Or when you try to get ANY rolls of half dollars you're told you MUST order them by the $500.00 box, but please DO NOT return the box. You see someone has to re-count and re-roll those coins before they're credited in your account and the banks don't want that responsibility. You can pickup and drop off at different locations, but that doesn't last long either. Ultimately, you'll end up trying to pay for all your expenses with half dollars to get them back in circulation. Then you discover Coinstar and pay their 9% fee to play your game, BUT you must find SOME silver to be able to pay your 9% fee to break even. When you start losing money, you'll stop playing. Now that's for the common guy, how RobFindsTreasure does it, I don't know.

Same, watching a old man nut about coin unboxings for 30 minutes is my new ideal night I think, I dunno I’ve watched 2 videos the entertainment might not last
Two weeks ago health and weather kept me from metal detecting and the weekend was projected to be constant rain. My wife suggested I buy a box of halves. At the bank they said they had 2 boxes so I bought one. The wife helped me and what a box. 2’64 Kennedy’s, a ‘53 Franklin and a ‘42 Walker. All were in great shape. And we found 13 40% coins and a couple dozen proofs and uncirculated Kennedies. Monday bought the second box. ‘40 Walker and a ‘46 Walker which appears uncirculated. Another 11 40% coins and 26 uncirculated and 2 proofs. Also 5 errors including 2 no FGs. Best boxes I’ve ever had.
My dad would give me his silver dollars and 50 cent pice to put in a piggy bank to save. I could tell when he had one in his pocket by the sound they made. I still have some to this day. Every time I here that sound it puts a smile on my face and think of the good times.
This video reminds me of the night I found silver consistently throughout a box and ended up with 72 of them. Very close to an even split of 90% and 40%. It's just an amazing feeling as you well know! Congrats on such a great box. I'm glad it ranks 3rd I think for you now with those two boxes you racked up over 200 silvers in not long after this.
For those asking about box value, just running some google found numbers... The '66s to '69s are $3-$5 each, the '64 and the proofs are $7-$15 each, NIFCs are face value. So roughly anywhere from $460 - $1,040 value above the $400 face value of the coins.
These videos are great, mostly because of his energy and enthusiasm about his finds... I don't care what the value is, he presents it like he found million bucks and it's great.... :)

Jesus Christ all of you guys are wrong. For just regular circulated 90% halfs you're looking at about spot prices which is $6 and change if you find some key date walking Liberty's or Barbers then yes there is more to it. 40 percenters are going to be worth at least their spot in silver. Which is about $2.60 at the moment. I will buy 40% for $0.50 a piece all day long by the thousands of dollars bring them to me. To the guy that replied yes 1970 is 40% silver that is the last year they did it. They did not make them for circulation though so if you did find one it came out of a mint set.
I started this when i was 9, I'm 60 now. Have my own gun and coin store with eclectic things civil war sword and cool stuff. I still buy boxes and go thru the boxes. I just bought a box of dollars from bank, they wanted to get rid of a case of Ike dollars. Been there awhile.US BANK maybe worth 500 dollars with MS 63 64 and Varieties. I remove wheaties and coppers every week. Copper Profits are about 60 plus a week. I switched to a weight separator and can double that to 120 a week. Not bad for a retired coin dealer.
I live in a country that's as far away from the US as it gets, but this channel I watch religiously. If I ever get to live in the US, this is going to be my hobby....
looking at this video now in 2021...while searching 5 boxes and only find 2 silver...makes me happy for you and SICK and jealous and cant watch anymore lol cause it is tooooo gooood
This reminds me of my best box ever it was very similar to this one. It was a single box with 18 enders and I pulled a total of 187 40% silvers (almost 20% of box) from that one box and not a single 90% silver. The only reasonable explanation I came up with is someone passed and their family members saw these piles of halves and probably thought "if they aren't before 64 their only worth face" and they returned all the 40s to a coin machine not knowing they contained silver. Not many people know there are silver coins out there and even fewer know that halves from 65-70 where 40% silver they only know that pre-64 contain silver. Crazy hunt! Congrats man!
Correction...not many people "knew"...they do now thanks to videos like these! I still don't get it though. I mean if this was an epic day hunting and he only made $300 then it certainly isn't about money. Must just be about the hobby of it all. I myself prefer making things through wood and metal working.
Besides family not knowing after a family member has past, many coins are stolen and they will use coin counting vending machines to get them off their person and get bills for what drugs and such they need. My wife works for a credit union and she always calls me when they get strange coins and bills. One time an old lady came in and traded Morgan 1800's silver dollars for bills. I still have ten of the best ones she turned in.
