    New Control Arm with Ball Joint Set from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1ASF...
    Control arms are a crucial part of the suspension system of your vehicle. They not only carry the load of the vehicle to the wheel, but they typically also maintain its alignment. Control arms are typically large and strong, so you may be surprised it needs replacing. They contain rubber bushings for smoother rides at the cost of eventual wear, or integrated ball joints that require replacing the entire arm when they wear. This video shows you how to install a new quality TRQ lower control arm with ball joint in your 2013-19 Ford Police Interceptor Utility.

    Did he really just say "it's recommended to torque this bushing with the weight of the vehicle on it..."but it's too hard to get at the bolt that way.. " and than proceed to just torque in the wrong position. Next time just put a jack under the ball joint and jack the arm up till it just takes the weight of the vehicle. That way you won't be changing that bushing again in 3 months when it just rips itself apart from being torqued in the wrong position

    Just buy the full assembly with all bushings and ball joint not much more expensive . No need to press bearings. Time is money

    Great video, but I have one question? Under what circumstances you would have to change the control arm? If the ball joint is fine, but the bushing is worn (and vise versa), wouldn't it be cheaper to replace just the bushing instead of the entire control arm?

      Currently doing the bushing as the arm on my vehicle is 200 a piece and bushing are 50

      You replace the lower control arm when you start to feel a shake in the floor while accelerating because the control arm bushings are bad!

    hello guys great video. But tell me, does the lower control arm for the police interceptor (PART Number GB5Z-3078-E) fits the Sport Model?

    I HATE working on Ford suspension. That nut on the ball joint will spin until your head spins. Then you use the hex 10mm to hold it and round that off. 😉Then you take out the torch and try not to melt everything rubber around it, like the CV boot. 🤨

  • @isacchris1

    Why did you reuse the old mount when the new lower control arm comes with a new one already mounted and ready to go?

    • @danieldyer1
      @danieldyer1 3 роки тому

      If you are talking about the round aluminum mount with the rubber bushing inside, I think the control arm assembly they sell doesn’t come with that, although some other vendor’s assemblies do. That mount is often worn out too , although the one they reused in the video looked ok.

    Just had an accident in our taurus sho, Crashed into a tunnel wall in the rain because the car understeered. Somehow at 40mph the only damage was the ball joint on the control arm and the tierod plus since it hit the wheel on the wall the wheel got some big gash marks. no body damage somehow.
    Helpful video, Thanks
    Really needed to see how to remove that bushing since mine doesn't come with one

    No idea what to do if I’m re using the ball joint lol. Threads are super tight near the top, despite wd40 and wire brushing, working back n forth. Don’t want to buy control arm, I already got the large bushings. That’s all I need

  • @Rodecpt0
    @Rodecpt0 3 роки тому +4

    Did he just hammer that large control arm bushing on? I tried to do that and it’s almost impossible without a press

    • @josepharagon8259
      @josepharagon8259 2 роки тому +1

      When I received my bushing, it was the wrong one! Looks the same but had rubber on the inside, this would of made it nearly impossible to hammer in. The ones that will hammer in are metal and have slight ridges….

      Put the bushing in the freezer for 45 minutes . Freezing shrinks the rubber . Mine slid right on with 3 taps of the hammer .

    Why would TRQ give you a control arm without a large control arm bushing attached ? Why would you go through all that trouble to replace a control arm with an old bushing. Replacing it with a new one takes about 300 whacks with a dead blow hammer. Removing the old one is impossible without the tools you see in the video. I wish TRQ would charge a little more and give you what you need . I had a hell of a time getting a new bushing on the control arm. Never Again

      Were you able to get it on with just a dead blow? I'm having a hell of a time getting this stupid bushing on the new control arm its ridiculous the last set for my last vehicle came with it already pressed on.
