Kendrick perkins not gonna be happy with this one lmao
Haha good one
SAS isn't either.
It's Luka. They are within sight of the 4th seed and the only reason they aren't there already is because of the ridiculous injuries they had pre trade deadline. He was playing HEAVY minutes night in and night out to keep the Mavs afloat when they were consistently missing 2-3 starters every game, and he was putting up 35 point triple doubles a lot while doing it. His averages are out of this world, he had statistically the 2nd best game of all time behind Jordan (73 points!), broke the record for consecutive triple doubles... and so much more this season. Last night he basically ended the rockets in the first quarter, a team who were on an 11 win streak and the hottest in the NBA. Jokic is having a great season but Luka is just on another level this season. He absolutely deserves it.

THe thing that has impressed me most about Luka this last month was his numbers dropping was a good thing actually. The synergy between him and Kyrie has grown to a level, I admit, I never thought was possible. They were actually able to move on from "your turn/my turn". I think that shows to us he does have what it takes to play with another star. And this star was someone almost no one thought would snyergize well with him.
One thing that make me sure Luka & Kyrie would work just fine is when Mark Cuban said Kyrie understand that it is Luka's team. And knowing how ball dominant Luka is, basically no superstars would team up with him unless they know and understand that they will be the 2nd option and that's what Kyrie did when he resign. On the other side, Luka is smart enough to give the ball to any teammates that is on a hot streak. Doesn't matter if it's Kyrie, THJ, Exum, Gafford, etc. If he know that his teammates is hot he will gives them the ball.
his numbers were dropping cause teams were blitzing him. last night rickets decided to defend him 1 on 1 and he went on a tear.
@@vantianhergheligiu12 well that's because if they blitz or double him, he can easily make the pass to the roller and the Rockets don't have enough strength in the paint to go against Gafford and Lively. The one time Rockets blitzing kyrie he pass it to Gafford and he got a hammering dunk. 😆
@@vantianhergheligiu12yeah but bro also has ~15 assists both of those games. He’s going to Jill you one way or another

I really hate the position Giannis is in because, by all accounts, he's having an incredible year - on par with his previous MVP seasons. Unfortunately for him, I think it really is between Jokic and Luka. With the Mavs finally healthy and winning consistently, I don't see how Luka shouldn't win. The only argument against him this season has been "he doesn't win enough." Dallas is now the 5 seed with a shot at 4th, and they're 11-0 in the last 11 games that Luka has played.

Luka is having the best season in the nba this year. Jokic is close but hasnt been better than luka individually, we overweight how much his slighty better efficiency actually has an impact on the game. Jokic's better effeciency this season is great, yet the nuggets only get an extra 2.6 shots a game compared to the mavs.
I agree but his efficiency is still important
Extra 2.6 shots equals an extra 2.6 points (or something close to that) which is significant.
Every advanced stat goes to Jokic except Usage rate. Which explains why his numbers are so inflated
2.6 shots is significant at the NBA level
@@kailencitron6839 Yes it is, but luka is scoring 8 more ppg. Those shots would have to be 4 point plays to cover the difference between Luka’s and Jokic’s scoring.

As a Serb, this makes me hyper happy (Luka is half Serbian, not a well known fact). We don't have much but we have great ballers 😊
Oh its a well known fact because there is always some Serb in the comments trying to claim Luka like he is some sort of object. He was born and raised in Slovenia just as his parents. Only one of his grandparents was a Serb and this kind of slightly mixed roots are common for almost everyone in modern Europe. Its ridicolus that anyone would even consider Luka being a Serb just because of that
@@amberanubis8336 what? his dad is a serb, his mom is slovenian, his parents divorced and he chose to play for slovenia, it really is not that deep. people mostly wish he played for serbia because they'd have him and jokic (and the international success they could achieve together) but they still love him regardless.
I'm a Mavs fan and think Joker wins it again but Luka should get serious consideration.
every time i see nba insta posts after a game, luka is almost always on there, usually with 30+ points and usually a triple double.
We need you to weigh in on the Tim Duncan debate Kenny
There’s no debate. Timmy is #4-10 all time. He doesn’t have a goat argument because he wasn’t a high scorer
man i hate being a Bucks fan this year 😢
The part i hate most about this is everyone only looks at the counting stats.
Luka is at 34 9 and 10, with 1.4 steal and 0.5 blocks
Jokic is at 26 12 and 9 with 1.3 steal and 0.9 blocks
Looking at this, you'd think, "damn, Luka's stats are far superior" which they are... until you look at everything else.
Luka Jokic
38 Minutes/G 34
24 FGA/G 18
9 FTA/G 5
49% FG% 58%
38% 3P% 37%
So you can take these stats however you want, but the way I personally perceive them is Jokic can have the same impact on his team, with less usage, meanwhile taking his team to the better record.
That's why, personally, I think Jokic deserves the MVP (Not to throw shade on Luka, I think he's an absolutely beast)
but you can look even further for field goal percentage. 49% which includes 10 3s a game is pretty impressive. I don't think anyone has shot basically 50% with that many 3s taken except for curry.
Luka and Nikola are clearly the best, they are bringing millions of fans back to the NBA. Nobody ever said I can't wait to watch Embiid or that other guy you mentioned who I honestly don't even know who he is.

