      I graduated in 91,but in 88-90 a buddy had a 70 sport fury. White.
383 2 barrel but that old girl would get up because he had really short tires on back ,maybe like a 195-50 14 or something because they were free.
Sure it sat low but old cars should for us stupid kids.
(I won't mention another buddy's heated spring lowered 74 delta 88 we hadda get like 10 kids to lift to get a jack under for a flat tire 😂)
It was in nice shape too, we had good times bombing around in that car.
One time he got tired of us bickering and he did a brake check and someone in the back hit their head on the front seat and that shut em up 😂

I HAD A 1971 383 MAGNUM SE CHARGER, FLIP UP HEADLIGHTS AND ALL THE OPTIONS, IT DID NOT HAVE HEADLAMP WASHERS. I REMEMBER A LEVER ON THE IGNITION SWITCH YOU HAD TO PULL DOWN TO INSERT THE KEY? AND THERE WAS A MICRO SMALL FIBER OPTIC TUBE THAT LIGHT THE IGNITION SWITCH AT NIGHT. THERE WAS A 10 POUND WEIGHT BOLTED INTO THE REAR AXEL WELL RIGHT WHERE THE PINION SNUBBER WAS, I REMOVED THIS WEIGHT AND THE TIRES WOULD ALLWAYS LOSE TRACTION AND WHEEL HOP WHEN HARD ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I was almost 19 in the fall of 68 and just starting out as a Chrysler mechanic for a CP dealer. I was sent to the 1969 New Car Highlights Chrysler gave to the field every new model year. I remember them talking about the Superlight and cautioned us mechanics not to touch the bulb with our bare hands else we will destroy it due to the oils on our skin (and probably the engine oils as well.) I think I only saw one Dodge come through the shop with this feature. I also remember the mod tops on the Plymouths. They may look strange today to people, but back then it was the flower power generation so they weren't too far out of the norm.

I actually had one of those 'Super Lite' or 'Super Beam' set ups off of a '69 Monaco. I pulled the complete setup off of a car I found in a Virginia junkyard over 20+ years ago. I never saw one before or since. I got the complete grill section, light, wiring and dash panel and switch. I powered it up. It was probably as bright as a 100w halogen but I believe the bulb was maybe 50-60w. It was the giant glass projector that made it look brighter.

Back in those days they had probably at least 5 interior designs for every model and you could order any exterior color the company offered. Now if you want to change something it has to be part of some package. I happen to have a 32 option '69 GTO and one of those is pretty rare cornering lamps that illuminate at night when the turn signals are used. They only work when the headlights are on. Those are usually only found on the larger luxury Pontiac models back then.

I have literally owned a 68 300 with all but 2 features/options Chrysler ever offered.
Mine was the second rarest MOPAR ever made.
The reason mine was made was a guy in Chicago who was the purchasing exec for Checker Cab, and he leveraged a deal on taxi cabs to have this machine made.
The rarest was also a 68 300, but it was a one-off convertible with a factory installed 6 pack and manual.
The reason THAT one exists, is because it was built by a Chrysler exec.

    For the C-bodies:
69 Plymouth Fury could be had with the Snapper package, which included a tortoise-grain vinyl top.
There was the Fury Gran Coupe in 1970 that included brown paint, with brown paisley vinyl top and interior.
In 71 it was expanded to Fury 4doors, and beige paint was an option. (beige might've been beige in 70, but much less common)
Someone else mentioned the alligator top, which was available on various cars.
In 70 or 71 there was the Newport Cordoba (sometimes referred to as Aztec). All were copper paint, with some copper on some additional trim items, and special pattern vinyl top and interior.
1973 or so brought the Navaho edition, which brought a distinctive upholstery pattern to the Chrysler Newport.
And there are numerous more of these special releases that Chrysler did back then.

