I feel like he's saying this because he knows what it feels like to be ignored. All of them know that feeling, but Namjoon and Yoongi especially. They were ignored, mistreated, scammed and rejected by the underground hip-hop community- a community they were passionate about. And it's not like the K-pop community had a warm welcome in store, either. Bang Si hyuk, also being an artist, was critisised for letting BTS debut. So they all know the burden and pain of being ignored, well. This speech was not only directed towards idols and idol groups, but also musicians/artists in general. I think it was very outspoken of him to address this issue in today's music/art industry.
Edit: A leader should always use their platform to spread awareness and word about injustice in society.

@BLACK or maybe something challenging would come around. they want an obstacle to win over and for that, they work hard. It's like winning something you worked hard on in a way that's fulfilling. So winning will be full of surprises and excitement again.
@BLACK for me it's exciting this way so that the boys will be motivated and get pumped up. They will feel nervous when receiving awards. Because at this point of their popularity, everybody knows who's going to win.

Usually kpop acts would get super popular for like a year or two then their popularity dies or fades. But for BTS this is not the case. They keep escalating higher. Maybe until nobody can reach them.
And with that they kept on winning everything straight.
honestly the khiphop one hit hard cuz rm was actually really popular underground before he decided to be an idol. Then they turned there backs on them and their music.
RM is so respectable ... he is such a fluent speaker but is able to portray the emotions needed to deliver this speech with confidence instead of just saying recycled words god his intelligence is so sexy

I was really amazed by how he see the world, he speak words which are trully incredible, much for someone like him. Too unique for an IDOL like him. Although he stepped aside his teenage and youthful days, He still manage to grow and improved his mindset amazingly. All love for namjoon :(.

what I also love about BTS is that they always wish the best for all the artists. namjoon even talked about other artists still working hard in shadow, unseen,ignored and nj said that he hopes their hardworks will pay off. They are so humble. Also they wish that rookies won't experience what bts went through in the past years. Its bc bts and armys have already suffered a lot of hardships and difficulties and we know how it feels. I really do hope cheating,saboting, maipulating,etc. won't continue. I hope 2020 will be a better year!

it's also rare to see idols talk about other artists and musicians while giving a speech for their OWN award. BTS, and especially RM, is truly a class of their own.
RM'S speech is so humble that I can watch it over and over and never get tired of his incredible speech.

I remember that interview with wonho I'm not a fan of their group but I appreciate how he actually took Rm's speech into heart. I wish the new idol generation will actually learn to value music, and that they're actually in for the music not just because the company wants them to earn $$$. Remember BTS always emphasizes that music is their passion. You can feel the sincerity and love for their craft hence Army's are growing and will always there to support them. It's not all about visuals, or who can dance well, these groups can do that. BTS however can truly inspire and connect with people in so many levels.

Freedomofspeech24 I love JYP Artists .They are usually chill and supportive .I think that’s why JYP and big hit were the two companies who made the largest profits in 2019 because their artists seem to be sincere compared to others who look like they were forced to become idols .And if you watch how BTS enjoy their performance and they can’t do the same back for them ,well except Twice and Itzy who enjoy it’s just so disappointing

Coming back here to say that BTS's whole career is such a beautiful story.. They were ignored, disrespected, called names, and below everyone.. and now they're bagging awards left and right, are grammy nominated, worldwide suoerstars, and have still kept their genuine respect towards everyone except those who did them wrong. It's amazing. I hope they keep winning and get every record possible before the end. They will be history and armys will make sure they are not forgotten.

i might be a little late but since i saw several comments regarding other idols' 'plain' reaction, i want to give an answer about this.
bts is a very very very huge group and they had the chance to say what they want to say and that's an advantage. rm's speech is completely amazing here. the reason why most idols didn't give any reaction is because this is quite a sensitive issue to talk about publicly esspecially when ure not a huge artist. MANY had tried to say it out loud but since they're small, didn't have the recognization, they ended up getting sued and stuff. this is why other idols didn't give him a damn reaction because they didn't want to cause a chaos and issue. tbh i bet everyone wanted to stand up and give them standing ovation but they couldn't. as you can see, gidle was paying so much attention. they clapped for him quietly. this is because gidle themselves are facing some difficulties. if you pay attention to every groups, you can see that they're lowkey looking at each other. they talked with each other abt his speech. pls dont say something bad about their reaction. its not like they're ignorant or selfish or rude. but the topic joon was talking about is sensitive and im proud of him for being able to point this out.

