Want to give a big shoutout to all of the electricians who put all of their scraps neat and tidy in a box or contractors bag, your consideration does not go unnoticed 👍
I picked up a VEVOR Electric Wire Stripping Machine, 0.06''-1.26' and let me tell ya definitely made stripping wire 100% faster even makes doing most #2 worth it
That bigger 3-conductor cable is usually for the main house service connection aka the "feeder". Usually anything that draws bigger than 60 amps is gonna be aluminum cuz of cost and weight, though in residential ya can't use aluminum wiring except in the service feeder. The armored+pvc wrapped stuff is called "TECK-90" or just "teck" cable. And yup, rated for outdoors, buried, and water exposure. Happy treasure hunting, Thub! And stay warm!
I’m electrical contractor in Saskatchewan. Most likely that chunk of cable with the aluminum in it was probably for a hot tub they were wiring. You can use copper or aluminum. It’s called tech cable and used where it needs protection from damage. Going from house outside to a hot tub.
It's bad luck to smell banana when it's quite possible you're going to theatrically, cartoonishly, Charlie-Brown-with-the-footballishly... slip and fall...
Scooter likely can be sold for parts. It helps buyer more than seller. I tried to sell $1000 retail pump for $10, but didn't sell, but at least I try not to waste. Just have to try listing.
My friend, grab that fir/hemlock closet rod dowel material! It has layers of value: Some used building material outfits will pay by the foot, it’s also something that always comes in handy, or simply good fuel in a pinch
Very cool electrical contractor you met. Super tight of him to offer a red bull. That said, it seemed like he wasn't aware copper and other metals were worth money!
Hey Thub, you might have covered this before, but I would like to ask, what so of radius in miles do you do from home, to dumpster dive? or do you just target a certain area, and go for it?, cheers Thub, keep doing ya thing, leave it better than you found it!
What’s the verdict on the fluorescent tube fixtures. They don’t weight much and are bulky. I’ve done it both ways, took fixture home and cleaned up and also just took the wires out of the fixtures and left them behind at dumpster.
Bigger gauge aluminium wire is usually your service line to the meter base and to the panel. As long as they use the proper paste on the terminals there isn't corrosion between dissimilar metals. That wrap is to protect the cable under ground.
I’m actually still using the 8! I shoot in 60fps tho, so that helps a little. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for awhile but they’re basically all the same now
Nice video. You scap like i do. I check alot of new construction if its accessible. And also heating and air spots if they are ok with getting the scrap. Asking permission is key.
I would of kept that chair. It was definitely pretty old and it had great lines and probably would of brought a pretty penny if refinished and reupholstered.
That aluminum wire your finding is called. Arc cable 3phase that's what they use on homes an power lines. So copper theft would stop. That's why ac units mostly now days the new ones doesn't have much copper. Copper an brass are bout 2or3 best high payin.
@8:27 the truck normaly has a magnet in it at all times, i assume? vuse vape stick batterie have magnets at the bottom, i usaly have one of those in my pocket
that is armored underground cable - that would be the excess they cut off before connecting - Aluminum is making a comeback since copper is so expensive these days - you just have to go a couple gauges thicker because it does not conduct as well
I live in an area where beverage containers are sold with a $0.10 deposit that is refunded when the bottle is returned. There is essentially a bounty on them which isn’t reflective of their recycling value, so you can save them up and bring in bags of them for cash

You're my absolute favorite scrapper to watch. I've enjoyed every video that you have made. You do one fabulous job at teaching too. ❤
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.

Legend, thank you! It’s just a pleasure to be here ☺️
Another GREAT DAY!!! I am ALWAYS happy to see you succeed!!
Be SAFE & Stay AWESOME!
My friend used to dumpster dive for a living, but he lost a leg in an accident so now he works at IHOP
😂
🤦🏻♂️
Bruh 😂😂🎉
It’s so tragic when your life gets thrown out of balance
Similar joke told on Mike the Scavenger video about a week ago. Basically a copycat here
Your videos are my favorite part of my Friday afternoons.
The stare that contractors give trash pandas....honestly, just trying to make a living like everone else.
It comes with the territory
The aluminum wire is the power supply line from the service provider, they don't use copper as much anymore.

The Aluminum is ACWU 90. Teck 90 is Copper.

And I thought I was cold this morning in Los Angeles, where it was 47°F! You are a true Baller!
Really good wire score
0:32 🇺🇲 Hawaii 🤙

Great job as always, keep up the great work.
I always take the metal wrapped hoses on shower attachments. Half of the time the wrapping is steel, the other half it's thin brass.
I LOVE TO STRIPING ROMAX WIRE WHEN YOU CAN'T GET OUT ON A COLD /RAINY KINDA DAY. OR JUST ANY DAY
I get so nervous when you hop in the big bins! 😂❤️💙
Oh me too lol!
Decent wire haul
Always fun to see a Thub video!
There’s a level of excitement that you get when you hit the motherload of wire! Strip the 12guage romex.
Nice haul buddy! Way to get after it in the cold. Careful when opening those dusty bags, you never know what's in it.
Strip all that can be stripped including those around ones. Not as hard as you think, I do it myself in Winnipeg in the winter.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Polski 🇵🇱👍👍👍
Neoprene thub. I find it often diving commercial renovation dumpsters. Copper wire alternative I believe.
Makes me want to dumpster "fall". Only good thing about cold weather is the time to watch great scrapping videos! Awesome video my friend!!
awwwww @ 16:53 I love you too Thubs!!!
Good knowledge video god bless you brother 💞
Scooter likely can be sold for parts. It helps buyer more than seller. I tried to sell $1000 retail pump for $10, but didn't sell, but at least I try not to waste. Just have to try listing.
your videos are soo chill
Awesome video Thub

