Finally.. Fixing bugs, optimize and get the game stabilized is what I've been waiting for. Great news indeed. Sure new content is nice but if the foundation is unstable, then all of it will crumble and fall.
Problem is that FC could fix the bugs then turn off the official servers. I could see them doing that to focus on the Dune game.
@@Boonedale I think there would be less Conan servers when the Dune servers start. To condense the servers, which is logical and with Conan's decline.. Might be more focus on private servers or rental servers for Conan.
At least they want to leave Conan in a more whole state before more fully focusing on Dune. Future content for Conan may arrive late 2025 once Dune has gotten some traction.
My theory, but time will tell.
@@Berserkaren Maybe. Just have to wait and see what FC decides to do.
I wait for Bug fixes since the beta. Will not happen!
@@_Althena haha! fair.. but if they take the time now to actually focus on bug fixes, that will help a lot. Not all fixes are gonna be fixed, but a majority.
I stopped playing over a year ago after we lost our best mate, was hard to think of playing again for a long time. But i may give it a go again soon as they have added a lot since, plus giving it an overhaul is much needed
Sorry to hear that!
Condolences sorry for your loss!
I used to love this game, but the bugs and poor performance on PS5 have really pushed me away. Pushed me towards other games. It could really use a graphical and performance overhaul
Yeah I really feel for console users of the game, from all of what I've heard it's been super rough. Especially the past couple of years
@KiahOnFireOfficial I've had everything from textures not loading until I restart the game, to NPCs just straight up vanishing right in front of me. Dungeon doors that crash the game so I'm trapped inside, and bosses that are completely invisible
I love Exiles but it’s frustrating to read that they don’t understand their own code so repairing it is extremely time consuming. This is the EXACT same problem they had with Age of Conan. I love both Conan games but Funcom needs to do better.
Honestly, you won my subscription and like with this video. You have an 'adult' approach to the situation and I love it! Coin always has two sides, as devs mentioned, Conan did provide a lot of income for Funcom, I believe they will not abandon it that easy. But, after the recent negative representation by most yourubers, who mostly wanted bug fixes and now when it's happening they are not pleased, Funcom will just have a harder job to do so.
Honestly i wish they would have expanded on the survival part, because the game feels like anything but a survival game.
I remember when they introduced the heat system, only for it being just another icon next to you health bar that you can pretty much ignore.
I feel like they spent so much time on stuff that didnt really matter, like the whole living thrall stuff...instead they could have just focused on making the combat better and perhaps adding more dungeons, maps etc.
Classic Funcom.
good setting, good features, good modders community - good game! i had a lot of fun with it.
but after all these years its time for CE2
The Devs finally admit the game cannot be expanded anymore as it was never designed for such heavy demands in the first place. We need Conan Exiles 2.0 based on a new game engine. Still, I am glad they will address the many glitches/bugs in this game. Long overdue.
Didn't they say they used the engine in Dune or something?
Im sure Funcom will use a new Engine for Conan Exiles 2.0. I think we shall have to wait 1-2 years before completion, though due to costs.
They never fixed age-old bugs, didn't add more maps. They invested effort and money on stuff that nobody wanted :(
I also think magic was very disappointing, and too gory. Why just dark/evil magic? If you don't sacrifice people, no teleporter for you. Also, why was the map room so big, can't fit in smaller base, it becomes the base... There are so many weird decisions...
after how they treated the customers who bought conan exiles if they think any of us are going to play their Dune MMO they must be smoking crack
@@Behrnahrd yeah magic was done really poorly, the idea was cool but the way its used was just bad.
The magic fits with REH lore. It’s meant to be dark and scary. It was way too costly for what it did, which was mostly just some quality perks.
the one map they added failed, its not worth the risk. i think it would be better to just keep making the exiled lands bigger
My server is booming like 40 new players on xbox though same server I've used for 6 years.
How can I join?
Havent played since when the bug deleted thralls. I had cool, rare thralls, with lucky rolls. All gone.
I'll believe it when I see it. I haven't been able to even load in my single player since the last update...