Ive never seen the NBA media disrespect a great player like Luka, (who has the potential to be the greatest ever when its all said and done), since.. jokic himself. Like they were really trying to put ant edwards ahead of him? Gtfoh.
Please let there be more considered and intelligent discussions on MVP in national media being held by people like yourself KB. I want Luka to win MVP, but I absolutely concede that SGA is a more complete 2-way player than Luka. And that should absolutely hold weight in the MVP conversation, not to mention also taking OKC to No.1 seed at this point in time. Giannis could definitely be legitimate winner this year with his efficiency and numbers and good seeding with the Bucks. And Jokic is Jokic.
But Luka is putting up historic numbers along with historic performances, helped the Mavs to defy pre-season expectations, whilst dealing with an injured Kyrie (missed 35% of games) and other key role players, on a team that is the weakest against the other MVP candidates' teams (Nuggets, OKC, Bucks).
as a thunder fan I think that luka deserves it
The Giannis disrespect is crazy. Like actually crazy asf.
Jokic imo is the MVP over luka both amazing players with amazing counting stats, and luka getting his seeding helps a lot too however I think the on off numbers really skew for jokic in my opinion Denver plumets in the offense when jokic is on the bench and thats where you see most of the losses happen this year unlike with the mavs where they do get worse without luka but not as much as you would think from a 35/10/10 guy going to the bench a lot of flow from the mavs offense gets cleared up when luka is gone (Luka is not a ball hog)
Shocked kenny didn't show the luka hook shot from almost 3.
If Luka gets the Mavs to home court advantage and they win 50-52 games (I believe he will because of their easy schedule) he will be the MVP
Mavs hovered near .500 until Ky got back Jokic holds it down and gets a conference lead with Murray out.
Nah, it's when they did the mid-season trade for Gafford and PJ Washington
As a Rockets supporter it was so frustrating watching Luka carve that defense up. Bro had like 22pts 6rebs and 5ast through the first quarter! And Kyrie was getting busy too. He was doing whatever he wanted. Bro hit an up and under finger roll from damn near the 3 point line 🤦🏽♂️
Looking back at the Giannis disrespect in a few years is going to be crazy
It’ll all make sense when we look back at their careers in 15 years and Jokic is a top 5 player of all time
It's gonna be the same for Jokic last season. It's gonna be the same if Luka is on Giannis place or even lower this season. I don't think it's disrespectful, it's just happened that there are few players who having their best season ever at the same time.
Bucks: 47/30, 2nd seed in the East.
Mavs: 47/30, 5th seed in the West.
Now remember how much shit Luka got because of his seed throughout the year.
Jokic is once again the *most valuable* player when you look at his on/off numbers, but can we deny Luka’s 34 points 9 rebounds 10 assists.
On off numbers are overrated
Jokic mainly plays with starters so his plus/minus numbers are inherently going to be more inflated compared to Luka who plays with everyone in the rotation, especially when the Mavs were heavily injured

He's good but Luka is 34 9 9 on a much tougher western conference compared to the east
It shocks me that Jokic is getting no love for clutch player of the year. He is very slightly less efficient than sga and curry in the clutch on good volume, but more so than any other player by far, he consistently sets up high-quality shots for his team, AND he is the quarterback of the best clutch defense in the league.
At the end of the day, you put Jokic or Luka on the Pistons, which one takes that team to being a championship contender faster? It's Jokic. He's more valuable.
Who would win in a 2v2: Luka & Jokic or Giannis & Shai?
luka & jokic are not stopping giannis & shai, but giannis & shai are good enough defensively to impact luka & jokic
It should be between SGA and Jokic.
When things are super close like this year things like seeding matters. Defense matters. Expectations matter. I think it should be Shai and if not Shai it should be Jokic.
My argument for SGA is that he’s leading a team with 0 vets to a top 3 seed in the western conference.

