I'm rewatching this years later and this remains one of my all time favorite technique videos. The color explosion with the glaze is like nothing else. The depth reminds me of photos from the Hubble telescope!

I tried this technique on glossy photo paper, and just as Tim said, it was not successful... until I buffed it with a baby wipe! On the glossy non-photo paper, the micro glaze is the magic. On photo paper, a damp towel is the magic! Or maybe it's just TH. He's magic. Thanks for sharing your tips!
When Tim applied the Distress Glaze, my jaw literally dropped, and I didn't shut my mouth until he was done! I love that look and can't wait to try it.

I have used distress on cheap photo paper with great results. After the layers dry I buffed the paper with a soft cloth.

I was just thinking about adding microglaze to brighten up the colors of oxides. Now I know the trick is glossy paper!
Messed up and did this on typo card stock. Beautiful pastel!!!! Will effort to find the glossy card stock mean while the typo is still a pretty close second. Thanks for all your ideas. I’ve been watching you since Carol!!

I tried wiping it off with a wet wipe and it worked. Wiped the oxide off with a paper towel and it worked too. Didn't need the glaze, but the glaze does make it waterproof I guess.

If using normal journal paper would a precoat with Gesso help it from soaking in?
Most Distress Inks rub off of Gesso. Try using the ink straight onto the paper.
Can you stamp an image over the ranger alchol glossy paper after you use the distress oxides and microglaze?

When he put the ink on the craft mat, it seemed really juicy, mine, that are brand new, just out of the plastic, do not do that. They seem dry. Could that be possible?
If you think they are too dry then contact Ranger directly.
Do these dabblers screw onto the bottles, and can I purchase them at Michaels?
I'm not sure what Michaels carries. You will have to check it out, or order them online.
I have a question regarding distress paints. Just bought a pack of 3 and they don’t have daybeds. Only like a squeeze top with a hole in it. Why?
Ranger switched tops over a year ago. However, you can purchase dabbers to add to the bottles.
You can use photo paper and wipe off the oxidation with a baby wipe! Same effect!
I’ve been to many Mchael’s and find that they are completely out of distress oxide inks and reinkers. When will you re-stock? Thanks
I don't work for Ranger of Michaels, but it is my understanding that Michaels would have to place an order. I would talk to your local store and ask them to re-order.
Hi there from South of Sweden!! I have a question: if I use Oxide on Al. Inc Cardstock and dry it, the surface will be matte. If I want it a bit glossy, how do I get that surface? Is there any laque to use or do I have to just accept that the surface will be matte?

I use glossy gesso over oxide inks on regular card stock. The oxides will smear if not totally dry which can be nice. I haven't used alcohol paper yet but you might test a piece and see what happens!

I have tons of photo paper. I’m going to experiment and see what I can get with that.
Tim is using Ranger cardstock. I used Stampin' Up glossy cardstock because I had it on hand in my stash and it produced with similar results. I think SU's paper is also clay-based.

Plain old baby wipe works just great, dont need micro glaze

Does the micro glaze have an odour - I am imagining that it smells like car wax and I would not like that. Thank you.
From what other people have said, this product doesn't have an odour. The sealant I bought definitely does smell. I believe you can differentiate the types by whether or not they are flammable. Micro glaze isn't flammable, the stuff I bought is til "dry".
