I believe they meant that they wouldn't want to touch the stars or rewrite them, so this MAP never goes away, so they will bury themselves in a pit. Not gonna lie, it was worded very weirdly.
Mothwing sat at the edge of the lake, tail curled around her slim, golden figure. The white moonlight washed over her fur, illuminating her yellow gaze as she studied the way the water lapped at her forepaws and rippled when the breeze touched its pliable surface. All was silent, despite Leafpool's promise to come at moonhigh as she had asked her - it was past then. Maybe she'd changed her mind?
"Mothwing?"
The sound of Leafpool's voice made the she-cat's heart sputter in her chest. Without turning around, and with her tail wrapped even tighter around her, she began to speak. "You know I want you," she meowed, lifting her head. Was that something she should say? She could hear Leafpool shifting on her paws. "It's not a secret I try to hide," the words were coming out quickly now. If she were to stop talking, perhaps the mottled tabby would have a chance to interrupt, to refuse, and so she continued hastily, worriedly, "I know you want me, so don't keep saying our hearts are tied."
Leafpool crossed the stretch of grass, sitting beside Mothwing, a tail-length or so away. The RiverClan cat offered her a glance, but the tabby wouldn't - perhaps couldn't - look her way, so she rose to her paws and took a few steps off, not meeting her friend's gaze. "You claim it's not in the stars, that fate is pulling you miles away and out of reach of me, but you're here in my heart, so who can stop me if I decide that you're my destiny?" summoning every bit of courage in her chest Mothwing turned to look at Leafpool. The expression on her face held no emotion, and Mothwing's heart sank. She took a step forward, "What if we rewrite the stars? Say... you were meant to be mine? Nothing could keep us apart! I'd be the one you were meant to find."
The words came out in a torrent, and tears pushed at the she-cat's lids. Leafpool remained silent, but the slightest hint of a smile played at the corner of her muzzle and her eyes squinted like they always did when she was trying to keep from purring, particularly when other medicine cats were around. Overcome with emotion, she pressed her head against Leafpool's, and as soon as she realized what she was doing she pulled away again, then turned away, embarrassed. She bounded in the other direction, and she could hear Leafpool following. "It's up to you, and it's up to me, no one can say what we get to be!" she urged, slipping through the reeds and stopping again, head down. "So why don't we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours, at least for tonight..."
Leafpool pressed her pelt against Mothwing's, and surprise flooded the golden tabby. She felt the she-cat's tongue lap her ear a couple of times, but then the warm feeling of their fur pressed together was gone as the brown and white cat took a few steps away. She rose her head to the sky, then sighed, "You think it's easy," she mewed softly, "You think I don't want to run to you. But there are mountains. There are paths that we can't walk to."
Leafpool swung around and pressed her head beneath Mothwing's. "I know you're wondering why because we're able to be just you and me, within these walls, but we go outside you're gonna wake up and see that it was always hopeless. Mothwing, no one can rewrite the stars."
"We can," Mothwing choked, but Leafpool leapt away again.
""How could you say 'you'll be mine'? Everything keeps us apart, and..." she sat down, dropping her head and gritting her teeth. The golden tabby wished to comfort her but she pulled away, taking a few steps toward the lake and staring at her reflection. "I'm not the one you were meant to find." With a splash she disrupted the perfect image of herself in the water, her voice coming out in a mixture of anger and grief. Mothwing's heart pounded.
"It's not up to you, it's not up to me. Not when everyone tells us what we can be," she lifted her head to gaze at the star-strewn sky, a beautiful purple hue stretching from horizon to horizon speckled with glittering white dots. "How can we rewrite the stars? Dare to say the world could be ours?"
Mothwing bounded after Leafpool, "All I want is to be with you."
"Well, you can't."
"Please, you don't understand. You're thinking too rigidly. If you'd just throw away this whole StarClan thing, and give me a chance!"
"You know I want you. It's not a secret I try to hide. But I can't have you - we're bound to break, and my heart is tied," with that, Leafpool left as quickly as she came, stepping into the forest. Mothwing hung her head.
"I don't know what I was thinking," she murmured, "She would never be mine."
YESS! YOU ARE SUCH AN UNDERATED WRITER! YOU SHOULD MAKE A FAN NOVELLA CALLED "Rewriting The Stars" with Leafpool being unable to stay away from Mothwing, running away together, ect, maybe finding kits to raise? Or being found be clan cats? (Particularly RiverClan and ThunderClan) so, whatever you think

I grew up in a very conservative, homophobic household. I was honestly very confused about why they taught me that being LGBTQ+ was wrong. Although I didn't voice it, I couldn't understand why people couldn't love who they wanted. I saw this map on my for you page, and it changed me for the better. When I watched it, I saw the opposite of what my parents taught me. Instead of "sin", I saw a pure and beautiful love portrayed in this map. I'm so thankful for it, because it helped my eyes to be opened, and free me from my parents influences.

