PRIDE AND JOY TAB HERE: www.guitarmusi...
In this free video guitar lesson, you learn how to play the opening to Stevie Ray Vaughan's blues song, "Pride and Joy." You can follow along with a free tab PDF available from the instructor's website. You see a breakdown of the shuffle rhythm strumming pattern in the notation and tablature. Guitarist Desi Serna shows you step by step how to get the signature SRV sound. Also tabbed is the lead line during the turn around section, which is a great example of using the minor pentatonic blues scale with some chromatic passing tones.

I have been looking for a good lesson on this SRV song. This is one of the best lessons that I have seen. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect pace -wonderful detail !!
Glad you like it!
Best teacher. Loud and clear. I will subscribe
Excellent lesson!
Really good lesson, Desi! I actually made some progress with the string muting part, which is of course really tough to master.
Where could I learn the solo ?
@@fadeskywards1245 I don't have a video for the solo. You'll need to search UA-cam and see if someone else has taught it.

I’ve been fumbling with guitar for years, and know some chords and scales. Through his videos, podcasts and books, Desi’s got me playing songs. Cool songs too. I’m over the moon! Great teacher! Bravo!
Thanks for sharing!
In your opinion. This song is for a begginer guitarist or an intermediate one?
Intermediate for sure. It's not easy! I have beginner guitar lessons on my website. GuitarMusicTheory.com
Thanks
SO --where is this SRV TAB ? I do not see it --! Or do you have a secret place where we must pay to see it ?
The link is in the video description. Here ya go: www.guitarmusictheory.com/pride-and-joy-guitar-intro-tab/

You are one of the greatest guitar teachers on UA-cam.
Thank you! 🙏
Thanks so much learning this version helped me so much with the full version! Again thank you so much👍
I've tried to learn this technique from multiple different sources and this is the most helpful I've learnt. You're not teaching the song as much as you are on how to learn the technique. I hope you've helped many musicians learning as much as you helped me.
Exactly. I'm glad you get it.
Best ive seen thanks
Superb lesson ,I've watched dozens of others and got confused ! You break it down very well. Thanks!
hey man, great lesson, as always......what are you using as a stomp box for the bass drum sound, very cool sound?

@@desisernaguitar also anyone reading these comments....the guy takes the trouble to reply, what a gentleman...respect.
Now i put all the secrets of the song to the shelves. Thank you, you are a wonderful teacher!

Excellent lesson. I finally learned how to do this.
Nice pace.Excellent advice, and instructions.Thanks.
Great Lesson here, plus in Standard Tuning!
Didn’t feel comfortable doing this song live before because of the shuffle but you explained it perfectly for me. Tks.
Glad I could help!
Great teaching.........Thanks dude
Thanks for making it simple for the dummies. This is a good base to build from.
Good job it easy to see your fingers and good explanations on all the parts .like someone else has said you made a confusing part easy
I am sorry but this is an oversimplification of the riff, you are missing many things (A and E chords as a bridge for the C/C# notes for example or the G-G# notes)
Exactly. This is simplified to teach the technique.
Great lesson.. thank you 🙏
My pleasure!
👍👍
Great tuition
Glad it helped!
Why learn the easy way when it is wrong and then have to go back and correct it? Why not take the time to break it down and learn it the right way first? For example, there is a not missing in the base line. You need the 3rd then the 4th fret on the way up. You cannot get the rhythm correct witrhout that note on the 4th fret. .
The purpose of this video is to teach the fundamental technique in a step-by-step manner because so many players struggle with it. As an instructor, it’s my job to break things down and help guitarists gradually add to their skills in a manner that enables them to make progress and play things they wouldn't otherwise be able to play. It’s too much for most guitarists to play the main “Pride and Joy” technique and all the added bass notes and fills on top of it right out of the gate. Learning is a process.
Dave , WOW SO WRONG!!!!!! Complete waist of time. you didn't even do the shuffle right. you should have said it was for lazy people. then your trying to sell stuff.........yikes
@@davidblanche7961 omg didnt Mr. Serna just tell you why he is teaching it this way.
Fool.
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Desi, your courses and instruction is awesome!
Nice try...but this is not Stevies way to play it, sorry...I like your way, and Stevie plays it live differently every time!
Dont let me be misunderstood ..It is great your interpretation..but not SRV style...
You missed the point of this lesson.
Stevie Ray’s styling not necessarily the way he plays it, Desi is an excellent teacher, he explains the essence and the feel. Obviously you missed the point of the lesson as he stated in the reply
The clearest and most detailed video anywhere teaching the fundamentals of this challenging technique! Thanks!
Wow, thanks!
i don't understand why people play it in standard tuning, it's very easy to tune it half step down, there is no reason to play this song in a wrong tuning
I dont care about half tuning donw when i can play anything on my own feeling way😂
It must be very confusing for you , do you think those big box powders are really value for money ?
To much yapping
Pay attention. You might learn something.