I believe it was a cuda (its been 10+ years)...but i remember thinking how off the wall it was. I didnt get a chance to talk to the owner but i always assumed it was custom. Now i know it was factory

VERY interesting video - I noticed that the Super Lite curiously was not available with dual air conditioning (Monaco or Polara wagons only presumably since they were the only Dodge models offering dual air conditioning - I’m guessing because the instrument panel switch for both options was in the same place - the label bezels were different of course) could you feature the dual air conditioning systems Chrysler Corporation featured in station wagons and Imperials from 1956/57 through 1973? ..

I see something else that is rare. At 0:27 sec, that Polara has the polished chrome nose cap (I believe it was an option), and have only seen it once, on a Polara 500 2dr. Was told only a handful of 1969 Polara's came with it.

I worked at the Belvidere, IL plant where the Dodge Monaco was built. I remember the super light making a big splash when one of the supervisors test drove a car. He came back the next day and was really impressed with that light. Execs occasionally were told to take a car and drive it, keeping the mileage below a certain number so it could still be sold as a new car. That was done to evaluate the vehicles. Several execs and even line workers ordered a Dodge just to get that super light. After several years they traded those cars in and only God knows where they ended up. But for awhile there were several of them in the Rockford - Belvidere, IL area.
This triggered a memory that others will probably find humorous. An executive took a Dodge that had been ordered by some wealthy guy in Rockford, IL. I think a banker or lawyer. They promised him the car before the coming weekend To make certain it was perfect an exec took it overnight for a shakedown. You might know, he hit a deer with it. The grille and one fender were damaged but that could easily have been replaced in a few hours since they were just bolted on.
He decided to toss the deer in the trunk and take it home. He got almost home when suddenly there was a horrible noise from the back. It sounded like the rear axle was coming loose and pounding on the frame. He stopped and to his horror, there were bulges in the quarter panel, but the noise didn't stop when he parked the car. It was coming from inside the trunk. The trunk lid was bouncing up and down, suddenly the taillight busted in pieces and fell on the ground. He understood then the deer hadn't died it was only knocked out. And now it was destroying the whole rear section of that car. He drove to the home of a friend and asked him for help. I don't remember what they did with the deer but when he brought the car back to the plant there was no way they could send that car to the dealer that same week. Both quarter panels which are welded on had to be completely replaced and painted. That was going to take awhile so they just had an identical car programmed and built it new. The wealthy guy got his Dodge in time for his weekend get away. The banged up car was repaired and shipped as a random production car.

While not being a Chrysler fan I did live through that era and I truly can say I never noticed the Superbeam on any big car(thought it might have been a deer whistle from the thumbnail😅)and certainly never have I in my life seen one of those flower top cars. I had no idea those even existed.
The Dana 53/60?...okay. Guess you gotta do with what you got sometimes. All the manufacturers have those frankenparts cars but thanks for the first two those were actually Chrysler only things.

I don't know if it's rare, But I have only seen it on Dodges. The Overdrive button on the dash. When OD is on, the button is black, But when OD is off, the button is lit up an orange/amber color and says "OD OFF" Other makes put the OD among the shift pattern, or if it's a button, on the shifter itself. MY 1990 Dodge B250 Ram van does not like steep hills that much, so I find myself always reaching up and poking the button to avoid the automatic doing that annoying "gear hunting" crap between 3rd and 4th gears over & over. I sit back from the dash a ways, and always have to lean up and reach around behind the steering wheel to use it. I often inadvertently swipe the end of the signal stalk in the process and hit the Washer button. Just enough to cause the wipers to make 7 to 8 dry-wipes across the windshield, but not spray the water. I want to relocate the button to the end of the shift lever. I could fabricate a shift-knob to accommodate the button, but the wire would have to be attached and trailing along behind the lever, looking like crap. Not a fan of dangly wires. Got enough of that with the phone charger and radar detector.
Honestly, I wish I could just rip out the automatic and fit a manual instead. But it's lasted 320K miles so far. I'm not messing with it too much.

If you search for "burgundy un-paisley vinyl roof", you will find out what happened to the leftover material. Chrysler re-colored the material burgundy for a special edition Imperial. After several years what happened? Surprise! The burgundy faded, showing the pattern beneath.
