- First we climb over Selden Pass, deal with roaring Bear Creek, and anticipate a nice dinner only to be let down. Weather is an unpredictable thing but it all works out in the end.
Takes me back. I worked the PCT from 73 to 77. Florence Lake to Edison Lake to northern border of Sierra National/Inyo National. Some of my fondest memories. Use to love dinner at Vermillion Resort after 10 days in the wilderness. Great pies..Thanks for the video.
Continually repairing equipment is an old and hallowed tradition. My favorite quote of all time is: Farming is 10% Agriculture, and 90 % fixing stuff that got broke. I think that was from Cleveland Amory. Anyway, the Apollo 17 astronauts spent the most time on the Moon, and most of the last day was spent repairing their spacesuits. Good luck! And I've enjoyed your videos!
"It just has to last a few more days." A common saying among us thru hikers.
Amazing views indeed Jay, thanks. The bridge that you guys crossed at the resort is made out of glulam beams. Thanks again for the great videos. I enjoyed them all.
Sallie Keys was like quicksand! The logs are there for a reason. I remember being stuck in 2016 and my service dog Ray looking helplessly at me. Got stuck in a lightning strike at the top of Seldon, but got to camp with llamas at Bear Creek. Really love this part of the PCT.
Another great video. Glad to know you all survived the high country.
Beautiful scenery, amazing flowers, another great video, thank you for sharing
Beautiful night time scenes. Is that the Milky Way? Be blessed. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and post your videos!
Loving your videos! Can't wait for the next one.
Wow, OMG, awesome, Ahhhhhh... That quail was a grouse BTW, good eatin'
2heeldrivin' San Juan If it got any closer to us it may have been dinner!
Where do you call home Jay? Get this feelin' you're not from California, but you've just about hiked the length of it.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen the VVR dock on a Vlog before. Not was I was picturing! Bummer they couldn't pick you up.
Love the mystery plant ID!
I’ve seen the Snow Flower but not that other puffy flower.
Enjoying your videos!
No, I'm not ready to hike the PCT in 2019, but I will be ready for 2020. :) Another awesome video.
Melanie Rose Whatever advice you may need I'd be more than willing to help. You will love it!
Great video. It’s Sunday and I’m watching Hallmark movies. They’ll be there when you get done. 😂
Susie Flores If there are any super good ones I'd love to watch them later! Keep a list. 😁
there are some nice trout under that log jam.....I wish I was there with my fly rod....sigh.....
V Poppawolf Supposedly if you can see them they can see you and will less likely bite. Don't worry I get a few of them later.
Well there Jay! That picture of your tent with the dark sky and the stars behind it was awesome. Also the "puffy circular flower" was a trip! I wonder if you'll see those on the CDT? : )
Dave Nelson I've been calling them kitty paws and I have seen fields of them since then in all varieties of sizes. I'll bet they are out there.
That steak does look good.
you have to stalk them....there's technique that I use for clear water....I generally use dry flies
As to VVR, I just took that 5 mile unmaintained pack mule trail in. Not worth the effort! This is where I had to do my one and only emergency foot surgery. MTR is a much better resupply!
Phoenix Genesis I'd like to visit it someday but it was still closed the dates we went by.
Jay Wanders Out Yeah, I forgot that it was closed as I went later in the season in 2016. I am sure you will go back to the Sierras again. It never really leaves you. It is like there is an invisible cord pulling us hikers back to the trail again and again and again.
Jay great videos! So how was the walk to VVR & not take the boat? I'm doing a JMT Nobo thru hike in August & stoping at VVR.
FOLLOWING WALKERS WORLD Lots of shorter up and downs but it was quite scenic. I rather enjoyed it actually except the dirt road walk at the end. There were only a couple of parts with mud but that's almost expected everywhere right now.
Awesome as usual!!! Are YOU ready to do the AT in 2019??
flamedancer44 Oh I hate ticks so much I don't know about that. We'll see what happens after this.
@@JayWandersOut Any decision yet?? lol
Bet that steak was well worth the wait!
Rogue Preparedness I should have gotten two!
A lot in front and the ones behind I don't think they Dealt with a fast high Bear Creek. Crotch deep and not as fast or knee deep and hardly moving.
Willard Wooten Someone that crossed it there said one of his trekking poles broke from the pressure. Downstream we saw a water bottle and a jacket snagged in the middle so people definitely had problems there.
