  • www.autobytel.c... The Toyota Land Cruiser has been around since the early 1950's when it was built for military use during the Korean War. A few years later the Land Cruiser became a capable civilian vehicle that could handle off-road conditions. The current 200-series Land Cruiser has morphed into a large luxury SUV but still retains its hard-core off-road ability. The 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser has a base price of $78,555.
    For almost 60 years Toyota has been producing the Land Cruiser. This is a legendary off-road vehicle that has built a reputation for not only being capable but durable as well. Not to be confused with the Land Rover, the Land Cruiser really has some unique styling cues about it. The Land Cruiser has always been designed to be a gifted off-road sport utility vehicle and in many countries this is used as a police or military vehicle still to this day. Over the decades the Land Cruiser has really evolved; it's been manufactured in all shapes and sizes. Here in the U.S. we primarily get the 8-passenger 4-door version.
    Back in 1999, the Land Cruiser was converted over from a 6-cylinder to a V-8 which elevated the SUV's status to a more family friendly vehicle. Today there is a 5.7 liter V-8 engine that makes 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is 13 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on the highway.
    Overall the interior is great with the Land Cruiser having the ability to carry 8-passengers in comfort. The 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser offers an amazing driving experience. Its size is not too large like a Suburban. Instead the Land Cruiser is the ideal size for an 8-passenger large SUV. This is a great vehicle that you will want to keep in your family for a long time.

    I love Toyota Land Cruiser, I remember when I was in Saudi Arabia that's my service, no SUV or truck could stand the heat and environment like the Toyota land cruiser, it will bring you to places you want to go. Its cooling system is the best in the industry.

      so true my father has a FJ40 Land Cruiser and that thing has over 800,000miles with the original engine, gearbox, diffs and it runs like it drove out of the show room yesterday (but he last year he replaced the body with an aluminum one)

    I agree, Toyota could do better considering its price. However, one must remember that the price you pay does not necessarily go to luxury as it does with Range Rover. The price mainly goes toward reliability. The Range Rover will typically give problems in 6-7 years, where as the Land Cruiser will go 15 years + easily, assuming both car are well taken care of.

    I have a cruiser ute. bloody pricey but once you drive one you understand why. Really is rock solid and reliable even though it sounds like a cliché. Done 70000km towing a 3.5tonne drill rig and still no dramas. Epic machine

    I currently own the LC80 and LC200.. I have also had 3 LC100.. I love them all, but stay away from the 4.0 V6 in the bigger trucks that works well on an FJ but when you put that engine in these big trucks it is very under powered

      ivan f In Saudi Arabia it is around $90,000-$100,000 depending on where you are buying it from, their is no tax in Saudi Arabia so the car has a fixed price.

      @ivanf2808 9 років тому

      sherif elsharkawy oh... i see, i thought LC in Saudi are more cheaper than here but still probably some of car are more cheaper than in here, but anyway my friends have the LC Prado, even though its not as big and more powerful as the LC 200 but still i guess its worth to buy ! :)

    • @Voltedge89
      @Voltedge89 8 років тому

      +ivan f depends on what trim i purchased a 2012 and the new gen 2016 just came
      for the 2012 models in 2012
      it was as follows
      GXR v8 4.6 308 HP fully loaded without leather seats it costs around 56k
      VXR a 5.6 liter engine 368 HP similer to the one in the video costs around 72k USD
      the new generation is almost the same price (its around 3000-5000 USD more expensive) because the land cruiser in kuwait in 2014 was being sold 6500 USD cheaper than the 2012-2013 model because of the heavy competition in kuwait with the Nissan patrol Y62 .
      for the Americans who say its too expensive ,its one of the few cars that i can trust to drive 200 miles of sand dunes in the temperature of 120 F daily for 7 years and it wont even bother to show any wear .
      there are people outside the US that drive their cars for 70k miles each year in extreme heat and terrains , and they only change oil and filter no luxury maintenance
      the only cars that can take the hardest envirement with ease are the toyota land cruiser and the nissan patrol .

