As a Serb, I can tell you right away that this loss doesn't sting at all. The guys exceeded all expectations. I am hoping that they go into the match with Germany with renewed confidence after this performance, and trash them as a payback for the world cup.

Nikola Jokić played 37 minutes and every other attack went through him. The referees allowed him only four free throws. We all saw the beating he took from Embid and Davies the entire game.....He only got to the free throw line four times. A similar situation applies to Bogdanović. He spent 32 minutes in the game and only got 2 free throws. Is there anything else that needs to be said to conclude what a shameful trial it was last night?
Having refs from non basketball countries reffing a game this big, with two of the best in the world, with the winner going to the Olympic final to play gold, is a disgrace. Refs sold hard. Curry was balling, but even with him scoring 30+ and Lebron with a triple double, 12 NBA all stars needed 3 pathetic (or corrupt, pick one) to win them that game.
I am from Serbia and i was watching it on national tv. And they had one serbian player who won silver medal on 2020 or 2016 olympics and they had one more guest who was a basketball analyst... And both said what u guys mentioned which is that 6 point shot that we missed. But they both agreed just like u it was perfect game from Serbia. Maybe some shots were missed by Serbia but still a nice game... Me myself i feel like they were forcing too many 3 points in 3rd and 4th quarter and weren't hitting as much points... I think in 4th quarter they were rushing for a play. Vasa did dribble way to much and tbh i felt like whole team wasn't going for 2 point shot as much as they should have... But the real reason why they didn't go for 2 point is that when u have either Adebayo, LeBron, or Davis running at you like a high speed tank you literally can't go for two points... Jokić tried well although in my honest and just a viewer opinion this game goes to show u that you literally have to have a stack team on opposite side for them to shut down Jokić. And yeah even commenters here with th guests agreed Steph Curry did amazingly... I hated when LeBron argued whole game with refs. Refs did forget to make a call for bad 2 step movement from Embidd on one call but then later called it when he fauled one of our players... I think also refs did well and it was hilarious to watch whole USA player team be mind boggled by the strategy in 1st,2nd and 3rd quarter a bit where Serbian players were intentionally fauling USA just to make them stop from going for 3s and maybe miss free throws... Malone should pick this strategy up. But I think Popovich will be writing it all down as he follows Euroleague coaches plays especially the Serbian coach Željko Obradović(who is one of the greats)... And like you said guys, Nuggets need this drive. But they also need bit of strategic kind of play. Where you faul for a reason but then again they can't do that because referees in NBA feel like they are smoking crack sometimes while sometimes quite normal. Since referees call out a lot of questionable calls... I disliked how Embiid was floping like a fish whole game. Making an embarrassment of himself. He did in 4th quarter start hitting good two points but still should think about himself although he never will. Best he continues avoiding Nugget games... Anyway to not be so much critical of some things as a Serbian I congratulate the whole USA staff and players for the game. I love my country being from the States plus being a life long Nuggs fan, but I'd be lying if I said I wanted USA to win. I so wanted Serbia to upset them. It probably helps that I'm not crazy about Bron, Ant, KD, Curry and especially Embiid. It took a roster of NBA Hall of Famers to beat the little country of Serbia. So Serbians and Big Honey fans and Nuggs fans can hold their heads up high as they almost pulled off the upset and played so damn well.

The referees seriously damaged the Serbian team, if serious referees had judged, Serbia would certainly have won and in general was better throughout the game. This loss hit far harder than I had expected it to, Serbia could have pulled it off and that adds gravity to the impact of losing. I agree however, it was an amazing game and this tournament has been really good basketball. It's on a higher level than it used to be. I'm proud of Serbia. Bogdonavich was emotional while shaking hands. I felt for him. He was a warrior, wish we had him on our team. I loved the way he was psyching out Carmelo which was one of the intangibles that D-Line refers too that feed in experiencing the game as a participant or a fan. The energy was elevated.
No one mentions the referee of the match from Panama who destroyed Serbia with his decisions. The fourth foul by Jokic, which did not exist, and a three-pointer is counted at the same time and an attack with another three-pointer. They lost 6 points with one attack and got to -5. Then the referee's decision to give Serbia 5 fouls in the 3 minutes on the beginning 4 quarter and brought Serbia into the bonus, luckily, the Americans not took full advantage of it, but there were 4th fouls to Jokic, which no other referee would have added if he had allowed a three-pointer to be counted. All basketball connoisseurs in Serbia knew that they were stolen from the referees, and the Iraqis were not allowed to speak publicly against the referees on TV. That's why all those who played for the national team, the coaches are on YT immediately after FIBA's decision to give referee from Panama another game when Serbia play on this tournament, the semi-finalie, say this guy will be on team USA side. Serbia won the first three quarters, and then the referee from Panama started awarding in 45 seconds 3 fouls to the Serbian basketball players, then also the one from Jokic ho ruin the Serbia. Durant knocks the ball out to Bogdanovic in the middle of the court and the referees give the ball to the Americans and refuse to look even though Serbia asks for a challenge. Serbia was the better team and should have won this game, but the events in the fourth quarter where Team USA beat Serbia +19 in the last quarter. The referees who refereed the match should be banned from refereeing anywhere in the world - you give the team couch on +15 technical foul, this is not recorded in the history of basketball. The forcing of the USA and France along with the disgusting opening of the Olympiad did nothing else to improve the poor overall picture.