Thank you
Dope video watched the whole thing thx for sharing, !!!
Nice finds
Oh my goodness I'm cold just watching, our country grindes to a halt in snow 😂
"Today is not cold, temperatures back into the positives"🤣
Very cool electrical contractor you met. Super tight of him to offer a red bull. That said, it seemed like he wasn't aware copper and other metals were worth money!
Good
Job!
Great video , wish we could dumpster dive in uk , not aloud to over here 😭
Looked like a beauty day doing what you love Bro. I just got my calender and right on proceeds going to a great cause 😃👍
Beautiful oak banister, what a sad waste 😢
I love thub videos
Thankyou for recycling..Yes i see what you see.

I reckon there was lots more in that skip, but it does get awkward when everyone's looking. But you still did well.
The subtle "This is why we leave the house" when you found a bunch of wire in a cardboard dumpster got me laughing🤣
need a little side cutter on a string to carry along so you can "snip snip" the copper wires out of those old fluorescent fixtures.
What’s the verdict on the fluorescent tube fixtures. They don’t weight much and are bulky. I’ve done it both ways, took fixture home and cleaned up and also just took the wires out of the fixtures and left them behind at dumpster.
💚💚💚
Sweet!
O Canada,.Might have to have an old folks transitional day special, can't take it with you, don't be a hoarder Nana, lol.
That thick heavily insulated aluminum wire is tek cable. Used for main wiring of a new home to connect to main hydro line. They used to be copper
Nope. It's ACWU 90. Teck 90 is Copper. Too small for a main feeder. Probably for a Hot tub or electric furnace.
@darrenwoloshyn the 9 homes I've built from the ground up in the last 3 years might disagree with u. At least here in Ontario Canada.
By the way must pallets are hard woods the make great firewood for your fireplace
People know what you’re doing. Why do they have to even ask. Good score on the wire
Yeap.. snow and cold kinda put a kink in things.
3 and 4 strand alluminum wire is what new homes are hooked up to for power here in Texas.
Bigger gauge aluminium wire is usually your service line to the meter base and to the panel. As long as they use the proper paste on the terminals there isn't corrosion between dissimilar metals. That wrap is to protect the cable under ground.
Your ride alongs are great! Which go pro are you using? The footage is smooth.
I’m actually still using the 8! I shoot in 60fps tho, so that helps a little. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for awhile but they’re basically all the same now

I need finds like this 😢
أحسنت 👍
If you were to repair the corner cabinet, you could get around $20.00 for it. Take care and stay safe
@9:34 i imagine you have a leather utility belt, with every bit and socket possible. a holster for the drill. batman style.
I would of kept that chair. It was definitely pretty old and it had great lines and probably would of brought a pretty penny if refinished and reupholstered.
Oh look, a strawberry!
Hello from ontario
B m w rims are very valuable. Definitely try to sell them .

Nope, That's ACWU 90. Single phase or 3 phase depending on the number of conductors.
@8:27 the truck normaly has a magnet in it at all times, i assume? vuse vape stick batterie have magnets at the bottom, i usaly have one of those in my pocket

Feels like you left some copper wire out there today. Are you going for a follow up?
Chair 😮
They make something called a dirty little stripper they sell them on amazon
Thub word of advise
Slice 6” on the end of romex and grab two wires with pliers and pull apart like a wishbone
Done
Isoamyl Acetate
Could have been in that dumpster.. be careful..
NON-bananas
Aluminum feed to the house and copper inside.
careful burning wood that has been painted or treated or varnished, I was drooling watching you grab all that wire great video
It does feel awful when someone questions what you are doing in a skip ,as I’m sure in the uk you have to ask for permission if on a property
Fish Poutine. It's a thing.
I used to live on gas station food , glad I stopped eating that crap , tasty but not too good for you
3rd
aluminum cables are used aa a cheap transmission lines where wright and girth is not an issue.
It's what they are using instead of copper three times diameter aluminum copper coatedd
It's not copper coated. Its Aluminum ACWU 90.
Am I first?
no, you are a bot
@Nobe_Oddy I've been called worse
Why do you gather plastic water bottles?
I live in an area where beverage containers are sold with a $0.10 deposit that is refunded when the bottle is returned. There is essentially a bounty on them which isn’t reflective of their recycling value, so you can save them up and bring in bags of them for cash
@thubprint thank you for explanation!
Gday
@21:00 score. i need to find a place to sell my vape batteries.
I would have kept the chair.
Never turn down free caffeine. If he'd offered a Monster & you said no thanks..I'd have to un-subscribe😅
4th
should've take that scooter and sold it to someone else for their project
Microwaves now not worth the work take them as is
Tomorrow
2nd
Why you fishing through boxes full of wires just grab it and be gone
you waste many good opportunities to get scrap.
Why would you burn painted wood? Typical American
He's Canadian.
URGENT, URGENT, URGENT, FRANTIC!
From my previous comments before, please read and respond kid....
By the way, EXCELLENT SCORE!❤❤