This almost broke my heart. The emotional animation was one thing. But choice of scenery... Most people probably teared up mid song. But I'm harder to break. And mostly I don't. But that very last scene, fading away after death, leaving Moth... All alone.

Looking down at her paws, she took a small step forward,
“Mothwing?” A familiar voice made Mothwing spin around, ears perked up. “Why did you ask me to meet you here?” Mothwing took a deep breath as she looked into Leafpool's eyes. Leafpool tilted her head and looked at Mothwing. She looked away, embarrassed.
“You know I want you.” She sang. “It’s not a secret I try, to hide.” Leafpool looked at her with an expressionless glance and Mothwing looked at her reflection in embarrassment. Could she really go back to Riverclan camp at this point? “You know you want me, so don’t keep saying our hearts, are tied.” Mothwings silky voice continued and she watched her reflection ripple in the water. “You claim it’s not in the stars, and fate is pulling you miles away, and out of reach from me, but you’re here in my heart so who can stop me if I decide, that you’re my destiny?” Leafpools eyes were squinted, like what she did when she was trying to keep from purring. Mothwing looked her right in the eyes. “What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine?” She leaped into the grass and Leafpool followed, slowly at first, and they ran together through the grass. Leafpool stopped and stood at the lake, Mothwing slipped back through to her and stood beside her as Leafpool gazed down at her reflection. “Nothing could keep up apart, you are the one I am meant to find.” Mothwing sang. “It’s up to you, and it’s up to me. No one can tell us what we can be.” Mothwing and Leafpool ran together in the grass before stopping, gazing up at silverpelt. “So why don’t we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours, tonight.”

“All I want is to fall with you.” They sang together. “So just give me all of you.”
Mothwing began to run off and Leafpool followed her, purring as she rushed through the grass under silverpelt.
“How do we rewrite the stars?” They sang. “Say you were made to be mine, nothing can keep us apart.You are the one I was meant to find.”
“It’s up to you.” Mothwing sang.
“And it’s up to me.” Leafpool replied.
“And no one can say what we get to be.” They harmonized. “Why don’t we rewrite the stars? Changing the world, to be ours, tonight.” Leafpool looked at Mothwing, hope drained from her eyes as she saw the sun rising. She walked away slowly back to Thunderclan territory.
“Leafpool wait!” Mothwing yowled, her golden fur brushing in the wind. Leafpool looked at her, stopping in her tracks.
“You know I want you…” the brown she cat cried. “It’s not a secret I try, to hide. But I can’t have you. We’re bound to break and my heart, is tied.” And with that, Leafpool rushed off to try not to be noticed by her clan.
Mothwing stared up at the last stars in the sky.
“So why don’t we rewrite the stars.” She looked down at her reflection again. “Say that the world, could be ours… tonight.” She splashed her reflection and ran off.
It’s not the best but I tried 😝 enjoy

I remember rewatching that part so many times when it came out, the singing harmonizes so beautifully together and the animation is phenomenal like IM GETTINGCHILLSITSSOGOOD

Leafpool felt her heart begin to sink from their slight argument. Mothwing lifted her head lightly, shifting the moonlight on her fur.
"What if we could rewrite the stars," Mothwing started, anxiously pressing her paws to the riverbank.
"We can't rewrite the stars, Mothwing, we just can't." Leafpool mewed, her voice breaking because she wasn't too sure either if they could. "You know, I want you," Mothwing came closer, "Maybe the world could be ours." Mothwing felt Leafpool's stone hard gaze, making her turn away.
"I love you, Leafpool. Don't leave me alone!" Mothwing called at the dark-amber spotted cat bound farther away.
"Me to, but I'm a medicine cat for StarClan's sake!" Leafpool snapped back, her golden eyes reflecting the moonlight in a soft gleam.
"I have kits too, Mothwing, we can't." Leafpool added, her voice lifted slightly. "Leafpool, all I want is you." Mothwing reached her paw out, hoping for the slightest bit of remorse but to no avail. Leafpool stayed silent, feeling tears form on her face.
Leafpool picked up her rosemary she had collected, and listened to the cat call out to her. Though feeling bad, Leafpool knew she had done the right thing.
"I love you." Mothwing quietly cried out, moving her head down to the forgiving river.
Mothwing's tawny golden fur touched the water, and with that Leafpool had vanished.

This was a really sweet ans beautiful song, I know i'm litterally commenting this THREE years after it came out, but it really was a great song and the animation was spectacular!
You really did a good job here, as well as the several artists helping out in this! I LOVE how in the audio, it makes Leafpool and Mothwing not sound so much like they're singing to each other (even though they are), but they sound more as if they were having a real conversation, which is crucial to this sort of thing, and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
