Marriage is sacred. 1. Stop showing off your "marriage life"; there are too many people against it anyway. 2. Stop looking to other married couples and how they are married-focus on your own damn marriage life. 3. There is no such thing as a perfect marriage; there never will be. We’ve adopted too many ways of living from the West, including how we marry, so the problem is not getting married; it’s society and what Western ways deem normal. Lastly, marriage is a calling; we're not all meant to do it!
I agree marriage n personal lives should be sacred and should be kept far away from the media.. when people advertise their marriages, relationships etc it looks more of an Image to be sold to others to sell and what kills it is the honesty in it. Why I never trust anyone who advertises their perfect life on social media or any public platform. When you move in silence you do need to explain your decisions to strangers let alone strangers on social media.
I wholeheartedly believe in Marriage. I love seeing my children growing up in such a wholesome unit where mom and dad are living in one home with them having easy access to us. I still believe in marriage mainly because Ive seen what a unified couple does to their children in the sense that most of them become successful. In my opinion its something that still should be practiced especially seeing what the black household i going through where children grow up in single parent household tend to cause trouble in my own opinion, especially in black societies.

The formula is ultimate proper vetting which creates a proper foundation, with a good foundation ur marriage may be shaky but it can still survive. On your point about the woman getting spousal maintenance and nothing being expected from her towards her ex husband, is it not because the woman actually goes to court and claim spousal maintenance whereas the man does not even try to claim any of the benefits or value he was getting from her during marriage? For goodness sake, Marriage was never the barrier but it is for ensuring sexual discipline (until “Romeo & Juliet” made it about love). Society doesn’t recognize this free for all you are talking about. Being someone’s husband or wife gives you default rights and obligations which are protective. Do the free for all you are just not free from the consequences thereof. Even people who claim not to believe in marriage still leave everything to their mothers when they die and not their “partners”. Law makes the assumption that unless written otherwise you are entitled to inherit from your spouse.

I think we as blacks we should follow tradition. Leave out the white dress marriages, rings and what not. We don't have divorce in our culture, If a man is financially capable he may take another wife, provided he had a conversation of understanding with the current wife. No man should ever divorce s woman, in my language bare mosadi bogadi ga tsamaye, no matter how hot it is. she may leave to spend time with family but she's married to her husband forever and so is the husband. That is our tradition, black pride. been building stable families for hundreds of years., look at the white man with his laws thinking he knows all. Let's recall our roots. Our ancestors invested time looking for better ways to go about this, let's not discard. Power to tradition and family!
Yet there are more young black men growing up without fathers yet their fathers are alive. Tradition has failed you too! There is no overwhelming examples of traditional family setups that are prospering to the present age. My ex wife thought it was totally acceptable to foster friendships with random men on the internet. I have always been clear on my boundaries.
It is hard to make marriage work, it is even harder to make marriages across race and culture work. Interracial marriages have the highest divorce rate.

tbh, i don't get the sadness part of this.. relationship started as his rugby career was taking off, already certified he'd be a springbok and definitely millions he'd then make. He'd not have been attractive to her at all if he was just some poor struggling black dude from the eastern cape😂.. let's not make out like this is some amazing pure & great love story - she met him at a "dinner party in stellenbosch" they say, 😂
Enough things in this country for us to be sad about - like school kids in townships dying from poisonous foods😢
true. lets see the mass dating between at least township middle class boys and white girls. then yes we can say it's not about money or ethnicity.
@tcm6506 I don't think this is fair nor is it racial.
They met when Siya didn't have anything, and she's no different to any black girl from a decent school, who also wouldn't opt for a regular, poor township guy.

No offence to the seriousness of the matter but gotta love the humour in between all comments and Pen. Hope we all learn what ever we ought to learn. Love and Peace
Pen, the issue is people think they know what happens in ones live over a picture or a video. A picture is a still image that takes less than 10secs to capture a moment. One still has 23:59hr per day with that person. And generally people are fuxked up. Thats why i dont fuxk with this social media nonsense. You can think people got it all based on social media, in real life, its something else. But its the world we live in. That goes to you and I, man. No one has the knowledge of this life thing. All we do is what we think is right. Not everything can be solved academically, in fact, the less academic you are, the better you'd do in relationships.
Dr Umah speaks on this. Depending on their marriage contract, she may be entitled to half. That's money leaving the black community going to uplift a community that's already has plenty of it, as per Dr Umar.

As a unique individual as I'm 👏🏼 I simply do not believe in marriage, the divorce sucks.
Are u a devoted Christian? And are you planning to have kids? If you are a Christian, u shld knw the importance of marriage. U can't be afraid to get married bcoz of divorce. It's like being afraid of getting a job bcoz u might get fired one day. Wat can u do to prevent the chances of divorce? There's an actual formula, which can reduce ur chances of getting a divorce by at least 50%. The formula is ultimate proper vetting which creates a proper foundation, with a good foundation ur marriage may be shaky but it can still survive.
If you going to have kids, it's imperative to be committed bcoz without commitment u're just going to bring the kids in a broken home, might as well as not have the kids. They'll be called bastards. Imagine being called a bastard bcoz that's what kids born out of wedlock are.

Hi, where did you get your stat btw ? I'm genuinely curious.
On your point about the woman getting spousal maintenance and nothing being expected from her towards her ex husband, is it not because the woman actually goes to court and claim spousal maintenance whereas the man does not even try to claim any of the benefits or value he was getting from her during marriage? Has any man tried to claim house keeping, Sex, warm freshly prepared meals daily or any other value they were getting during marriage and failed?

Siya should've done the normal thing done by black men. that is to delay getting married until hes at least 30 years old. reason why most of us black dudes do that is because we grow up poor and we only afford to access women we want when we start earning decent incomes in our mid 20s. so the first few years of working are for getting even with women since we lost out from our late teens to early 20s.
the problem with Siya is that he married Rachel fearing that he'd lose her if he tags along as a gf. but then he was still owing a debt of getting even with his poor past. so he must have gotten even when he was married.
At least he never has illegitimate kids before marriage

People who file for divorce ,when do they decide to stop having sex?
Do you wake one day and say , im no longer having sex with you
For goodness sake, Marriage was never the barrier but it is for ensuring sexual discipline (until “Romeo & Juliet” made it about love).

What do you mean building families? 67% of SA kids have never met their fathers. Only family they have is their mother and their mother's family
Yet there are more young black men growing up without fathers yet their fathers are alive.
Tradition has failed you too! There is no overwhelming examples of traditional family setups that are prospering to the present age. According to your tradition, the woman stays married to the man forever, yet the man still has side chicks. The black traditional man needs to learn to keep his willy in his pants 😂
