Hey, this is the exact video I was looking for. I was wondering because I mainly play blade and sorcery using quest link and every now and then use steam link, do you still think it’s worth buying even though I don’t work on my VR or anything like that? Because I have noticed more compression when using steam link and quest link on videos. Thanks for your time!
Hey there and thanks for watching! Personally, I experience less compression and less stuttering with virtual desktop compared to Airlink and Steam Link. And although most people I come across in forums and groups seem to say the same thing, there are some here and there that don't experience the same results. So I wouldn't want to mislead you and think the only way you can know for sure is by trying it out. Maybe you could look at the refund policy if it doesn't work out for you. I wish I could be more of help. Feel free to come back and let me know what you found if you end up trying it out! I would love to hear back. Cheers!
@ Thanks for getting back, I think I’m gonna give it a shot in the near future, but the other thing was my internet connection. I don’t have a Ethernet cable and my internet speed isn’t great so I was wondering if the latency is going to be the same on virtual desktop as quest link? If that makes sense. Thanks once again!
I could tell right away that you are an expert in this tool. Can you tell me if there is any way to reduce the FOV? I am asking because I use a link cable and I have the option to reduce the FOV to around 70%, which allows me to force a more aggressive super sampling resolution. I use it exclusively for PCVR in flight simulators, and forcing the resolution above the native resolution is almost mandatory to have good sharpness on the cockpit panels/screens. Is there any option in the virtual desktop to reduce the FOV?
Thanks a bunch! And I don't think that's possible in Virtual Desktop, unfortunately. Since you do mostly sims, I would say the link cable is still your best bet. But if you do other games that require more moving around in your play space, then Virtual Desktop is definitely the best way to go for those, in my opinion.
Try connect directly your quest to your PC WiFi hot spot, working really well for me.
