Hey enjoy the channel. Love the mellow vibe. Glai should have had one more turn at the end. The rules say, "When one player’s stock of colored plastic trains gets down to only 0,1 or 2 trains left at the end of his turn, each player, including that player, gets one final turn. The game then ends and players calculate their final scores." So the person who runs out of trains goes last.

Hi Jon. Thank you very much for that. We're very happy to hear that you are enjoying our channel! You are absolutely correct! Glai should indeed have had another turn at the end. Good spot and thanks for letting us know.

Some good tips at the end, thank you! The game that initially fueled our interest in board gaming was Carcassonne!

Carcassonne is a great Gateway game. It has some lovely art on the tiles, and simple but engaging gameplay. I still enjoy playing it from time to time!
Glad that you found the tips helpful!

Ticket to Ride: Europe is one of only two of my 70+ games I can get my wife to play. It's not a personal favourite but I appreciate the quick turns and simple rules which makes it so suitable for children and non-gamers.
My first board game, outside the Monopoly style games, was a terrible game called "Air War", but the second was "Squad Leader" which was that much better.

So you were always into war games then! Did you like Risk back then too? How about Axis and Allies?
I'm sure that there is another game out there that your wife would enjoy. I am fully convinced that there are a number of games out there for everyone, even people who think they are not into board games.
Do you still play Squad Leader?
Have you ever heard of a game called Siege? It came out in the early eighties and my brother got it for me one time. I never had anyone to play it with at the time - my friends weren't into board games, but I endlessly played with the tokens and the map and tried to figure it out. The game got lost over the years, but recently I managed to once again get my hands on it through the Geek Market on BGG!

@@AllAboardBoardgames Never got into Risk or Axis&Allies. We went straight to hardcore wargames: SL series, Gulf Strike, The Longest Day, Empires in Arms etc. It's not until later years (children...) that I've started to appreciate other types of games.
Unfortunately, I no longer have the space or the time to play the "monster" games, so "normal sized" wargames will have to do.
Never seen Siege in Sweden. I do remember seeing Cry Havoc in some game store though, and I believe they are related.

@@SIrbrastias I was a big Risk fan when I was younger, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for it now, though I have seen it get lots of hate from gamers on BGG. What medium length "gateway" wargame would you recommend us to try? Also, which wargames do you think have the best aesthetics?
Yes, I think Siege is an expansion to Cry Havoc, though it can be played standalone. I definitely want to revisit it and try it out. I haven't seen anything at all on UA-cam about so I guess we will try to do a video on it at some stage.

@@AllAboardBoardgames You ask some difficult questions, Pat. (Including what counts as a "wargame"? What is "medium length"? etc.) That said, I'll try to keep my reply as short as I can.
For a "gateway" wargame of the more classic style, I'd say "WW2 Commander", "Fighting Formations" or "Combat Commander". The upcoming "Unconditional Surrender: Western Campaigns" will probably also fit the bill.
There are many other great ones I'd like to mention, but the only way you could call them "medium length" are if you rage quit half-way through.
Regarding aesthetics, I'd say Clash of Arms games make the prettiest classical games, but GMT probably have the best combination of aesthetics, clarity and quality, with the "No Retreat" series of games being one good example of that.

@@SIrbrastias Haha... yep, I don't make it easy, do I?
Looking at your suggestions there, I realised that I know almost nothing about wargames. Sounds like most of them need a full day to sit down and play, right?
Do you have a game group that you get to play with often?

I got Ticket to Ride for Christmas :o This game is pretty old now but they keep selling it with small cards... I'm getting 1910 expansion soon just to have bigger cards.

Merry Christmas Ričardas! I'm sure you will still enjoy it with the small cards. It is a nice, fun game. The 1910 expansion should be awesome. Let us know how it is!