I had to copy my save onto my computer and start a new fresh world to be able to play on my singleplayer as well :(
Altering game code like this is like swapping pieces in a house of cards. If you make a mistake in more recent code towards the top of the house, you can still repair and rebuild. The old, foundation code at the very bottom of the house is holding up everything that came after and a single mistake can send the whole thing crashing down. I for one will be waiting patiently. I like Conan Exiles and while I may have long breaks between playthroughs I'd hate to see it die. A successor game intended for long term stability, updated engine and features would be fantastic but I'll happily settle for an old favourite getting some much needed TLC
More maps and engine upgrades are needed if they want this glorious game to go anywhere. The buisness decision to not make more maps (taking away new enviornments for people to explore) because they flopped siptah with a rushed and bug filled release is the most braindead decision ever.
There is a reason why I never got Conan Exiles. I got burned badly by FC in the paste.. Anarchy Online (stuck in limbo) Age of Conan (shuffled into Maintenance Mode because it was so buggy FC wiped they hands on it) Secret World (tried to be to much and failed on all of it and now also in Maintenace mode)
Anarchy Online in the 2000-5 period was amazing. I played it, met great peoples I still remember today.
@@Kaynos Yeah but they side lined it big time in favor of AOC which then proceeded to crash and burn (was to technical for it's time and a ton of promised features it toke them nearly 2 years to implement AFTER launch) And they still run both AOC and AO in maintenance mode trying to milk what little remains of they playbase.
Honestly, Conan Exiles is a great game, especially if you don't care about PvP and play Coop with friends
@@DontKnow-hr5my I never said it wasn't I explained why I never picked it up :) I know a lot of people whom say Conan Exiles are a great and it do look hecking fun.
Most companies by now would have been working on exiles 2 by now and stopped working on it. Funcom have done a great job keeping it going for this long but I agree it’s time for them to slow down and sort out the multitude of issues, and hopefully 🤞 we can get some more years out of this game.
I think they should have a look at some of the mods out there
Fixing the bugs is a God send. Ive been playing with my wife since the start of age of war and while we like new content we also like our thrall not to run into walls/getting killed with no resistance and have horrible pathing compared to the perfection of pathing "most" enemies have unless obviously bugged by a player/spawn issue etc etc etc. I know for a fact players that play alone usually want more content faster but I just got 2 other buds to play so we are enjoying the hell out of the game like it's brand new again so in my mind people are either spoiled like "always" or they are simply greedy or they are like us who know how to enjoy the content without needing new bits because we stay productive new buildings new locations always doing something we enjoy our loop and I totally understand if players that have played since release feel "ugh" but that's easily taken care of by taking a break.
You're the best Kiahonfire, thank you for always helping with all your tips and keeping us all updated. I love Conan, just wish the game was more stable.
fingers crossed they get it more stable this year!!
I'll continue to watch with interest this game. My Nomadic tendencies has gone on to modded maps, many of which you Kiah introduced me to. Thankfully mods give this game evergreen status. Final Bug fixes would make it legendary!
I'm just hoping to see the Bazaar to show all, or at least more items. Sick of waiting the items that I'd like to buy to show...
History Lesson: Funcom let their greed destroy what I’d classify as their breakout success WAY back in the early days of MMOs.
They had a subscription based sci-fi game named Anarchy Online and they decided they were going to start running real world ads on the billboards/vidboards of the game.
They did get some pushback and eventually decided they would create a free-to-play tier of the game that included the ads, but customers paying the monthly fee had the option to turn off the ads.
Again, these were the early days of MMOs. And the game already had plenty of bugs and connectivity/stability issues.
Imagine how having these vid-board ads and an influx of free-to-play accounts wrecked the performance of a game that I’d argue already lacked stability.
IMO Funcom has always been willing to push out shoddy work. It’s why they were one of the early pioneers of MMOs but still aren’t a “household name” amongst gamers.
My favorite part was shortly after the expansion for Age of Conan came out they swapped to a F2P model and make the all the expansions endgame content paywalled through real money. I had preordered the expansion but was working out of town with no internet only to when I finally got to play being unable to do any endgame content without spending money on tokens just to run a dungeon, of all the early F2P models they had the greediest!
@@KrocxigorYeah, that sounds like a very Funcom thing to do. 😂
Thanks for the nice update Kiah. I have not played for awhile but do want to go back to it. Hopefully they will update with some fixes and toss in a new map. I would enjoy some cities with a little more life and adventure by Crom.
