Director Charles M Pepiton offers a fresh look at the characters as they balance heart, mind, and expectation living on a British colonial tea estate in India. The year is 1919. It is a time and place filled with change and uncertainty. Cultures are clashing and blending. World War I has just ended, and the men are returning from battle with one thing on their minds. As Claudio says in Act I, "But now I am returned and that war thoughts have left their places vacant, in their rooms come thronging soft and delicate desires..."
