Just saw this for sale on budk for $18, wanted a review to see if worth it. Of course my man Donnie B hooked me up. Thanks brother. For the money, it is ordered and will be added to my collection. I love big Bowies and this fits the bill.
That one goes now by Wild Turkey Handmade Western Outlaw Hunting Camping Outdoor Knife (JB) and it ain't 17 bucks ..., some sites say they're bringing that one back, but , see to belive ..
Geese in the background @ 20 min? Donnie please do tests on the 1849 Rifleman bowie (Cold Steel), thanks for this interesting post.. not my cuppa tea but would be a starter or abuser knife for not much money. That blade is a big mofo but as you point out, a bit on the slender side. Ya hey the Yugo was a bad automobile, but the Yugo Kalashnikovs and Tokarevs are dang good weapons!.. Better than the ones that being produced here at this point..
Question I'm thinking about buying that knife but is it good for bushcraft hunting and survival and defense and I'm planning on buying the timber rattler outlaw Bowie but which would you recommend the bigfoot Bowie is cheaper so might buy it but is the bigfoot Bowie really good please I need advice
I will add that after being all over Asia, I know that Asians never waste anything. I have a Pakistani throwing dagger made out of marine grade stainless. They might have had a contract to make swords then made cheap knives with what was left over. China is the same way. I have been amazed by removing the paint off of the blade on a truck stop quality knife. Just watch some videos of a guy making a kukri or a Filipino parang. A good example of doing work an American would rather not do and if the outfit he is making it for doesn't like it he wont get paid.
OK, I'm going to buy a Bigfoot Bowie and I blame you! I love your take on the knife snobs. I did a vid on that very subject. I'll never understand what knife snob trolls get out of running down other people's
I like my Bowies Made In USA, i'd rather put the $20 towards a Ontario Marine Raider or maybe find a used one for $30. Wish we had more Made In USA options though.
I own many cheap bowies (Including the RAPTOR machete Budk sells that looks like the Predator machete) and several high end custom bowies and was considering getting one of these because I agree, I love that tip. My main knife is a custom bowie that looks a lot like this. I think the most important part of this knife is that Budk currently sells these things for only 20 bucks which is a steal. Gotta love cheap shitty knives :]
Glad I watched this first before I bought it,not quite what I needed ,I'll stick to carrying my Primitive Musso Bowie everyday I need the chop as much as the acute tip . Bowies are great work knives.
Donnie B All Day If you ever see the older tattooed guy wearing a tank to hide his gut on the beach, that’s me . But when I go in the water - it’s the great white belly in all its glory haha . ( workin On fixing that ).
I knew something was off, but I didn't realize the footage was mirrored until you said you were switching to your off-hand but it looked like you switched to your left, and I know you are left handed. Then I saw that the "dbad" on your shirt was backwards. Was it intentional? People's faces look different when mirrored, which I realized is why something seemed off the whole time. Great review as always.
Donnie , you are absolutely right about these Pakistan blades . A lot of it is mystery steel ( probably 440 stainless ? ) but they are very inexpensive and will do the job . You will probably have to sharpen more often though . I do like a big lanyard hole on such a big blade though ! You have a stunning beach too ! Thank you for the straight talk , best wishes from the UK!
Nice beach area and stories that came with em....Cool low budget blade but what a huge blade....Those sheaths are always garbage as thanks for the share.....Good stuff...
It's good you didn't miss the tree when throwing that BEAST! It would have taken out your beautiful new fence! I was just looking at a Bigfoot Victorinox on SMKW. I may have to get both.
Awesome review but like they say” you get what you pay for” but for under $20 you can not go wrong; looks like it needs a little work but it will serve you well. Now I will have to do a review on a budget blade I have had a while.
The first time I ever saw this knife was in a magazine in about 83' or 84' and it was called the Bigfoot bowie even then. It said it was made by the Tiffany Family Knives

Kinda looks like the Predator knife (also you used to be Avatar Aang 😂)
Its a generic Predator design

I would take the Szco High Carbon Bowie over both since neither are built for bushcrafting, but they'll both do everything else equally

exactly
I bought mine at Virginia Beach 10 years ago. It isn't a Hibben... But it gets the job done. It's more of a "boyfriend" intimidator.
Haha! Absolutely
Above your light switch. The light reflecting off the wall looks like a Bowie knife lol. 😂

I really like the shape of that blade. It would be a really cool knife out of 1/4" 1070 or 1095. Another cool addition to your bowie collection. :)
I agree