This is the best news to come out of Conan sense the release of the game. Never should have been any DLC's until the framework was solid
I used to play with a couple of friends, my oldest son and my late wife, we had a great time. But between bugs and constant changes it's been a couple of years since I've played, everyone that I used to play with have either passed away or moved on to other games. Many of the changes that they put in place reduced the charm and fun of the game for me. I do hope that they can get things ship shape but I fear that it may be too little too late. I may give it another solo play just for nostalgia's sake but I'm afraid that it just won't be the same.
Might be for the best, honestly. The jank has really got out of hand.
That said, I'm still going to be playing it, off and on.
Maybe I'll finally finish Siptah this year. xD
get rid of living settlements or fix them first... i lost 4 named bench thralls in less than 2 hours and 1 of them a sheildwright. not happy. just vanished and showed in event log as dead. i dont mind most bugs like foundation sinking as theres ways to get around it, but certain named bench thrall can take hours, weeks months to replace. i dont mind grinding out Conan but that takes the peace.
When I first heard this news, I said that if Funcom does this & follows through with it, it’ll be nothing but a net positive. Making the game more stable & squashing bugs will make the game better to play.
If after Funcom is done with their maintenance of Conan Exiles & want be tempt back lapsed players and draw new players in, I’d like to see them introduce a new map and/or expand the current maps, showing some love especially to Siptah. In addition, I’d like them to increase the connectivity of the maps.
My buddies kept trying to play this game together - we would make a good mid-tier base and then drop it because the bugs became unplayable
The first part saying no new content instead working on the foundations actually made me super happy, if I had a choice I would choose foundations over new content, that is actually really great news.
After the fix, in an ideal world mind you, another map would be top of my wishlist.
I always thought after I started playing how kind of odd it was that new content kept coming out, as it was a buy to play game not subscription, so I am not greedy but ofc would like more content, who wouldn't x)
I pray they won't abandon it, ever since I was younger this game was awesome to me, and after hundreds of hours it has a nice spot in my heart.
I was very happy to hear Funcom's announcement. I hope it's honest. Stop new content, fix the game (for real). Then get back to adding new content (for free or for money) and selling cosmetic items. But they have to open the Bazaar, reduce prices and get rid of Crom Coins. If something cost $12, let us spend $12 to get it. The Bazaar that Funcom has created is shameful.
Private servers aren't really dead but official is getting close. I enjoy my private server honestly and will be making it public soon. So maybe the private servers can save the game in a way. Who knows.
Private servers are my favourite choice as well :)
Especially customized ones, lots to do on those as folks often set up their own quests, mods ect
@KiahOnFireOfficial I agree, I'm unfortunately hosting one on xbox so we don't get access to the all the cool mods but I've built a coliseum and will be hosting arena games on my server with rewards being Gold to buy certain things in my marketplace etc being admin makes it like creating you're own world so I have a little fun on mine with things like that etc.
I really was pumped for the game, I soloed on a pvp server.. kept getting ganged on buy the big players. ( thought it a bit strange that they teamed up to wipe me ) but I kept comming back as a challendge.. was not a good base builder, but ended up being good at pvp fights.. I guess I stopped playing due to frustration to lag ( it destroys the pvp for me ) but all the times running/sneaking through the world. To obtain resources to build better weapons/armour, was fun times...
I'd like to see this game get the love it needs, I would come back.
This is fantastic news !!!
Focus on fixing bugs and optimising the game style and play and forget about releasing patches or anything like that. This is something I have questioned for several years, why release a patch or an expansion when there are so many bugs and all the patches were doing was introducing more bugs making the game unplayable.
This is something I have wanted for so many years as this game has such huge potential the issue is all the bugs. I hope Funcom does this and lives up to their word. 2025 focus on fixing bugs , known issues , and fixing the optimisation of gameplay.
Yeah this maintenance is absolutely needed, if they fix all the bugs and QOL items, basically merge many of the workshop features into the game so they work seamlessly. Conan has been dead for me (1000+ hours ) but now it seems it may be revived, I am excited, very excited.
After fixing their longstanding bugs, I'd love for FC to expand the Northeast of the Exiled Lands map or provide a way for players to transit between Exiled Lands and Siptah.
Either way, it'll be nice to see not only a lot of problems fixed, but also a lot less complaints lol.