    There is rumor in our place that RR owners dont greets each other on workplace - they did it in the dealer workshop before they came to work.

    Go to the lexus website and spec up the LX similarly to the LC which comes fully trimmed (there are no options) and you will see that the base lx is more expensive than the full spec LC. That explains the price. I own a 2013 LC to be honest the RR drives better on road there is no comparison. But the RR cost too much unless you took the base model. The LC is decent enough on road, better than the RR off road, carries more people, will last longer with fewer problems.

    @jimmyhoffa9 Not London, but of course people still buy them I didn't mean it in that sense. But the market has shrunk 10 years ago full size luxury SUV's were everywhere (I live in NYC) around here Range Rover's and Escalade's are a dime a dozen but other full size SUV's are much rarer sights than before.

    why does he say that a Suburban is too big? for a lot of people a Suburban is just right and is a lot more capable and gets about 1 mpg less fuel economy. The greater wheel base of the Suburban is really nice to have under many circumstances. Every vehicle has plusses and minuses, but the fact that this guy makes the stupid statement that a Suburban is "just too big" shows that he really is not a "car guy". My mother has owned many Suburbans and she and I found them ridiculously pleasant and easy to drive.

    • @MaZEEZaM

      a larger vehicle doesnt necessarily mean better under all circumstances for example driving through the bush or up a river banked by trees a narrower or shorter vehicle may be better.

    • @nyak63RUS
      @nyak63RUS 10 років тому +1

      I agree, the Land Cruiser has every bit of luxury anyone needs (except for perhaps air suspension, but it's rare that that becomes a serious need) but I think he's more referring to the brand. There's no denying that a Range Rover carries much more panache than a Toyota. That said, who cares? The beauty of the Land Cruiser is in its capability and no-nonsense approach. It's confidence without cockiness.

    • @sebastianvedia12345
      @sebastianvedia12345 10 років тому

      nyak63RUS yes you are right no air suspension but the reason is because this car needs to be tough and last forever those fancy electronic air suspensions wont be able to take as much stress as solid old school suspension plus i would assume the air would need more maintenance
      that is true but i would argue that range rovers have more prestige to the brand in the US and some of europe...but in countries in africa south/central america australia and asia the land cruiser is the epitome of a luxury car, so if u own one you have truly made it in life ppl dont buy range rovers..

    Well I can only speak of the area I am familiar with, here imports are very popular, tons of Toyotas and Hondas and very few Land Cruisers, people rather buy Highlanders and RX 350's cause we don't need 4 wheel drive, those who do just buy pickups. I see plenty of 3rd world videos and there are tons of Hilux and older Land Cruisers as well.

  • @pedrof830

    This current version approaches the LX 470 in price but the latter is much more luxurious, Toyota should indeed get rid of the poor selling Sequoia and lower the price on this one and you will see more of them out on the street.

  • @bmwmsport11

    I always though the Land Cruiser had a interior to compare to a Range Rover...it's nowhere near a Range Rover. The interior build quality is solid and rich looking, but isn't as good as the LX570. But atleast the interior doesn't creak and rattle like a Range Rover. Plus, these are one of the most reliable cars you can buy.

    I don't understand why anyone would buy this over the Lexus LX570. They are basically identical vehicles, and at these prices the difference in cost is insignificant. With the Lexus you not only get a longer warranty, a higher resale value, but most importantly the prestige of owning a Lexus. I think Toyota should redesign the Sequoia and rename it Land Cruiser. It would make the Lexus even more exclusive, while still giving Toyota a full sized luxury SUV. Doing that would be a win win for both Toyota & Lexus.

      LX doesn't have a locking rear diff, and has a more street focused suspension. Also, lexus maintenance costs more than make up for any value retention advantage it has over the LC.

      ***** My mom had a 2008 LX 470 and it was a pice of crap. She paid $71k for it. For $71k you should have leather, nav, safety, real materials and a nice interior. It had leather, nav, safety. But the wood trim looked so fake the materials made to look like aluminum was just cheap flimsy plastic and the interior looked like a highlander interior. So they made be reliable but they're still pieces of crap. Goodbye loser ;)
