This is one of the most beautiful songs ever, by any people or any musicians. I own this album, bought it many years ago... In some of the hardest times in my life, this particular song has brought me out of a dark place and given me joy. I don't know what the words mean but to me it means the Circle of Life and Death, Joy and Pain, Light and Dark and that the Circle always comes back and never ends.
Found this song recently and it helps me too at the moment with struggles. I googled the meaning: May the stars carry your sadness away, May the flowers fill your heart with beauty, May hope forever wipe away your tears. And, above all, may the silence make you strong!
I know exactly what you're talking about. Everything in my body seems to wake up and I feel so much passion, and so many emotions all at once. I believe it comes from feeling a part of our past lives come alive within in us, reminding us of who we were, where we came from and who we were always meant to be. Whatever it is - it makes me feel good, and I will cherish and hold on to it.
This song isn't Native, The vocals are an authentic Sami joik called "Normo Jovnna" sung by Terje Tretnes, recorded in 1994 by Dutch Channel 4 during an interview as an example of a Joik. However, despite Channel 4's denying selling the recording, it ended up by mysterious ways in Virgin Records studio in Holland. The joik is about Normo Jovnna who got this joik after he fought with a bear with his bare hands. The Sami are the indigenous people of North Europe.
It’s sung in Samisk, the language of the Saami. Samisk is spoken by the Saami in their native Northern Europe - Finland, Norway, Sweden and northwestern Russia. ua-cam.com/video/kkgRANqb0mw/v-deo.html
Magnificent video! I understand that this is not Native American but Sami from northern Europe. Essentially the images brought me emotions cause here in Canada, beautiful land where mother Earth is being killed slowly. We white ppl have caused too much destruction of native land & ppl! Bill C-45 will be the last assault that will bring tragic death... :"(
Beautiful, but it's not Native American. This song comes from the Sami of Norway. My father's people. However, the Indians are singing it very beautifully; I just wish people would realize that Whites lived in tribes also, and that it's only been the last 600 years that most have moved into cities, and towns. The Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Vandals, and Slavs were only a few; there were literally hundreds and hundreds of tribes in Europe with songs even more beautiful than this one. Perhaps the Native Americans will research more into the lives of these people, and bring back more songs to sing.

these are south Americans singing a song of the sami people of northern Europe,..........in essence, this is not a native american song.
