Nice playing Sir and an interesting instrument as well! How much money please should one offer for such an old instrument?

Thank you very much. It really depends on many different factors. It depends on how rare the instrument is and what condition it is in. If it is a very rare instrument, it doesn’t necessarily matter what condition it is, it may still go for a high price. If it is a very rare horn and it is restored, it is even more valuable. This particular horn is quite rare and is in very good condition so it should go for at least $800 to $1000 USD. You really have to be educated about rare instruments to be able to determine what they should be worth. Hopefully this answers your question. Thank you very much for watching.

@ Thanks a lot - this really helps me! I I have an offer in Europe in mind for 995 euros...the instrument is obviously ready to play and sounds good. Now I have an idea!

Such an odd looking horn. Sounds fun to play, though.

Both horns definitely work differently depending on the kind of valves that they have. A lot depends on what kind of music you are playing. One horn works well for one type of music and the other horn works well for another type of music. But it is also a personal preference on what you like. Some people only play piston valve trumpets and some people only play rotary valve trumpets. I like both. But it depends on the music that I am playing. Thank you very much for watching.

@@brassfromthepast5149 Not knowing English, I copied word after word and then translated with Google Translator. Let me start by saying that I am 47 years old, I am Italian, I live in Italy, I am a clarinet teacher, I have studied band instrumentation, I have always had the trumpet in my heart, everyone had refused to teach it to me because I had a scar on my upper lip caused by an accident in bicycle when I was 10 years old, everyone told me (YOU WILL NEVER PLAY THE TRUMPET). Now I've been studying it for 4 months with a percussionist who studied the trumpet in America. In Italy piston trumpets are used, rotary valves are used for the bass tuba and French horns. They say that rotary valves are more agile than pistons but the sound is less powerful. I don't know where you are from, from personal experience (I speak as a clarinet professor) in Italy in terms of study methods we are far behind America. My first music teacher who taught me the basics of the clarinet was a trumpeter (1935/2022). He had a trumpet like that of Harry James, and he was the first in Italy to study Harry James' method (no pressure), he told me that the trumpet was tied to the ceiling by the bell, I mouthed down low, where only the lips and played without touching the trumpet. This American system is still used in Italian conservatories, but holding the trumpet between the two thumbs. But here in terms of concept I'm very behind, they say that the trumpet is played from the low A below the treble clef staff up to the C/D above the staff, maximum E! My teacher who studied in America, with the trumpet in Bb reaches the last Bb of the piano on the high note like nothing, it's the same thing with the pedals, he reaches the bottom of the piano, he plays jazz... This is thanks to the American studies.

@@GinoCerutti-z5f Hello Gino, greetings from Texas, USA. I am so glad that you enjoy watching my videos. I am sorry that you have to translate your message word for word. UA-cam does provide a translation that I am able to touch on and it translates your message. However, it may not be exactly how you may have said it. Thank you very much for sharing your musical journey with me. It is great that you have decided to take up the trumpet. If your desire is strong enough for something then you will accomplish whatever you set your mind to do. It is really great that you are a music teacher. The main reason that I post these videos is for education so that the younger generation will learn more about brass instruments and the history of these brass instruments. I have quite a few instruments that were made in Italy. Some of them were made by Cazzani & Ramponi. They are very well made instruments and play extremely well. I am familiar with the (no pressure) method of playing trumpet that you were talking about. Many trumpet players say lots of good things about it. And I try to play with that technique too. The less pressure that you use the easier it will be on your embouchure and you will have more control of the instrument. I hope that your studies go well and that you will enjoy playing the trumpet. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me. I hope that you continue to enjoy my videos.