At this point they might be better off just making a sequel, port over the DLCs, and use Unreal 5.
That's weird that now they say it was never meant to be a live service game...I remember since I bought Conan Exiles at the colsone launch they were talking about how hey had plans to add magic and expand on the map. I think they're just lying now to try and excuse how terrible of a job they've done and to justify ridiculous bazaar prices.
I do feel there is a difference in adding content to a released and current game vs a 'Game as a Service'. How well both shake out does depend on the competence and true intentions of the company.
I believe Funcom when they say they switch from DLC and adding content to Game as a Service... it's just that it didn't turn out well. The game was doing much better when it just had DLC.
Even if they don't do any more content updates I don't see it as a particularly bad thing. As long as they leave the game in a relatively bug-free, working state, modders can pick up the slack without having to worry about future patches breaking all their stuff.
Your video is the fifth one I've watched that says "Conan Exiles is dead" or asks, "Is Conan Exiles dead?" It's only dead if we let it die-if we don't stand up for it, if we don't play it, or if we don't make our voices heard. The company wants to remake the game and make us buy it all over again.
like ark lol
@drunkrudetat2d I play ark and enjoy it
@@dragonslyer74Wildcard made a lot of greedy choices when they moved from Evolved to Ascended. From what I've heard more people currently play Evolved than Ascended. I wouldn't call that a huge success.
Having a period of fixing bugs and improving performance rather than adding new stuff is positive... IF we believe this is what will happen, and this is not just a PR spin on "yeah, it's in maintenance mode for managed decline now".
If.
As someone who did lose their entire base because of building on Nemedian foundations, I will say that nearly ruined the game for me. The ages were fun and I liked the new content that was introduced, but the battle pass and bizarre were too much. The game didn’t launch with those systems and it felt like a massive cash grab for Dune Awakening. I’m glad they’re focusing on bug fixes and stability, but it’s also time to let Conan Exiles rest and move on to other games.
Went downhill faster and faster after Dennis arrived.... Sadly, it was a great game... RIP Conan
Yeah, the whole new community team kinda sux honestly. This you watch that lame anniversary live stream? Dennis definitely seems like a "yes" man and doesn't fight for real change in the game!!
@ .. his change of the game from his day one was what destroyed Conan.
I think a lot of Conan Lifers have been actually wanting them to focus on fixing their AI issues rather than pouring in more content that would most likely bring in more issues. Fix what is here first. Not focusing on these issues is why I have seen a lot of folks leave, because they got weary of the bugs and just got sick of it. But I really do hope they do not let it die. I've played almost 5000 hours myself on PS4 and I left PS4 Conan because the locking up finally got to me and I just couldn't take it anymore. And my whole PS4 was dedicated to running CONAN because I thought the locking up was my old PS4 and then had friends get the PS5 and it locked up on them too. So, I tried the game on computer thru Steam which allows for MODS. So, I just got to play SAVAGE WILDS map for the first time and I have never had more fun playing CONAN because I am getting to explore again and that map has some really cool stuff. Especially when you enhance the gameplay to your personal likeness with other SAVAGE WILDS compatible MODS. Please CONAN, turn your poor AI reputation on a 180 degree turnabout and make it one of the best AI's, fix the bugs, stop the lag switchers, and people will play this game again. The Medieval Builds and gameplay make it like playing a much more detailed Age of Empires on the ground, one of the best computer games ever. I prefer this theme rather than your post-apocalyptic survival games. Those do not interest me at all. The Medieval mixed with a little fantasy is great. (too much fantasy is stupid too). I like the grinding it out on the ground with some sort of boss creatures and dungeon Kingdoms to conquer.
i stopped playing Conan Exiles when they started with the season pass.
Don't care about dune I'm be right here in Conan
very good news....Even if I wait new comanion quest and stories and living cities features too.
There have been bugs and game breaking issues since launch, and every update has introduced as many bugs as they fixed (some haven't been touched since launch).
This has been something that Conan Exiles has needed for a long time. Once bigs have been squashed and the game is in a much more stable place, it'll be better for future content updates.
This is how you declare the end of the development without declaring the end of the development.
Without new content the game will wither and die, and when there is no players, there is no reason to develope the game any further.
