It wasn’t all fake. My friend was a producer on the show. It got significantly more fake as time went on. Once Kristin arrived it was basically all scripted and fake. But before that, it was just kind of manipulated by the producers. A lot of the cast didn’t know they were being manipulated, however. So it was basically manipulated reality.
