It's more like the best crew at routines. Would they have as much wins going head to head without routines? We don't know that answer. You can make a good argument that they are the best, but for me it comes with an asterisk.
@@headhunteroriginal crew battles are about routine so that only emphasizes why they are so good. I would argue their greatest strength is their individual talent. Its the most stacked team till this day not counting Red Bull Bc One or those temporary or side teams. With single tournament champions like Wing, Vero, Skim, FE, Octopus and parttimer Hong10 it makes sense why they win more oversea than any other team despite having the homefield advantage against them.
@BlaneNetherlands what I mean by traditional crew, is the group of guys you grew up with and all progressed together, with a few people joining over the years that slowly became a part of the crew organically, more like a family. What has happened over time is the growth of the events, with bigger cash prizes for winners, caused the mindset to shift to winning the prize. Another factor at this time was the role the internet played in promoting events and the message boards that became the town square for the scene. I was breaking from 1999 to about 2007, and my crew was head hunters from bay area California. We started winning most of our local events, which led to us testing ourselves on the bigger stage in los angeles. We faired well in these larger events, we would make it to finals often, but this is where we would go against killafornia which is a los angeles crew made up of the best one or two guys from all the crews in so cal, making a super team that is not an actual crew. They did this to make sure they win and they did. Thats what i see jinjo as, a team of hand picked talent put together to win, they are not a real crew to me. They are an all star team like red bull bc one all stars. Respect 🙏
Hijack is Fire! Jinjo had that advantage on the routines especially in a Battle of the Year battle. I'd like to see a rematch in another tourney like Freestyle Session or Fluido Jam again.
For over a decade crew routines are what made Boty battles boring to watch (also the very low energy music played during battles and the near sleeping live audience), they should limit it to one crew routine per battle and no more than 1 minute each crew routine. Crew routines should be for shows, in battles we want solo dancers energy, originality and difficulty in moves like the 1997 to 2009 Golden Era where events gathered more live audience at the event and more views on UA-cam and more sales in VHS and DVD's compared to modern boring crew routines era (Boty went from the top of the world to an average event, such mismanagement of the event and judging-politics (their same brand contract bboys and friends go first before impartiality), sad thing to watch as a bboy from the 90s to 2000s who was live at over 11 Boty events).
And no way the Squadron beat Flying Steps in 2021 Boty battle (politics). Squadron is like 1997-2001 level of bboying compared to 2005 to now level of Bboying from Flying Steps. The Redbull BC One friendship political push :-) A bit like Menno who beats everyone with average level moves and mild energy haha :-) Bboying in the last 10 years has become like many sports where not measurable performance counts but judges-friends-sponsor-politics and sponsor opinion counts. Let me guess Redbull Roxrite (stuck in time not evolving at all in the difficulty of his moves or sets for 20 years now) would win vs Bboy Malish (or Bboy Noe) in a first round event two sets due to politics :-)