Is it a hot take to say in the next 10 years I think only 1 or 2 of the MVPs will be American born?

Clutch player is demar
I agree . I lean more towards Luka , with his team injury but can’t go wrong with jokic .
I still think jokic is best player in the nba
I love Kenny’s content but his analysis is pure vibes. I get the eye test is part of the vote but he’s essentially doing the same thing as these “old media” news outlets and making his vote from narratives mostly
Luka is just the most valuable player. Has been. People just starting to realize. Jokic wouldn't sniff the playoffs without Murray and Gordon. Luka took the khawi clippers to 7 with boban. BOBAN. Just stop bro. Get off these comment sections bro.
@@themaverick1898 I have Luka as my mvp since December. What are you yapping about sir
@@superiorvibes4639 I'm on a mission to get luka the mvp.
@@themaverick1898 then we on the same team brother 🤝🏾
Luka is not injured although they said it’s to boost the mvp race
Kenny where is SGA in the thumbnail?? Don’t scare me😢😢
It's a close race, if Jokic ca pull of some crazy stats and get the number 1 seed then I do think he has the chance of winning but if Luka gets the 4th seed then I think its his to lose unless what I just mentioned happens then it's a 50/50. Also they may also give it to jokic for not giving it to him last year. Also Jokic's true shooting has been utterly insane and that could be a big factor.
Jokic should win tbh. Luka doesn’t have the record and Jokic is putting up great stats still
mavs are 5th in the west now, jokic won an mvp and he was 7th or 8th
@@fatman3177 but he won it with a wizards level roster
It's a team sport separate that from mvp
@@vasco9823 u see the mavs this year, apart from kyrie the team is ass
@@fatman3177 its tough for me to ignore a top 50 all time player lol, but their team is better than that nuggets team regardless. majority of them are out of the league 2 years later, and even the starters other than gordon were no more than fine rotation players. with this being said, i'd be totally fine with luka winning this year despite being the 5th seed but its not at all comparable to when jokic did it
The leader of the team with 60 Wins will forever get no respect
Looks like defense will forever be under appreciated
😂😂😂
jokic literally has the 5th best defensive rating in the NBA
Luka is an average defender but one of, if not the best offensive player in the league. Not every MVP needs to be a two-way god.
Luka’s averaging 1.5 steals per game, he’s like 6th or 7th in the league. He’s not an elite defender by any means, but he deserves a little credit.
Jokic is an average defender, same with Luka, SGA Isn’t some elite defender, he’s good for sure but giannis is what you would call an elite defender
Shout out to Jxmy Highroller for showing how crazy of a season Luka is having yet barely is in the top 5 of the MVP ladder
I don't understand the Luka over Shai argument. Luka stays in games to stat pad when up by 20, his net rating is +4 compared to +11 from Shai and Jokic, and the Mavs are barely in the playoffs. Plus Shai is leading one of the youngest teams ever to a top seed in an elite west
Luka doesn't have Jokic beat in any advanced stat. I don't know how that can be true and people choose Luka over Jokic. The stat padding is partly why counting stats are not the determiner of MVP anymore
Barely in the playoffs? They’re the 5th seed in a stacked west. 8th best team winning % in the league
How is 5 seed barely in the playoffs with a 7 game win streak? Denver and OKC would be a play-in team without Shai and Jokic- Dallas would be a 10 seed without Luka- Just look at the stats, without Luka mavs offense and Ovr drops to 27th with him they’re top-5. Just stop
Luka is averaging 29/9/8 per 36 while shai is averaging 25/5/5 per 36
@@kaotic_9718 what is Luka's on/off win probability?
I’d love to see this game go international like soccer or the most loved sport in the world, have lakers play against Madrid from Spain or teams from around the world and actually make it a “world championship”
If Embiid or Shai didn’t get hurt…
They would still be worse players but better scorers. Luka and Jokic are better playmakers.
shai just got hurt , it wouldn’t have changed anything
Shai doesn't have a major injury. Is there something that bothers him? Yes but Luka is playing through many lingering issues as well.
@@DenOndeMister Shai isn't better scorer than Luka.
@@ronibarlund4464more efficent scorer
Oh man, Kendrick Perkins would HATE your picks.
Shai is the only choice
Stephen A somehow has a vote & doesn’t even have Luka in his top 4 for MVP 🙄
What’s crazy to me is that the top 4 in the mvp race are all international players
