I’m a 46 year old woman in the Midwest of America and this moved me so much I cried like a baby... partly because it’s just *SO* beautiful, honest, and moving. And I also cried because it took me back to when my son (now age 27) and his friends would practice in our basement during their last two years of high school. Hearing my son so heart-wrenchingly screaming from his soul the lyrics that he and his friends/band mates wrote, always brought out the same emotion. Thank you for taking me back there and thank you for sharing your souls, your gift, your authenticity. I’m seriously floored. Y’all are going on my playlist. (I hope you’re on iTunes. 😳)
Same age as your son here and same story, I also had a "band" with my friends at the same age. Your comment brought back so many great memories and dreams that I had... as others have said, thank you for supporting your son in what he loves!.
I just found this band today and it's like a giant weight off my shoulders to hear something new and original. It's refreshing to hear something that's not an echo of something else. I feel like I can breathe again. Very strange.
Try Isis and Neurosis (they're definitely somewhere in this band's influences) the albums Oceanic and A Sun That Never Sets respectively (and Panoptiocon and Through Silver In Blood respectively tbh). I'd recommend some other post metal bands, but soooo many of them are just so derivative of those 2 bands it's not worth it. Post-hardcore bands were more inventive. Svalbard are pretty good too. I'm about to go check out Oathbreaker, but I've read good things. RT's old label (pre-sex abuse scandal from the boss fella and subsequent complete implosion when every staff and band quit) had a really solid roster that was mostly all worth at least hearing once And Swans. But Rolo Tomassi's innovation is to mix in a bit of chillout oriented drum n bass. For which Amon Tobin's pre Out From Outwhere albums are a must. I think it's Permutation and Bricolage. Bricolage I'm convinced is a key album for the electronic music evolutions that led to Igorrr. Also Ninja Tune and Zen Records releases from the early 90s are worth scouring through for a lot of the edm influence in RT's stuff.
My Mom battled breast cancer for years and then covid hit.... this song came into my recommendation and it hit so deep, then my mother passed away in January. And your new album dropped in February and gave me so much comfort. Thank you guys so much for doing what you do!!
Rolo Tomassi is so incredible! Everything is so right. Incredible sound, Incredible vocals. For me it was everything but love on first listen. But a mixture of chance and Fortuna let me find the entrance.... this band is so unbelievable. Unreal! For me, better is almost not possible! 😍🤩🤘 I love this band....
This is masterpiece. For me this is the best song if this bang. I love this contrast with music and vocal. Hope, you'll come with concert to Ukraine after the war end.
Such an intelligent and unique use of growl starting the vocal line sentence and finishing with her almost head voice. I remember hearing them years ago when they started out. How great to experience their maturity. emotion and expression! Wonderful. Long may you wave!
Keep an eye on this band, this band will be the future of a upcoming scene. Such a sensitive and creative heavy band, love it. Please keep walking on that path!
I doubt it honestly. Don't get me wrong, I love this band and have so for a good number of years now, but it's not very mainstream accessible and it doesn't have to be tbh. There's always gonna be people like you and me who know how to appreciate such wonderful musicians even if the majority is sleeping on them
Dunno man, perhaps the best hardcore band around. The wonderful mix of aggression and sweetness. The epic keyboard lines and the wonderful riffs. This band gives me a lot of joy.
the year's now over and this is by far the best song of 2018.!! i can't stop listening to it, i just can't. so beautiful, haunting and absolutely breathtaking. thank you for this song, rolo tomassi...it means the world to me.!! and thank you, eva...for writing the most touching lyrics i've read over the year.!! thank you, from the bottom of my broken heart.!!*
it makes me so happy to see this band playing a great show to a packed audience, this performance was really powerful and i wish i could have been there. I had a ticket for a show but unfortunately lost my ticket, hopefully i can see them in 2019. heres to a great 2019 and more deserved success!
All the very best for 2019 and I hope it brings you all the success your hard work over the years deserves. Couldn't make this gig but was at The Garage earlier this year. Incredible set that night.
Holy, F*ck. I`m almost 50yo and I`ve been looking for you all of my life. I thought Mr.Bungle and Fantomas is the ONE, but you... are awersome equaly or maybe better. Is it something wrong with my mind? Why some music like this are great to me?? Why not Justin Biber or f*ckin Madonna?? F*ck I think I need THERAPY?
I'm a big fan. Really. These guys are my favorite new discovery of the last 2 years. They have quite a few songs that I just can't get enough of. So beleive me when I say that I say this in the most respectfull way possible, with a avery constructive minset : I really hope that, in her live performances, she would calm down her movements/scene presence by 20%, and focus that saved energy on her vocals !
@Jean-Pierre Villeneuve er... well... I would choose to argu that "awfull" is quite strong. This is a reccorded live performance (some quality is lost). And singing (not screaming) without auto-tunes is quite challenging. Like I said, there's room for improvement. I'd wish she'd care more about her vocals... maybe even take some lessons to fine-tune them. Really. But I'd still pay any day to go see them live. And am really really hoping for a new album soon.
@Jean-Pierre Villeneuve lol honestly I find her live performance makes it 100x better than the album, and the album version is dope already. I respect her for giving zero fucks and going out there with the energy cranked up to 110%. I like this band even more after seeing these performances and realizing they aren't afraid to get into it. It would be so lame if she held back and tried to act too cool for the music. Fuck that.
I love this last album so much and her voice is amazing on the disc.....is just that the live performance is a bit off, none the less this was a great show and they all are true artists
I mean she sounds flat on the album sometimes, her harsh vocals though, they sound good throughout the entire song. singing is hard dude, especially when you've been screaming your heart out too.
Saw these back in 2006 (i think?) opening for The Berzerker. Pretty sure I saw them again 2 years later opening for Between the Buried and Me. They're really changed! Much more mature sound. I never quite got into them all those years ago, but their style has blossomed and I can dig this! See you at ArcTanGent :)
Right, I love this song and band, amongst my favourite current bands. However, this is mixed quite poorly. It doesn't do their live performance justice.
Me No Like… I just saw her in the hotel lobby, so I had to look up. This is one of the worst bands I’ve ever heard of. It’s amazing that people like them. But twitch zone
I’m in the midst of chemo suffering in my hospital room right now and this brought considerable peace to me.
are you ok man?
Hope you are still listening!❤