The reffing was extremely fishy and I'm glad I'm not the only one saying it. They called numerous fouls on Serbia where they didn't even come close to touching the player. And on the other end Serbia wasn't getting anything. It was blatantly corrupt officiating.

Alexa Avramovic, number 13, should play the 4th quarter instead of Vasilije Micic. Alexa is a much better playmaker, capable of breaking defense lines and getting inside. Vasilije is famous in Europe and has been MVP of the Euroleague Alexa had ups and downs for the last 5 years and he is playing in Russia and nobody is following the Russian league. I think a big factor was Serbia's best player got 2 minutes rest and USA's 2 best (Lebron and Steph) got 8. Jok didn't look dead like game 7 against the Wolves, but his touch was off towards the end. It was a great showing nonetheless.
Take away Jokic and Bogdanovic, and Serbia has no shot in even making the game close. Take Lebron and Steph out, and they still have other top NBA players they can rely on.

I am from Serbia and i was watching it on national tv. And they had one serbian player who won silver medal on 2020 or 2016 olympics and they had one more guest who was a basketball analyst... And both said what u guys mentioned which is that 6 point shot that we missed. But they both agreed just like u it was perfect game from Serbia. Maybe some shots were missed by Serbia but still a nice game... Me myself i feel like they were forcing too many 3 points in 3rd and 4th quarter and weren't hitting as much points... I think in 4th quarter they were rushing for a play. Vasa did dribble way to much and tbh i felt like whole team wasn't going for 2 point shot as much as they should have... But the real reason why they didn't go for 2 point is that when u have either Adebayo, LeBron, or Davis running at you like a high speed tank you literally can't go for two points... Jokić tried well although in my honest and just a viewer opinion this game goes to show u that you literally have to have a stack team on opposite side for them to shut down Jokić. And yeah even commenters here with th guests agreed Steph Curry did amazingly... I hated when LeBron argued whole game with refs. Refs did forget to make a call for bad 2 step movement from Embidd on one call but then later called it when he fauled one of our players... I think also refs did well and it was hilarious to watch whole USA player team be mind boggled by the strategy in 1st,2nd and 3rd quarter a bit where Serbian players were intentionally fauling USA just to make them stop from going for 3s and maybe miss free throws... Malone should pick this strategy up. But I think Popovich will be writing it all down as he follows Euroleague coaches plays especially the Serbian coach Željko Obradović(who is one of the greats)... And like you said guys, Nuggets need this drive. But they also need bit of strategic kind of play. Where you faul for a reason but then again they can't do that because referees in NBA feel like they are smoking crack sometimes while sometimes quite normal. Since referees call out a lot of questionable calls... I disliked how Embiid was floping like a fish whole game. Making an embarrassment of himself. He did in 4th quarter start hitting good two points but still should think about himself although he never will. Best he continues avoiding Nugget games... Anyway to not be so much critical of some things as a Serbian I congratulate the whole USA staff and players for the game. I'm thankful as ever for the Serbian staff and players who have been doing great!

I love my country being from the States plus being a life long Nuggs fan, but I'd be lying if I said I wanted USA to win. I so wanted Serbia to upset them. It probably helps that I'm not crazy about Bron, Ant, KD, Curry and especially Embiid. It took a roster of NBA Hall of Famers to beat the little country of Serbia. So Serbians and Big Honey fans and Nuggs fans can hold their heads up high as they almost pulled off the upset and played so damn well.

The referees seriously damaged the Serbian team, if serious referees had judged, Serbia would certainly have won and in general was better throughout the game. This is a great injustice for basketball, first of all, because Serbia deserved to win this game, but against such a great power as The USA against a small country like Serbia refereed by a Panamanian is unavailable and I can tell you everything they unfairly refereed towards Serbia, luckily I recorded the whole game... Shame on you referees and America should congratulate Serbia on a better game because they were better with the whole match against their best players and I have no comment about Embiid... It's a shame and I expect respect to be given to Serbia as a great basketball power...

