Love the rambling. It works for me.
Thanks for sayin....
Hey, Hal, thanks for doing this, I found it really interesting.
Thanks, Hal. I acquired the Peterson Stroboclip and can hear a difference in how the overtones and sympathetic vibrations sound, all in harmony. Glad I saw this video, I like Ramblin’ Hal !
Great video Hal!!! I'll be getting this Peterson Strobe tuner & start using my fine tuners....I've never used the fine tuners on the Tahoma I bought last year...that's gonnna change! Wow what a difference in the sound with the Peterson Strobe!! It's clearer, it's crisper, it's more melodic! Guess what I'm buying myself for my birthday next month???....Thanks so much Hal!! ♥.....PS: Can you post a link to this tuner? :)
There is most certainly a significant audible difference between the two tuning approaches. One of my ongoing rants about tuning is that one can NOT achieve a proper sounding tuning using just an electronic tuner string by string. Since there is a significant interplay between strings across the octaves, the property of inharmonicity comes into play. In my own playing experience, a tuning technique which includes adjustment of tunings between octaves after the first electronic tuning is mandatory to obtain the best and sweetest sound from the instrument.
Omg. The difference is unbelievable. With the Snark, the tenor brightness is most prominent to me. With the Petersen tuning, it’s like a different instrument, especially in the mid-range and bass notes - but the tenor notes are clearly bright. Out of curiosity, do you use one of the Perersen sweeteners or the general chromatic or something else… or does it depend on what the autoharp is set up for. (When it comes to understanding fine points about tunings, I’m in the dark. And if you wanted to do a video about that I’d be interested and grateful.)
now I know why tuning makes me crazy. I have no fine tuners. Just the wrench.
