This is my goal for this season. I want two 'huge' coleus containers like yours. Yours are great looking. Some of your older videos are quite helpful. I keep learning new tips all the time. I'm not always successful, but it's still fun and I learn from my mistakes. Thanks!!!!!
My goodness he's a handsome lad 😊 Driving home from work, 3 am, it's 0 degrees, (32-40*), I had put the plants in the shed earlier ☺ I don't know the names but thought a solid red one would look good. (from rosy dawn?) Have a good evening ☮
Awesome!! It's all I could hope for!! Make it easy to enjoy these plants..and perhaps give you a different gift giving idea alternative to friends and family!!
Jim, I LOVED this video and also the share with your son and your car! Really special days, right? Nothing like a son! I have a question for you. Have you ever heard of/or used GROW MORE "SUPER BLOOM" as a liquid fertilizer? This is what I use on most of my annuals that flower, as well as my creeping Phlox. It works really great there. I'm wondering if this would work on that Scarlet Kong Coleus that I bought, or if you think I definitely need the Miracle Gro liquid fertilizer. I used the Dr. Earth Organic Pelletized product when I first potted it. Really took off and growing well right now. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I salute you! Many blessings, Betty :)
Thank you soo much Betty . APPRECIATE your watching...I try not to stray off the Coleus path but figured I'd share some of my other interests.... As for GROW MORE SUPERBLOOM... There are sooo many products out there...someone recently told me about Superbloom as it rings a bell. I haven't tried it though. I have used Bloom Booster by Miracle-Gro. I actually am out of it so maybe I'll try the SUPERBLOOM. AMAZON??? 😆 My Favorite!!
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus - Yes, that is exactly where I purchased mine. I used to get it at Pike, but they seemed to be more costly this year (surprise....). If you need me to send you a link for the Super Bloom, just let me know. Thanks again for all of your GREAT videos. They are truly a work of art! Have a blessed day~ Betty :)
I had to put caging around my coleus containers because something was digging them up in the middle of the night. I will remove the cages after they get stronger and fill in. It has worked so far.
I’m looking for advice on how to trim my coleus plants as they continue to grow before I transplant to planters. I have trimmed a few of the large leaves as many of the plants have many small leaves underneath but I don’t want to cut too much or wrong so that the plant starts to become distorted. I’ll send some pics of my plants if I can figure that out. lol Thank you so much!!
Good Question.... I assume your talking Coleus you've grown from seed. If they are growing up top....and your seeing growth developing on the lower stem EXCELLENT!!! Let the plant continue to mature and develop....decisions are all relative to each grower...but decide how big a pot and then decide once it reaches a height you feel comfortable...not too tall..then do what I call maintenance trimming...keeping it at your decided height ....removing old torn damaged leaves...let the underlying growth get light and eventually fill in to a nice symmetrical girth
They're so beautiful!!! I come back every year to ask questions about coleus lol.. They have become my favorite over the last few years. I planted so many this year and have no idea what to do with them. My question is how many per 12in pot to make them big and full, and how many can I put into a 24in pot?
That's Great!!! A 12 in pot is large enough for 4-5. A 24..thats pretty big. Don't always think that the bigger the pot the more Coleus. You can plant 4-5 in a 24 as well. I space them out using the clock pattern...starting at 12.... one on each quarter and 1 in center. There will be room for larger fuller growth in both.
Toothpicks are OK for a little while..but watch them....I don't recommend using wood stakes because wood can absorb the nitrogen in the soil.....but I don't think small toothpicks can do alot of damage.
As always, it's nice to see your progress, Thanks Jim!😉

Thanks Debbie. It's most likely squirrels or chipmunks 🐿
