I think one of the main issues is that it didn’t really feel like a chapter. Also I didn’t like how collab skins not related to the actual skin were in the item shop during that season
I actually really do feel like they put in a lot more effort this chapter. Let me remind everyone; we did not have events during chapter 4, barely any lore to hold onto (like none), no LTMs, and the weekly updates were a lot smaller. Chapter 4 is actually my favourite, but to me it feels like chapter 5 is Epic ramping up development for BR again. I don't love the map, I'm very impartial to it, but I think especially season 4 (which was jam-packed with content updates) gives a very hopeful glimpse of what chapter 6 might be.
It’s crazy how you say that it should’ve been a marvel zombies collab for Fortnitemares because I had said it would’ve been cool if we got a zombie iron man head for a backling
In my opinion it was one of the worst fortnite chapters ever. I’m not talking about the seasons, I’m talking about the story and the chapter itself. It had so much build up just to end it all with a pre recorded concert that took us back to chapter 2. Like what was the point of having us defeat doom and do all this other stuff just to end the whole chapter with a concert.
Alot of the problem is that they either dropped ideas too soon, or just didn't bother to balance stuff and instead just removes it next season, like car mods and nitro, or how weapon mods are only done at vaults and will probably be removed, especially since they barely change the guns, which frankly they could have added way cooler effects to, like one that makes your weapon charge in exchange for fire damage after effect and higher burst damage. And when that's not the case, it's because they don't drop shit at the start of the season that they really could have, like most guns, and if none of those are the case, they made something op for no reasoning and then nerf it into the ground, missing the problem is more than the nerfs are covering, and thus changing nothing, like the cars and being immortal, because no singular player can deal enough damage, even upon ambushing them at point blank, to kill the car before it runs or kills you, and then it full heals in complete safety, wrecked season especially made that apparent. Like the gas station should not have infinite heals, and the cars need less hp, and blowtorches should be limited as well, meaning no immortal cars, and late game, you're getting out to heal it. Simple solution, yet even without heals they're op in remix, because epic can't think about changing it. And we still have no answers as to what happened to doom, the plotline just ended after chapters of foreshadowing and story building up to it. Hell, while we're at it, WHERE THE FUCK DID MEGALODON GO? I UNDERSTAND IF DOOM WAS SOME SORT OF LAST SECOND MARKETING ISSUES LEADING TO THEM JUST DROPPING HIM INTO THE VOID UNCEREMONIOUSLY, BUT MEGALODON IS AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER, WHERE DID HE AND HIS CREW GO?
And yeah, some things were instead introduced when they shouldn't have been, but mainly, epics inability to stay a course, and improve upon it is the problem. If we stuck with any of the ideas for a full chapter, we'd have gotten it to work. Be it midas and the gods, and their powers not being as simple as just defeat zues, and instead going into another host, be it megalodon and nitro, or doom's storyline actually being finished in the fortnitemares event by mephisto, or remix and actually being a remix with it's mechanics being chapter 5's and not just chapter 2 but music artists, primarily rap, something needed to stick longer than they have. Next chapter, stick to the japanese athstetic, regardless of the era or mythological vs real, stay a course.
In my honest opinion I wouldn't say it failed I just think it was so controversial that it split the community in a lot of ways for one and two it felt like a major departure than what we have the last four chapters. Experimenting isn't always failing but it isn't always a success either
Chapter 5 as a whole was sheer headache and enjoyable experience. Season 1 is alright. Even though I didn't like theme very much. However, the gameplay and Lootpool was very interesting. Reaper Sniper is my beloved and tmnt collab is peak. Season 2 had a strong start, but mid way through the season, it is a wasted Potential. The Avatar collab took the season's theme away, and killed it's momentum. Water bending mythics killed the whole Gunplay. Season 3 is one of the most controversial seasons ever. Even though the Gunplay kinda sucked, but I somewhat enjoyed season wrecked, and content of it. Cars, nitro fists, and nitro splashes are my beloved. Except Magento gloves....those things are the pain of my existence... Season 4....I did not enjoy this season at all until Fortnitemares came. Fortnitemares literally save me from this marvel season. I don't care what anyone says, but ch5s4 is one of the worst experience seasons that I've ever had since ch4s3 Wilds. Chapter 5 overall has some good things but there's more bad than good.
I think Ch5 underwhelmingness stems from two things, jarring shifts of theme between seasons and a lack of pay off in the story. What I mean by that is that in Chapters 1, 2, and 3 the seasons would introduce a concept and the season after would be the pay off. Ch1S3 had the meteor event which introduced the visitor, then Ch1S4 gave us the rocket event. Ch1S5 introduced us to Rifts and Kevin with Ch1S6 gave us the Butterfly event. Ch1S7&8 focused on the feud between the Ice and fire king while also introducing us to the zero point and Singularity. The vult event would also lead us into Seasons 9 and X. Ch2 started the mix up this format by introducing a concept (S1 Alter & Ego, S4 the return of the zero point, S7 The Last Reality), the pay of to the concept (S2 The Agency, Midas, and the Device event, S5 The introduction to the Multiverse and the Imagined Order, S8 The Cube Queen and expanded lore of the Cube), and then there would be a season that focused on the aftermath (S3 the flooded Island and S6 the spire). The formula was consistent through the first 3 seasons of Ch3 but the problems started to arise in season 4. The Seasons in Ch4 & 5 feel disconnected in some areas. Ch4 had potential with people assuming the seasons would parallel Ch1, but the yearly chapter mandate and lack of a consistent overarching narrative kinda of ruined that potential. Ch5 does some of these things better with it having an connected story again, but there trying to introduce a concept and resolve it all in one season which can lead to some disconnect and underwhelming story. Sorry this comments so long, but in short Epic should reconsider doing yearly Chapters if they want to have a consistent story like other Chapters.
Imo chapter 5 was really fun! But it’s mid compared to the other chapters as I think it’s in the middle. Chapter 1 and 4 are better than chapter 5 but chapters 2 and 3 are worse. Overall I really liked chapter 5 and I’m excited to see where this game goes in the future

Maybe you're used to the original gun play, chapter 5 season 3 for me, is one of the most unique seasons ever, having cars as a meta is so cool, one of the few games that actually does that kind of thing, I don't think it deserves that hate, but they should've split the lootpool from the beginning, it wouldn't get all that hate
@TVMan_Fan-1 Agreed well… I some what agree I do think they should’ve split the loot pool up so people could play what they preferred they kind of did that with Reload but not normal BR. I did use both the normal weapons and the cars but I used the cars at first to see what they played like and I had a friend along as well anyway, we got one of the bosses cars and completely dominated the match I actually felt bad for the people that were trying to play traditionally by building I remember my friend spraying this one guy down and he was building for his life he ended up being eliminated because he couldn’t do anything against the cars. After that we won the match with 20 Elims and me and my friend collectively said that they were worse then the mechs and they don’t take skill. BTW thanks for being respectful most of the people I’ve interacted with In the community attack other for their opinions so thank you for being respectful. 😊
I would say it's a good chapter because season 2 was really good for me and fun season 3 was good because of the battle pass and the desert biome, season 4 of fortnitemares and after 4 years of marvel season I have nothing to say about season 1 except that I liked it Tier 100 skin on battle pass but the season is boring
The reason why it failed was bc a sh!t map, weapons with bullet drop (it sucked), horrible events, storyline sh!t, graphics sucked compared to chapter 4, the new movement sucks (to realistic), and they added the meta-verse which is bullsh!t, so overall it was horrible because they tried to make the game to realistic.
