- The melancholy music box that plays a tune of Grim Grinning Ghosts, located outside of Phantom Manor (and in queue for Haunted Mansion Holiday).
I just realized the image I used was mirrored :(
I was once lined up at Haunted Mansion on a suffocatingly hot day, with the sun glowing through the tree branches as it descended behind the hill, and feeling like I was having an out of body experience floating through this ghostly music box playing faintly in the background, one of the more powerful memories I've had at Disneyland
The heat will do that to you...
Honestly the scariest Mansion out of all of them. A deep and dark history, now expanded upon in the update, not only relating to the original Haunted Mansion idea but capitalizing on it. Even in real life the attraction has an unfortunate death attached to it, making it somewhat creepier.
At least there’s no pop up ghosts

Ya know, that's actually a really good idea. I always enjoyed listening to this when In line for the Holiday Mansion, so why not have it for the Regular Mansion, too?
When I was 4 years old I went to the Phantom Manor and I had a trauma for maybe 6 years beacause it scared me so much, especially the moan and the crying of the bride... Now I love it but at night if I listen to this song I start to have anxiety and it's horrible because at the same time I think it's so beautiful...Argh I think that if I go to the Phantom Manor now (I'm 15) I will overcome my trauma.
Yea, that creeped me out when I was 10, the whole time I was thinking, “this is so much scarier than Disney worlds mansion” and “what is going on”, the part at the end where you see the brides corpse really got me by surprise and I thought “what the ehll, this is a Disney ride, I feel so sorry for the little kids who have ridden this” I hopefully I’ll do better when I go back too Europe. How did it go for you? I saw they toned it down in the refurbishment,
@Isabella Van Ginkel finally I went to Disney on november and I went to the Phantom Manor! This music it's still a bit scary at night but my trrauma has been overcomed!

Same thing I have been traumatized by the Manor... But today I really found it fascinating and the atmosphere created by the imagineers jaw-drops me... My trauma started when I was 5 years old... And it tooks me 17 years before turning back trough this attraction...
This is even more enjoyable when you hear this tune waiting outside in line when it's dark and all the lights and flickering candles are on..........(sigh). Beautiful

I am so glad they added this for the queue line for Haunted Mansion Holiday and it adds a nice vibe to that area around it, especially at night when the crowds thin and the spooky aura can sink in
This enchanting music was composed by acclaimed film composer John Debney ("Passion of the Christ") for the Phantom Manor. He actually grew up being at Disneyland as a kid because his parents worked there, reportedly. He also studied music at California Institute of the Arts, or Cal Arts, in Santa Clarita, CA that was created by Walt Disney. It's considered one of the best art schools in the world. In fact a great many Disney animators come out of that school including Tim Burton...
While Debney composed a full orchestral score for Phantom Manor and may have ARRANGED this piece for Regina (a type of music box), he did not compose it. This arrangement is derived from “Grim Grinning Ghosts” (aka “The Screaming Song”) composed by Buddy Baker with lyrics by X. Atencio. The melody itself can be heard in many parts of the original attraction located in Anaheim, California, in different keys, metres, and moods, as well as in other iterations of the attraction around the world.

Listening to this song, makes me feel at peace. My favorite song out of all of Haunted Mansion's music. If Disney ever decides to replace Haunted Mansion Holiday with another movie, I would probably start having a breakdown, lol. Seriously, The Nightmare Before Christmas was a good decision for this ride. I look forward to every Halloween because I just love to hear this song whenever I walk by Haunted Mansion. The way the workers decorate it so beautifully is amazing.

@ Crescent Pony: this music is originally used for the queue @ Phantom Manor @ Disneyland Paris. Haunted Mansion Holiday @ Disneyland (Anaheim) borrowed it for their queue for the Holiday overlay.
I saw in recent videos that the music box doesn't sound good at the queue at the Phantom Manor, really low pitched, no wonder they closed it down for a major refurbishment.

But honestly, I don't mind the Haunted Mansion Holiday. Yes it's a bit invasive but it's only for a few short months and let's be honest, being invasive is kinda Jack Skellington's style no? Plus the main soundtrack mostly uses the tune of my favourite song from the movie!

In FNAF 1, Freddy's attack has the song Toreador on a music box, and it creates a similar haunting dissonance, the way notes ring out and bleed into one another. Cawthon uses this music technique repeatedly in the series, so you're totally right!

Phantom Manor is one of the best rides ever made and to have its soundtrack used in one of the most annoying games of all time would be an insult to Disney and Phantom Manor/Haunted Mansion. this is creepy when you are walking around the ride not when its in some stupid game which is terrible

Kyle Todd Dude. Calm down. I thought (didn't SAY) it would've been interesting, but I've been in Phantom Manor. It truly is terrifying. FNAF has its scares, and I meant the music box music would've been in the first game. The other two can go flying fuck themselves.
51NAPA Phantom manor is truly a world class scare attraction. i just really do not like FNAF as it is not that good and is overhyped for no reason. the Music Box music would not fit in on FNAF anyway as it relates to the bride in Phantom Manor since it's her music box :)