Good analyze. I would like to say too as always people judging idols via cam , that's why they won't react anymore even for the simpliest thing. I remember back at the days before 2016 , there weren't much big cam zooming on their faces & people didn't judge them so hard so they acted more freely & now that those fancam reaction is well know for business , idols won't budge to please people feelings because of misjudgment except for some who know that it won't affect them much like BTS , twice(some members)

Bts started talking about sensitive topics way before they got famous, because they were representatives of a small company they had nothing to lose because literally nobody payed attention to what they were saying and now that they have become huge, they are using their influence to spread a positive message and talking about the same sensitive topics but the difference here is that everybody is listening to them now and no one can criticize them or screw them over because they are BTS. So yeah I agree with you that not all the groups have the freedom to talk about it openly but I feel they can and they should take chances that's how people would change and the community would, sm, jyp they are all influential companies in Korea then why can't their artists be free to talk out their minds, like sm I still understand is a bit conservative but atleast jyp should. But, that does not mean they are not appreciative of Namjoon's speech, honestly you cannot judge how they are feeling by just watching a mere reaction cam.
I just realized... these are the same artists except rookies like G-Idle who had more screentime than BTS on award shows way back BTS wasn't that big, but look how the tables have turned now. BTS is bigger than them now. The only difference is that BTS cheered and showed respect for those artists while the artists (some... most, actually) now sitting on their seats seem bored and uninterested.
Palak Jagdale shes meaning to say that even though bts grew exceptionally way more popular than the idols that once had the upperhand and always respected those idols but now the table has shifted except these idols don’t show the enthusiasm bts once and still has for them. this has nothing against rookies like gidle!

I feel like they got ignored by all the idols throughout the show (except twice) during there performance half of them didn’t even clap at the end. You can’t say they were tired cuz if u had enough energy to walk back to your seat then you can have enough to clap for them. I just find whoever seemed like they were ignoring them rude. They are giving amazing and inspirational speeches but it’s like they get completely ignored but idk it’s just my point of view.

Yeah.. I hope other idols will learn something about namjoon, specially on how to behave and act appropriately. Also, to change their 'bad' personality towards other idols.
You can never make the "they're tired" excuse for some of these artists because basically clapping won't lose you too much energy and it doesn't seem like their hands are 3kg each that would make this excuse valid. There is also one group that i kept on noticing on every reaction videos that are always "meh" whenever bts are on stage (either performing or accepting an award).

this is what we called a true leader , he didn't just talk about BTS , army and bighit but he even mentioned other artists . this is what happened when you started from bottom , you know how it's feel to be mistreated , getting ignored , didn't get enough attention like other artists . namjoon or bts know exactly how it's feels , that's why many time i saw rn after BTS win daesang awards they always mentioned other artists not to feel down but they even congratulate them and even said hope their music reach to everyone .

No offence to anyone, but I feel like some artists are kinda irritated? I'm not sure what, but it's kinda an ignorant feeling. Like, they took long to get up and immediately sat down when BTS weren't even off the seating area. (Not all of them).

i hope one day BTS make a music how dark this kpop industry actually is , what we just see are idols singing and dancing happily on the stage but we didn't see ( ig kpop fans already know it ) what kpop idols , trainee and the companies going through . the trainees that didn't hv any companies yet , the trainees that waiting for years to debut , the trainees that were forced to follow kpop beauty standard and strict diet , the idols that already debut but didn't famous or didn't make it and the idols that famous too . all people that involves in kpop you guys are the most strongest person itw ngl
