With a better commander for the Bismarck, I think this could have been more interesting. The amount of shells that went into the water from the Bismarck is crazy. Looks like the commander for that ship did a strategy of spray and prey rather than aim
Yeah I was kinda upset the reason the Bismarck’s commander was unexperienced. The Iowa’s commander was much better and experienced. This might have been more interesting if the skill levels were even.
Yeah that's about what I expected. here's a list describing why Iowa pretty much wins most of the time. They will be split into IRL and IG ("In Real Life" and "In Game") advantages will (try) not to be repeated from list to list IRL list Iowa advantages 1 - Superior and revolutionary armor design featuring an internal armor belt under an outer thinner steel "skin-plate" and thicker bow armor 2 - 9 16in main battery guns with more punching power, explosive yield, accuracy, and range than Bismarck's 8 15in guns 3- Immensely superior radar and fire control featuring radar controlled guns meaning the guns could be fired at targets out of visual range as long as the radar could see them 4 - 3.2 knot speed advantage meaning Iowa could keep Bismarck out of firing range and fire away until it finally sinks or (infinitely more likely) takes a critical hit and is unable to continue chasing after Iowa 5 - Radar sturdy enough not to be knocked out by the ship's own guns (yes this is a jab at how Bismarck managed to do that) 6 - Lower profile making it harder to see at range 7 - Much shorter turning radius and rudder shift time (not represented accurately in game due to nerfs during the beta for "balance issues" they did the same nerf to Yamato as well in reality both ships were incredibly nimble for ships their size) 8 - Actually deployed rather effective naval camouflage, if out of radar range or if Bismarck's radar is damaged (which it almost certainly will be throughout the fight because how fragile it is) it would be hard for Bismarck's gunners to acquire and reliably judge Iowa's speed and hull shape (Iowa was basically a mystery to all foreign powers throughout WWII, nobody knew it could make 33.2kts and nobody could've predicted the development of the MK8 Super-Heavy armor shell that proved to be devastating to enemy ships when deployed on USS Washington's MK6 16"/45 guns which's shells were five caliber's shorter resulting in a lower shell velocity and penetration in comparison to the Iowa's MK7 16"/50 guns.) IG list 1 - Standard American increased AP angles 2 - 12.7km detection range with appropriate build and upgrades, stealthiest BB at tier 9 3 - Great dispersion 4 - Accuracy upgrade which reduces dispersion even further 5 - how spotting works, Iowa could pop off a full broadside, go undetected, and make appropriate distance, and repeat this cycle All in all I see this fight as pretty clear cut for the most part. In-game? Iowa stomps unless you show too much broadside when you close in. In real life? Iowa wins again rather handily but if you say...removed radar as a factor the fight would be more even but I'd still argue for Iowa winning due to the aforementioned advantages. If anyone has any differing opinions I'd be happy to listen and reply to responses on this comment, though I may not be available during certain hours of the day, peace XD.

Bismarck 1939 vs Iowa 1943. In wartime 4 years can be a huge advantage for the newer ship. I think a closer match would be an Iowa 1943 vs Tirpitz 1944.
Alexius Nemo but it took the HMS Rodney and the HMS Kind George V 100mins to destroy the bismarck after her stearing was not working. The HMS Rodney had 16’ inch guns and the HMS King George V had 14’ inch guns. So the Bismarck would throw a good fight and damage the USS Iowa suvearly

All kids saying Iowa would easily defeat Bismarck in a shot although it would take MUCH MORE and the Bismarck managed to stay alive against hundreds of torpedo bombers and the best British naval ships.
Its on firepower mate, situations like that doesnt apply in combat, yeah like if your hit by butt ton of explosive and shells your the strongest warship, also iowa has better range and can outrange the bismarck cause of higher top speed
Iowa wasnt utilitizing all her big guns to it's best ability for maximum damage. Yes the objective was reached, just should have been reached sooner with less loss of life n less damage imho. Outstanding job Iowa HooYah Navy!!!
Worth noting after it was fully commissioned the Iowa was doing 3 things; traveling to & from action, being upgraded with better radar/equipment and finally fully engaged with the Fleet. Bismarck lasted less than 2 weeks before being sunk. My point being the Iowa had a skilled and experienced crew that had lived through multiple combat events.
Well yeah but last time I checked iwoa didn't get bombarded for four hours by practically 7/10 of a large navy and that said navy having to go home because they where running out of supplies and had to finish her off
The only reason why Bismarck died was because first she wasn't in a large group and only had the prince eugin with her and the that ship split off to do something else meaning Bismarck was all alone unlike iwoa which she was never alone and iwoa never had a almost entire navy trying to track here down over a course of days and it would have never happened if Bismarck was never put on such a ambitious mission

@@TheJimyyy its spelt first btw but it wasn't much of a 2v2 since the heavy cruiser was getting shot at the most and backed off leave Bismarck to handle pretty much a brand new battleship with some malfunctions and a ship that's on the borderline of battleship so it got damage but sunk hood and made king George the V back off and due to the damage it had to bomb rush it back am saying if theres a larger group to assist Bismarck she would be fine anyways and get to what she was meant to do in the Atlantic

The Iowa class has a firing rate of 2 rounds per minute, her optics are very good plus fire control is backed up with Radar that has strong structures that can handle the shock from muzzle blasts of her 16” Rifles. The Bismarck’s designed rate of fire was 2.25 rounds per minute; during her work ups during sea trials her Gunners working their 15” Rifles brought their rate of fire to 3 rounds per minute. I suspect that was contributing factor to the sinking of HMS Hood. Her optics were excellent which would have given her a slight advantage during daylight hours. She had radar which was weak in both signal strength with terrible radar antenna structure. During the day the Bismarck should have the advantage. At night, with it’s stronger radar both in signal and structural strengths it should have the advantage. Later in the War though, at night they would more or less be equal.
Captain of the Iowa came out very aggressive, the captain of the Bismark tried to play a defensive battle, tried too much maneuver and it didn't help him. Even still, the Bismark too a f*$king pounding! When the Iowa got in close, the Bismark just didn't have enough secondary guns to hold the Iowa off at distance. Had she had more secondaries, the Iowa would have been kept at an arm's length. And still in her badly wounded state made it a good fight. Had the Bismark come out more aggressively, or more elusively by maybe jamming full throttle to the south of the map and try to come in behind Iowa where he firepower can be overmatched, he would have had better results. But a great fight nonetheless!
This game cannot depict the power of Bismarck accurately because in real life Bismarck battled 1 Vs 9 British Ships. They struggled to sink Bismarck with lots of Torpedoes and massive firing on him.

That being said, I do respect the German's masterful work of art their other wonderful inventions, its just this was Ww2, and they pretty much were the enemy to the US and her allies at this time, and yes, I know this is a vedio game.

I don't hate Germans but I believe the US would win, Its was Imparative for the US not let of the Reich or the IJN ever to reach the US it only make sense that we would win. But an Engagement between the US Iowa and Bismarck wouldn't have napped unless the one fired on the other while the Bismarck was near Iceland, or the BB-61's transition to the Hawaii.
