    I tried this recipe almost exactly 3 years ago and it was THE BEST double chocolate chip cookie recipe I've ever had in my life (just so perfectly gooey and chocolatey--exactly what I'd want from my favorite type of cookie). I finally got to try an actual Levain double chocolate chip cookie this year and I can confidently say that they don't even come close to this recipe. This recipe is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION and I'm sooooooo glad I tried it back in 2020!!!

    I made this 30 minutes ago. And I actually had to increase cook time by 5 more minutes coz my first batch turned out like in the video, and to my own preference, I don't quite like it, so I bake it a little longer and it's in the right texture for my 2nd batch. Definitely tastes very heavenly. It's the most gorgeous chocolate cookie I've ever seen and tasted. 🍫🍪

    Tried it and wife, kids and family and they love it. I have to make a double batch every time I make it, they don't last. The only thing I did different to add another taste was add butterscotch chips to it with the choc. chip. So I used 400 grams of choc. chip and 200 of butterscotch chips (for 2 batches) in order to keep more of the chocolate flavor . I used Selbourne brand for butterscotch chips which is rich in flavor, not to promote there product, but was one of the better brands that I saw and can smell the difference in quality.
    I also use this same recipe to make a special cookie for my daughter, minus the choc. chip and cocoa powder and added 300 grams white choc. chip and sprinkles (40 grams of sprinkles) and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. That was a big hit as well

    Followed the recipe and did half peanut butter chips & half milk chocolate chunks instead of just chocolate chips. Oh my they are so so beautiful!! Didn’t realise the peanut butter chips I used had salt in them, in which case i would probably reduce the salt I put in the dough, but other than that they were divine! So glad I came across this recipe!

    This recipe is beyond sweet by the looks of it. 250gr of combined sugar for 113gr butter. That's insane!! And the addition of semi sweet chocolate will render this recipe inedible. If you're able to eat 1 6oz cookie, i guarantee your teeth will rot and fall out the next day sweet. I suggest cut the sugar quantity in half and add 150gr of dark chocolate chips instead if 300gr.

    I have granulated brown sugar so the texture is quite different. Will that do good with the recipe? And is there any way I can make like the brown sugar your using coz all the cookie videos I saw use this one!

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons 2 роки тому +1

      Yes a hand mixer would work! The butter should still be cold but not so hard that you can't work with it. So closer to room temp is good! 👍🏼

    Did you used convection oven for this? I tried but i think its still raw inside after 10-13mins

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons 3 роки тому

      No I didn't! If it's raw inside, cook it longer. If you feel it's browning too much on the outside but isn't cooked through inside, then lower the temperature and cook a couple minutes longer.
      To check for doneness, break the cookie open after letting it rest for 10 minutes after taking out from the oven. The cookies are meant to finish cooking/set fully as they cool down.

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons 4 роки тому +2

      Yes, I'm sure it could, but because I haven't tried it myself I'm not sure what other ingredients would have to be adjusted to compensate for the decrease in protein. Possibly a bit less baking powder.

      Hm...cake flour usually yields softer results. This cookie is already quite soft on the inside so I'm not sure of the ratios if you were to use cake flour. Sorry for that!

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons 4 роки тому

      Technically yes, but I'm not sure how it will affect the end result if you only used white sugar. The different types of sugar yield different textures and moisture levels and even fluffyness. White sugar is also sweeter, so try using 3/4 cup white granulated sugar and no brown sugar. See how that comes out. Good luck, let me know how it goes!

      Do you have a hand mixer? That would work.
      But I do not recommend melting the butter. At most it can be softened butter that you're able to whip using a whisk (if you don't have any electronic mixer)
