  • Here is part 2 of turning a Honda spree engine into a Honda elite engine. I used a jdm Honda PAL sb50 crankshaft for the ability to use a variator but the same thing can be done to the regular Honda spree crankshaft. The connecting rod is from a Honda MTX50 and is the main component that makes this build possible. the cylinder and piston are from a Honda Dio/elite 50 as well as the intake. thank you for watching and stick around for part 3 coming soon!

    Will the malosi 72 cc bbk work with the non variated spree after case modification ? I want to dip swap the intake and put the big bore on it let me know man

      I'm currently running the ncy big bore kit on the engine. Can't remember the exact bore of it but I do remember that when I did the math, it brought this engine up to 75cc or just about. As long as you do the same connecting rod I used (you can use it with your stock non variated spree crankshaft) and make the same cylinder spacer I did the malosi kit should bolt right up! Just remember that the spree has a slightly shorter stroke, so a 72cc BBK will actually end up slightly under 72cc but not by much. Should be a ripper if you get it done. Best of luck!

    Can you used a Honda dio crankshaft on the spree cases ???

    2 questions where can you buy a pal crank and with said crank can you just buy a variator and it’s plug and play?

    • @jdmjedi777
      @jdmjedi777  2 роки тому +1

      I bought mine on ebay from a seller in Japan. You gotta change out one of the bearings in the case and it hase to be an 86 and up case. You gotta use an 85 flywheel though. The rear gear also needs to be swapped with a modified pal gear to make the rest of the variator setup bolt on. I have a video on how that is done as well. There is also a video of this engine with a big bore kit I installed and it made really good power.

      @@jdmjedi777 got an 86 and was gonna try to line it up with the spree clutch set up and run different clutch springs if possible 😅 and it’s a pal crank and bearings?, lastly must’ve missed that vid I’ll giver a watch

      @@jake-gl7op it was actually a special size bearing I bought from a bearing supplier online. I can try to provide a link if you want. Here is a link to each of those videos. Btw I used a 50cc gy6 variator setup as the variator.

      You gotta use the connecting rod I used in this video to do the af18 cylinder like I did.

      Here we are. 7 months on and my top end it on-top of this non variated af05 .

    Question:
    Is the thick adapter plate and connecting needed if you aren't going to run the S23 intake/carb?

    • @jdmjedi777
      @jdmjedi777  2 роки тому

      Yes, it's what gives the elite cylinder something to seal against and gives the height needed for the connecting rod. The connecting rod is needed because the elite piston has a 12mm wrist pin and the spree piston has a 10mm wrist pin.

    • @IvyOperator
      @IvyOperator 2 роки тому

      @@jdmjedi777 Thank you! what about your think case spacer? wouldn't that affect the bolt spacing for the cylinder? or is that also needed

    • @jdmjedi777
      @jdmjedi777  2 роки тому

      @@IvyOperator the case spacer ever so slightly does affect the bolt spacing but not enough to cause any misalignment at all. All cylinder bolts has still fit perfectly. Even with the 80cc NCY big bore kit I put on it.

      @@jdmjedi777I'm currently replicating what you did with the top end, using a BBK from an elite. How did the new connecting rod come together with your Pal crank? I am using the stock '85 crank and case. If you have an email we can also talk there

    • @jdmjedi777
      @jdmjedi777  Рік тому

      @IvyOperator you have to use a press to push the pin out of the crankshaft. Then, install the new connecting rod on and press the crank back together. I will admit, though, that it's sounds a lot simpler then it really it. I highly recommend watching some videos on how to true a 2 stroke crankshaft. Watch some guides on how to press apart and press together a 2 stroke crankshaft as well. It certainly takes some patience but a very important step. The crank pin that comes with the new rod will be a bit too long, so you can either use a spree crank pin or grind the one that comes with the new rod down to the correct length.
