  • Welcome to our channel! In this video, we delve into the profound wisdom of C.S. Lewis and his timeless book, "The Four Loves," exploring how these loves are essential for every man’s success and fulfillment in life. Whether you've grown up without a father figure or struggled with maintaining relationships, friendships, and jobs, this video is for you.
We will discuss four types of love as defined by Lewis-Storge, Phileo, Eros, and Agape-and connect each to biblical principles to show their importance in our lives:
    1. Storge - The Hobby or Interest:
Storge, or affection, is the love of familiarity and the joy found in everyday things. C.S. Lewis writes, "Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives." We tie this to Genesis 1:28, where God calls us to "have dominion over the earth." This is our call to cultivate culture, art, and more. Every man needs a hobby or interest to spark creativity and joy.
    2. Phileo - Brotherly Love:
Phileo, the love between friends, is essential for support and growth. Lewis describes it as the moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’ The Bible highlights Phileo through the friendships of David and Jonathan, and Ruth and Naomi. Strong friendships provide support, challenge us to grow, and make life’s journey richer.
    3. Eros - Passionate Love:
Eros is the romantic love that drives us to connect deeply with another person. Lewis explains Eros as "that state which we call 'being in love'." In Genesis 2:18, God says, "It is not good for man to be alone," and commands us in Genesis 1:28 to "be fruitful and multiply." Eros is about finding someone who understands and quenches our deepest desires, adding a vital spark to life.
    4.Agape - Divine Love:
Agape is unconditional, selfless love, described by Lewis as 'charity' or the love that God has for us. This is seen in Genesis 3:8, where God walks in the garden seeking a relationship with humanity, and in His promise of the Messiah in Genesis 3:15. Agape is all-giving and provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment, connecting us to something greater.
Join us as we explore how these loves are not only essential but deeply rooted in biblical teachings. Embrace Storge by finding a hobby, nurture Phileo with strong friendships, explore Eros through passionate relationships, and seek Agape for a deeper spiritual connection.