as others have said, thank you for supporting your son in what he loves!.
They are indeed so great.
What a beautiful comment xx
her vocal abilities are fucking impressive. she makes her extreme vocal transitions seem so effortless.
I legit thought it was a guy and a girl, but no, IT'S ALL HER! That's insane! Super talented.
they should be. screaming is easier than singing - a guy who does both
@@KYUBIMATIASI always assumed it was one of the guitarists doing the harsh vocals. Absolutely incredible.
Just discovered this band about 2 weeks ago. God, they are so freaking amazing. Absolutely love this❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
OMG!...that drop! The dynamics of this performance are unreal!

Does this song make anyone else tear up?
every time i'm listening to this song.!!
Every fucking time
Just goosebumps like a motherfucker
YES!
makes me freaking sob every single damn time
I love when the guitarists headbang in synch at 6:02

I just found you all. The musicianship is amazing. Your lead vocalist has that Bjork vibe which is in my top 2 of all time so, you got me.
What an utterly, utterly BRILLIANT band. This band is bloody wonderful.
Found these guys a few weeks ago and I'm blown away by how under the radar talent like this is. The emotion and part writing is amazing. Love it!
Goosebumps every time... Hot damn!!!

Goosebumps. Every time.
I love how shes singing into one Mike and screaming into the other haha great performance. Shes a fucking treasure.
I recently discovered this band and their emotion in their vocals and instrumentals reminds me very much of the band Thursday. Which I love
Such an intelligent and unique use of growl starting the vocal line sentence and finishing with her almost head voice. I remember hearing them years ago when they started out. How great to experience their maturity. emotion and expression! Wonderful. Long may you wave!
i had so wonderful moments with this song while running in the morning light through the forest
Omg beautiful
This is rather splendid.

her performance makes her a part of the song. The dynamics in the band's performance... perfection!
I can't even put into words how powerful the performance of this song is. Fuck. Me.
i just found it yesterday and I'm still here. imagine my joy
Been a few months since I listened to this. Still amazingly beautiful...and I still cry every time. Just brilliant.
great performance, great song, 5 star the end
Pedazo de banda, increíble ❤😢
Love this song. I also love eva's ferocity and cuteness simultaneously.

Great band and song.
Anyone know why she uses a separate mic for screaming? Is there some special effect she uses for them?
yes that is it
she has two mics so that front of house can set them at different volume levels
All the very best for 2019 and I hope it brings you all the success your hard work over the years deserves. Couldn't make this gig but was at The Garage earlier this year. Incredible set that night.

Can't really replicate vocal layers live
This was the last song before the encore. I think her voice was a bit strained at this point. Overs she was amazing.
She was a little hoarse in the first minute or so but sounded incredible as the song progressed.
it's poorly mixed and if i remember correctly, it was the last show of their tour. you can clearly hear that eva's voice is shot.
I mean she sounds flat on the album sometimes, her harsh vocals though, they sound good throughout the entire song. singing is hard dude, especially when you've been screaming your heart out too.

What disappoints me about this band is her vocals. She cant pull them off like in the studio, her tone always runs off. I love this band still
She moves like Bruce Dickinson
metal Coldplay anyone?
they are using 2 potatoes to mix this mess