I love conan exiles almost as much as I love you kiah, seriously dreamed of us watching Harry Potter and playing Conan with our cubs...lol but truly hate to see it go would love to see real engine 5 overhaul it would be nice to see it like dragons dogma 2 trolls cyclops in all
I have two games. One on the original map and one on Siptah. Neither will load. In the off chance it loads, it immediately crashes.
Communication is key ❤️
They also need to take this time and provide better content and maybe a map update with new dungeons. Hell a whole new map would be great as well. Conan needs a huge overhaul and everyday its losing more and more people. I love this game and wish they would listen to their communities. Maybe you should do a live Q and A about conan and then submit that to FUNCOM? Might be a good idea.
If FC fix the fundamental bugs such as player getting stuck into mesh of other big objects or creatures and thralls going under the map; this might be good year... I really hope they don't switch to UE5 engine and instead use a more efficient API like Vulkan for the current UE4 engine 🤓❤
I really hope they do fix it, it's one of my favorites but with how buggy the last chapters gave I stopped playing :(
If Dune becomes the next big thing I think this will be minimal bug fixing if any on Conan. 😢 I was hoping for new map ones but that is future magic I am afraid.
I hope they fix the bugs and nothing else. I don't need continued updates. I like completed games, and even play them multiple times.
Use to love this game, brought in close to a dozen friends but stopped because of all the issues/game breaking bugs. If they FINALLY fix the basics of this game I would come running back with friends
One of my biggest "bugs" that I want fixed is the server crash during high level purges. GRRR
The worst part is that Funcom now owns the Conan IP. If they decide to kill Conan Exiles, then that's it. No one else will be able to make a Conan game.
While technically true, Conan IP has been in public domain since 2006. So it's not like they could actually legally stop anyone from using Conan the Barbarian for their work, including games.
I doubt you could even trademark the name, since Conan is a normal name.
If the development team would focus more on fixing the glitches in the bugs rather than trying to get us to buy new cosmetics, then yes, the game would be better…. and I hate to even suggest this for maybe a complete wipe of maps and characters is needed
Well I tried Conan yesterday on ps5, my Thrall was running on the spot, some enemies are invisible now and the frame rate was plop near my base, it's not even a massive build.
Before any dlc, fix that first, because it's basic.
This is conan -
Hi sir, we've fixed your car, new paint job, new rims, splendid rose tinted windows and that pinewood smell, yum.
Me - awesome thanks.
30ft down the road, the gear stick falls off in my hand, brakes stop working and dead hedgehog rolls from under the seat.
Now I'm in river screaming motherffffffffff krom coin bast#√$s.
I really enjoyed Conan Exiles, it was fun to play and i really enjoyed it with friends... but.. the moment they added the battlepass i left and never looked back until now. I wont buy a funcom game ever again. They ruined one of my favorite games to play and i wont forgive them :(
This the opposite of maintenence mode abandonment - this is potentially Conan Exiles 2 redesigned to last indefently.
I got a VERY strong feeling I will be bouncing back and forth between Conan & Dune Awakening. Not to mention the modding community of Conan is amazing. One of the few games I keep coming back to over and over again. Also, Conan Exiles is what got me following your channel
maybe after dune we get a conan exiles upgrade in unreal engine 5
Conan Exiles Acendend 🤣
With just 2 maps this might actually work.
🤣🤣🤣🤣That aint gonna happen!!🤣🤣🤣
I can't help but think this shift is partly due to dune on the horizon and funcom not wanting their last game to be too full of wonk which will inevitably be brought up in videos covering their new title.
it definitely needs some maintenance, but could easily get back into the spotlight by releasing a new map after these bugfixes and QoL stuff.
I don't think this is the death. Hear me out. Especially if you read the statement made by funcom themselves. That they are currently stopping all production of additional content. To dial back and redouble efforts to actively make much needed QOL improvements to the game. As someone who has long stood by this has needed to happen. I see this as an absolute win for the game. The community may suffer through this time. But for a lot of us. That's also a tale as old as the game itself. The dark times. I was there. And find myself at the same precipice again. If you're worth your weight in salt you'll endure. If not. More ashes and dust.
Hi all..ive just got back into conan and ive not played since beginning of age of sorcery.. im level 33 is there a good way to level up and what is the best armor build to date and attributes to have to survive and damage the npc
Translation: "We are moving all our content creators to Dune"
Im glad there holding back and fixing issues before adding more
I’ma say it, make a new Conan with an updated engine. It makes THE most sense.
