    Things to note (8 year user of PlayAudio12):
    1. Use high quality USB cables, and if you’re going to have the interface more than 15ft from your computers use repeater cables with your regular cables.
    2. The RPT MIDI port is the equivalent of having 4 pairs of DIN input/output, which can greatly reduce the chance of any MIDI crosstalk between devices when configured correctly through Auracle or iConfig (which I still prefer though Auracle is the newer software), and even more flexible when coupled with an iConnectivity MIDI interface.
    3. There are several helpful UA-cam tutorials for iConnectivity gear. Watch them.
    4. Be patient, the more you want to do with the unit, the more complex it gets, but it’s worth the struggle ultimately.

    Great Video! We greatly appreciate you taking the time to make this video to help other artists/bands out. We also don't mind the promotion of the PlayAUDIO12. Glad it works well for you and your band.

    I can't believe I went this long without knowing the PA12 was even a thing. It literally solves all of the issues I've been having and more. Just wish I knew about it 5+ years ago hahah Thank you for the video!

    This video was super helpful! I'm building a very similar rig and have been looking for the best interface for this purpose. Mines a bit simpler, I'm the only one on ears (drummer) so I'm gonna feed a click and ques track to my small mixer that also has a feed from my EAD10 and lines coming in from my guitar player (Boss GT1000) and Bass DI. Then to the FOH patch bay on the front all I'm sending is L+R tracks on 1 and 2, and then a guitar track is being sent from channel 3 (4 piece rock band got to have a rhythm guitar). Nice and simple for the venue because they mic whatever they want for FOH and only monitors venue really has to worry about is our vocalist. I was originally thinking about getting the Audio4c, but I like that this is a bit more expansive for me. Great video!

    This video is fantastic and has helped me put together the live rig for my band in no time. The only thing I’ve been wondering is if you use a DI at all when sending signals from your laptop to the patch bay then front of house? I know the patch bay is balanced, but I’ve been told different things when it comes to using a DI from that to the sound desk. Also, how do you go about vocals live?
    Thanks for the video!

    • @BrandonWells
      @BrandonWells  Рік тому +1

      my computer plugs into the PA 12 and all the tracks come from there. all the outputs of the PA 12 are line-level balanced so you don't need any D.I.'s. I send 3 of the outputs through the patch bay to FOH that are L/R Stereo backtracks and then 1 single bass track feed so those can be mixed separately per venue.

    • @BrandonWells
      @BrandonWells  Рік тому +1

      I dont process my vocals currently. I just have a rack splitter where I send one line of my vocal to our digital mixer for ears, and then the other straight to FOH

    Thanks for the helpful video! We've been using our x32 digital rack as the usb interface for playback so that we don't have to take up additional inputs. However we aren't able to record as an audio interface if we are using the mixer as the playback device. The playaudio12 looks like a good solution. Are you using 1/4" to XLR from playaudio12 to the mixer directly? Is a DI box not required? Thanks!

    • @BrandonWells
      @BrandonWells  4 місяці тому +1

      oh rad! yeah I just have a bunch of 1/4" to XLR running from the PA12 to the behringer. the outputs from the pa12 are balanced already as well, so you dont need a d.i. box. just configure 2 of the outputs from PA12 for sending your tracks to the FOH, or you can just any of the AUX/output channels from your x32 as a split essentially for FOH

    • @BrandonWells
      @BrandonWells  11 місяців тому

      it comes with a strip of velcro for mounting to a rack shelf, or you can get the iconnectivity shelf that it bolts down to

  • @lukaszt489

    thank you for the video! I still don't just undestand what - other than the redundancy part -- would this give me vs. the current setup, which is just connecting my laptop (with tracks, keys VSTs) directly to X32 rack via USB? so x32 acting as a interface, so I can send as many separate channels as I want, and it's just routed on the right channels and then mixed on X32

    • @BrandonWells
      @BrandonWells  Рік тому +1

      there's nothing wrong with that at all. I wish I had the x32 lol. if you're just running 1 computer, you're all set if you're getting enough lines sent to your own ears and out to FOH for your own situation. if you want a backup of some sort, that's where you'd to need more tech. the PA12 is also an 8 channel USB interface across the 2-computer redundancy.

    • @MrPacoArespacochaga
      @MrPacoArespacochaga Рік тому

      Redundancy. If your laptop is a major part of your show, you need two of those laptops and the PA12 gives you the power of redundancy.

    How does it work with ableton? I just had a nightmare situation last night where I was playing a gig and my output kept disconnecting, it happened 7 times, however didnt happen during soundcheck. Im using a steinberg ur22 mkii. I was told the driver might be bad, so Im looking for a foolproof way of this never ever happening again. I am using a Mac Pro 13" 2020 m1 on macos 13.5

    • @BrandonWells
      @BrandonWells  11 місяців тому

      ooooof that sounds like a nightmare. I've never had that happen before. do you have the main output of your computer set to PA12? is the audio output set to PA12 in your Ableton project settings? is everything up to date on firmware between your computer, Ableton, and the PA12?

    Much more convinient and at even a cheaper price tag is using Dante instead of an external audio interface... Dante extension cards are available for most digital mixers on the market and on the computer you just need a piece of software to route up to 64 channels in AND out completely digital via network cable from your computer directly to the console... There are choices for single asio clients (Dante Virtual Soundcard) as well as multiple asio clients (Dante Via) on a single machine... You can even hook up more computers to the same network, as a total of 1024 channels is supported, so redundancy is no issue at all... No audio cables needed, no humming, no noise anymore at all... THIS is the perfect solution... 🙂

    • @MajorMoment

      so what happens when you pull up to the venue that doesn't have Dante? what do you give them, if you have no external audio interface with analogue outputs? also, from my understanding redundancy is switching on the fly, instantly should something go wrong. what would be controlling that process in your scenario?

    • @chrisdevlin4637
      @chrisdevlin4637 Рік тому +2

      I think you’re getting confused. Dante is great but it doesn’t have a failsafe.

    • @revp01
      @revp01 Рік тому

      Dante is okay but removes some control from the user. Great for Engineers but (IMHO) not great for stage talent. Id rather not be dependent on networking unless I’m using a venue dedicated computer.
      We need flexibility and control over our routing. Just give us 6-12 lines and let us plug-in. My gotos for backing track playback has been the playaudio12 and behringer xr18. Set and forget. Ready for every venue regardless of what foh requires.