This loss hit far harder than I had expected it to, Serbia could have pulled it off and that adds gravity to the impact of losing. I agree however, it was an amazing game and this tournament has been really good basketball. It's on a higher level than it used to be. I'm proud of Serbia. Bogdonavich was emotional while shaking hands. I felt for him. He was a warrior, wish we had him on our team. I loved the way he was psyching out Carmelo which was one of the intangibles that D-Line refers too that feed in experiencing the game as a participant or a fan. The energy was elevated.

No one mentions the referee of the match from Panama who destroyed Serbia with his decisions. The fourth foul by Jokic, which did not exist, and a three-pointer is counted at the same time and an attack with another three-pointer. They lost 6 points with one attack and got to -5. Then the referee's decision to give Serbia 5 fouls in the 3 minutes on the beginning 4 quarter and brought Serbia into the bonus, luckily, the Americans not took full advantage of it, but there were 4th fouls to Jokic, which no other referee would have added if he had allowed a three-pointer to be counted. All basketball connoisseurs in Serbia knew that they were stolen from the referees, and the Iraqis were not allowed to speak publicly against the referees on TV. That's why all those who played for the national team, the coaches are on YT immediately after FIBA's decision to give referee from Panama another game when Serbia play on this tournament, the semi-finalie, say this guy will be on team USA side. Serbia won the first three quarters, and then the referee from Panama started awarding in 45 seconds 3 fouls to the Serbian basketball players, then also the one from Jokic ho ruin the Serbia. Durant knocks the ball out to Bogdanovic in the middle of the court and the referees give the ball to the Americans and refuse to look even though Serbia asks for a challenge. Serbia was the better team and should have won this game, but the events in the fourth quarter where Team USA beat Serbia +19 in the last quarter. The referees who refereed the match should be banned from refereeing anywhere in the world - you give the team couch on +15 technical foul, this is not recorded in the history of basketball. The forcing of the USA and France along with the disgusting opening of the Olympiad did nothing else to improve the poor overall picture.

My heart is broken again...this was once in a lifetime opportunity...legacy changing stuff for Jokic and sure ref didn't have their best game, but my dudes, Jokic went 7-17, 0-6 from 3, let's call spade a spade. With how the game went, above average shooting performance from Jok, would have sealed it. The reffing was extremely fishy and I'm glad I'm not the only one saying it. They called numerous fouls on Serbia where they didn't even come close to touching the player. And on the other end Serbia wasn't getting anything. It was blatantly corrupt officiating.
Even though SRB lost, it was a great game! It reminded me of the 2012 OT finales (US - ESP)

Alexa Avramovic, number 13, should play the 4th quarter instead of Vasilije Micic. Alexa is a much better playmaker, capable of breaking defense lines and getting inside. Vasilije is famous in Europe and has been MVP of the Euroleague Alexa had ups and downs for the last 5 years and he is playing in Russia and nobody is following the Russian league. I think a big factor was Serbia's best player got 2 minutes rest and USA's 2 best (Lebron and Steph) got 8. Jok didn't look dead like game 7 against the Wolves, but his touch was off towards the end. It was a great showing nonetheless.
And yes, it's only 38 minutes, but 38 in FIBA is not the same as the NBA. There's way more break time.
Take away Jokic and Bogdanovic, and Serbia has no shot in even making the game close. Take Lebron and Steph out, and they still have other top NBA players they can rely on.

Jokic's 4th faul - it was a faul but before the 3pt shot so the shot was not ment to stand ->instead USA gets the 3pt and a new possession (and score a new 3) WHICH WOULD NEVER BE CALLED BY A GOOD REF... The refs had to foul out Jokic and after his 4th it was easy game for USA onwards.. Numerous traveling were not called by the refs (the one in 4/4 where LeBrick takes it half court and Bogdanovic called for a foul). Lebrick b*tching all the time to the refs... Embid flopping like he was struck by a truck...
I'm not saying that the Serbia/Pesic didn't not make mistakes by keeping Micic (worst starting PG in Serbia's team in last 20 years) & Dobric and not playing Avramovic and Guduric to give us more energy....
But USA did get some help from the refs and were pushed same as the France to the finals since nobody would watch it otherwise... Do not pretend that the refs were really bad in 4th quarter and that their dubious decions did not push USA's scoring run...
