How about we don’t have a recycling facility and therefore we don’t want to toss out old vehicles in the bush and pollute our beautiful island.
Honestly what he is saying is true for rich people. I classify Antigua into 5 type of people, rich immigrants and their kids, rich locals, middle class immigrants (and their kids), middle class locals, and poor locals.
Everything he was saying is a viable for those in the rich categories and maybe for those in the middle class.
The person who put this video together has done a wonderful job selling our island short.

In 1985 Antigua's international airport, which was first named Coolidge, was renamed V.C. Bird International Airport in his honour. The history of the airport goes back to 1942, when the United States Army constructed an aerodrome in Antigua for military use.
I am looking to visited soon but because of the virus I am taking my time before I visited both Antigua and Barbuda my friend and family still their I love the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. You talking about Puerto Rico is very very very very very very very beautiful island I love before I go home to Antigua and Barbuda I stopped their first and every the beaches the people are very very very very welcoming. Good food oh you talked about food you eat until you dropped.

I traveled to Antigua 🇦🇬 population less than 20K in the 80's, 2021 feels like closer to 100K in population. I worry about real estate not pricing out our local Islanders to be able to purchase. Love the fact it stays generally safe to move around. I hope they do like Cayman, background checks on Immigrants #Islander

I enjoyed watching this video and I’m very proud to say that the British guy represented my island of Antigua very well respectively and beautiful we have a lots of visitors from all parts of the world and yes we do have 365 beaches…I am from Antigua and I went to an international school my classmates was from all parts of the world I miss my beautiful island thanks for representing my island and I should be home next year 2023🥰🥰
He literally referred to Antiguans as if we were animals using the world “primal” a few times - there’s a hints of micro aggressions mixed with racism from the white gaze that was very much of that time. Now the footage of the island was superb 👌🏾

We have had an international airport for a very long time, with direct flights all over the world. This is not a recent development. We opened a new terminal in 2015. Neither do we all have abandoned cars in our backyards.That is an exaggeration.Don't appreciate it.
Antigua is actually bigger than that. It's 14 miles by 11 miles, the largest of the leeward Islands.

Why would you not speak to a native? My family is from here and my uncle has his own radio station here. Do better because you could have made this better without having speaking down about it.
This channel targets foreigners who would like to move I to the Caribbean, so it makes sense to get a foreigner (in this case, a guy from the UK) to talk about his experience as a foreigner in your country. At no point did I feel like they are speaking down about Antigua. Ok, maybe when he said some homes are dilapidated and have those scrappy cars in their yards, but at least he provided some video footage as proof.

Antigua's population now stands at 100k, according to the most recent census.
All the same, 70k or 100k - a tiny country the size of a North American or European town, which is exactly what international investors are looking for - quite provincial lifestyle with nice beaches.

Both Antigua and Barbuda west Indies beautiful beaches you wanted to know about beautiful White sand and pink Sand especially princess Diana Beach in Barbuda west Indies beautiful pink Sand if you never saw pink Sand before yes there is pink Sand I went home to visited my family a while back and I brought back pink Sand and shared it with my friends and I brought lot's of different seafood and others things

Born N raised in Antigua 🇦🇬 I've lived between Antigua and st.thomas usvi half my life and the other half in New York and I recently visited st.thomas and I paided $130.us per day for a jeep which is minimum and I'll be visiting Antigua very soon and in comparison st.thomas is 2x more expensive than Antigua 🇦🇬. It is what it is !! Would i return to st.thomas? Yes!! I love my country very much and Antigua is still naturally beautiful and home to many foreign nationals.

This video upsets me. So you mean to tell me that so many natives live here and you couldn’t get a couple so you’d have different perspectives? How can you ask this man who most likely lives in a very expensive area about safety?...of course he doesn’t experience crime but others are affected by it. I don’t think this man efficiently represents Antiguans or Antigua. Interviewing him alone paints a very deceiving picture to visitors or those planning to move here. Unless he is lying but he had told that he used to let his stuff inside of his car while not being around for a while and when he got back nothing was missing. So, I think he's talking honestly about safety because he said he wouldn't dare that in the UK.

The general consensus of Caribbean culture is there is typically no sense of urgency. People want to leave home at 8am to get to work for 8am.

This video has a laughable degree of focus on safety. The implicit encouragement of fear of the locals is disgusting. I think the locals have far more to fear from the expats. Also, were you unable to find locals to talk to? SMH

I see no implicit encouragement of fear in the article. Instead, there is an overly optimistic view on the safety encountered in Antigua. Nowhere is there anything to imply the locals are dangerous. In fact, the message I get is exactly the opposite. I can personally attest to the friendliness of the locals, as well as mention that there is crime, especially in the summer. But nothing on the scale of other Caribbean islands.
It sounds like you watched the first 5 minutes of the video and then shut it off to make a premature comment.

Let me tell you me born Antigua not even at hospital in my grandmother' house so talking about cars in yard those are mechanic that keeps vehicle because the ministry of health went and clean the different communities with abandoned vehicles
So next time interview Antiguans that born here not something that Google also some of these taxi drivers are not from Antigua so they will tell you anything
And the area they are interviewing and talking about is Elite area that is expensive to live and eat