Honestly, I’d expect more of the same unless another company has the reigns.
Yeah Conan's not dead. The bugs have been murdering my favorite game slowly they desperately need to fix it before anything else
I hunted a few guys on official American PvP servers on ps5 and noticed at least 20+ of the servers didn’t have anyone on them. Out of 94
They need to fix Main servers and make it easier to run at machines.
It's totally the plan, it 100% sounds like bug fix before maint mode and forgotten.
The real question here is whether Dune Awakening is also not meant to be a live service game hehe.
thank god, i actually uninstalled because of the bugs recently, i honestly think if it wasnt for that conan exiles is probly the best game in the genre
I do you like Conan Exile but I think they should add more maps and add more things if they're going to make Conan exile the second they need to add a whole lot more content more Building Material more maps definitely more maps or take the same Exile land and make it four times bigger
Hopefully conan can recover. This fix is well overdue
They should at least give some modders access to their assets, or at least partial access to them so they can keep the game alive like they've always done.
Age of Heroes is a bad update to temporarily cease game updates for a long period of time and it will affect it tremendously.
Their only safe move to prolong Conan's life would be to start with removing cheats.
Wow I might actually get to play the game again.
Honestly I think what would be best is fixing the main issues with optimization and bug fixes then never touching it again.
At this point the most annoying thing for me is their constant meddling breaking mods.
I loved this game but stoped playing when i got a ps5 and it still laged out real bad
some pvp servers are popping:) great fun
Haven't touched it in a year but did love it until the big wars ended lol
I just started playing 2 months ago when the game was on sale and have really been enjoying it, except for the other day when my second base and all of the loot I had was deleted. WTH? Also, there are some BASIC items for MMOs they HAVE TO FIX:
--When you have a thrall following you and you teleport or leave/go into a dungeon, about 50% of the time they don't appear with you when you finish loading. EVERY TIME I have finished the silver mine and exit the dungeon, I have to log off the game and log back on, and THEN I will see my thrall sitting outside of the dungeon.
--What were you thinking with food and gear you make in this game. The base game gives NO USEFUL DETAILS for food, except it's something to eat. It doesn't give a % that the food will heal or +HP. NOTHING. When you look at the different wraps, it just says "Bandages used for binding wounds". Even if this was a quick game put together, what is wrong with you all?
--Weapons and armor made only shows "Health damage" no weight or anything else.
--Perks you add to weapons give no +points to what they effect, and also, no -effects that they do on the side, like +to effect, but -to Durability.
COME ON PEOPLE. This is BASIC STUFF and you say you are going to release this DUNE game? Oh hell I hope it's better put together then Conan for BASIC DETAILS!!!!
I have literally zero faith in funcom and although this used to be my favourite game i'd have to be delusional to think they'd actually be substantially fixing anything.
If they fix the game and they won't abandom good old PS4 Imma buy 7800 Crom Coins pack which is literally paying like for a brand new game.
The problem is the lag switchers that killed the game
I thin they just klean it up and prepare to do a Conan exile 2 when Dune is up and runing!
I would buy it again if it got imported to UE5 and that would fix a lot of the bugs I believe.
Hopefully by stabilize they mean remove hacks
PS5 native version would be a nice start
Random stuff aroind my base jusr disappears all the time a wall here a chest there some decorations there
Official servers died a long time ago.
Private servers will live on for years to come.
The game was never meant to be undated forever.
7 years of extra content, with a big bug fix patch to end it, is more than what we were promised at launch.
And just think folks who are whining Funcom isnt going to update Conan forever, you can now stop whining everytime they update about your mods breaking
I have a steam deck and I wish it was controller supported I do not have a mouse keyboard
Pretty much. Never added new maps or dungeons. It’s their own fault. That’s why I will not purchase Dune awakening they don’t take care of their player base
If this game is truly on life support / dying does anyone have good recommendations for alternatives? I really like the building and parkour mechanics. Mostly on console
There have been few games of similar genre popping up.
Enshrouded is probably the furthest along, tho a good bit more stylised.
Soulmask is very similar to Conan
Nightingale is early in development if you fancy more Victorian aestetics