I’m gonna agree with some of the comments....a lot of us stumbled across this channel and are intrigued to know the values of some the collections..... Could you please give an estimate value of your funds at the end? Just a thought
He had one 90% coin, so 70 times 2.50 equals $175.00 dollars plus $5.50 equals $180.50 total. Remember silver prices change by the minute so this total is an approx. AT THIS TIME. This is extremely RARE for a person to find this many silver coins in 2000 half dollars. He even says 21 finds was his best ever. Some will say he "salted" the rolls, but from my 50 years experience, I believe he was truthful. It CAN and DOES happen, we just saw it. Now comes the part that I HATE. Giving Coinstar $90.00 (9% of the total 2000 half dollars) to assimilate the coins back into currency. Just part of doing business or playing the game.
what a great video and always love watching a video that is 30 minutes long like better then 10 min videos gets me more interested even though I know it can be difficult to make longer videos
Love your energy and enthusiasm. As a viewer I don't know coins as well as you and would love to know why you're enthusiastic about it. Is it just a rare coin? or is it very valuable, does it complete your set? Material value? Rarity of finding it? I don't need much, maybe some on screen text that can explain?
Half dollars minted 1965-1969 are 40% silver Half dollars 1964 and earlier are 90% silver N.I.F.C means Not Intended For Circulation Proof means the coin was struck to be in much better condition and given a more reflective surface Key date means not many were minted that particular year making it rarer
@@nickkellam9155 Thanks for the response. Are the ones with 40% or 90% more valuable because of the fact that they are coins? Or is it just the precious metals making them valuable?
@@Scott_C They are slightly more valuable because they are coins but most of the value is in the silver content. But as you start to get older half dollars (i.e 1800s ones) they become more valuable as a coin.
If you look at the sheer numbers of coins that were minted, there are very few American coins from the 20th century that are worth much more than face value. For example, at least 10 million (and for some dates/mint marks, more than 100M) half dollar coins were produced each year through 2002, and they aren't really even used in daily life. For something like a penny, the numbers are in the 100's of millions to billions per mint mark per year. Of course the older coins in great condition go for more, but most of the ones in this video have value solely because of their 40% silver content. There are others that are valuable because they have some sort of mistake or happen to come from an unusual time/place.
The dream box of a lifetime! Congratulations! What a great video. As long as you pull Silver like that.. I'll watch all day, don't worry about the time. A big Thumbs Up my friend !
Yesterday i found 3 floonting boonters, and 7, yes 7 blinpton pinders. Yes! You heard me right! What a find! Yeah, i feel the same watching this video.
When you are opening that much SILVER, there's no need to apologize for it going long at all. I guess the 65's and the 70's felt left out! With all those 68's and few 67's and 69's, with a couple of 66's, absolutely incredible!!! Have a GREAT Day!!!
Wow Rob! I watched half of this video when I first got started and didn't believe it until I got my Epic Box. 70 Silvers! Thats crazy.. but only 1 90% now I know why you commented on my box :) makes a 1 silver box become depressing lol.
Awesome video! I love coin roll hunting. I have a book of 40% silver I found 65 through 70 and I think I’m up to 45 total found, as well as a proof Kennedy. As well as probably a dozen 1964. Can’t find many banks around here that have rolls in stock other than a chase bank off loop 288 in Denton, but they don’t ever have anything good
It's funny that I've always had an interest in coins but never knew this type of hunting was a thing...bout to go buy me some boxes of coins at the bank...
Wow, so lucky! I recently found zero silver in a recent box search. I had not searched in years and had always found silver. U give me hope they are still out there.
Again bro, Cost vs value vs melt would make this video so much more interesting. It's not just about finding silver or rare coins for most viewers its about, hey what's that worth - should I be looking too if it's worth X amount vs my time ? Just my 50 cents, would love to know $$$$$ in future.
Okay, this was superb! But you left a very important detail out....what the heck are they all worth? If you tell us the total value...this would be great!!!
The 40% silver coins are about $2.2 piece melt value as of today, could be more valuable in the future, those proofs are maybe $10-20. So probably in the neighbourhood of $150-200 for coins that have face value of less than 40$, not expert on those proofs so not 100% sure. Fun looking hobby though.
@@redX111t So, after going to the bank, unrolling and repackaging, he spent probably 4 hrs. and made $175.00 or $45/hr. - not bad, but then you have to sell them at a discount to get rid of them --- or melt them which takes a boat load of time and investment, so I would guess he made closer to $20/hr.
Well... not quite sure what or how you know which ones are good without looking, but you were having so much fun and excitement that I watched til the end...! Needless to say, Have a great day ! 😊
I was traveling once and was coin roll hunting for halves in every town I came across. One little town in utah had only one bank. I asked if the had some half dollars and the lady who was leaning on her hand said "Silver ones?" And I said "Sure, Why not" so the lady retrieved about 60 of those plastic tubes you had your halves in and said she had more and did I want them. I said I will take all the halves she had and any other coins from whoever brought in the halves. I ended up leaving with almost 100 tubes of 64 and earlier halves. I had rolls of silver dimes, quarters, and about 20 morgan dollars, all 1921. I was shaking for an hour but I was disappointed because I only had enough money to buy a few rolls of halves at a time.
Rob, NO apologies needed, that 38 minutes flew by watching you get silver after silver. MEGA EPIC is right, and I don't throw around the EPIC word too much. How about ASTONISHING! Don't want to jinx you, but that was the box of a lifetime! BIG Congrats. AND- My initials ARE R C, so if you wanna trade another NIFC for that one, or a roll of 2017 mint pennies, just let me know. Again, HUGE congrats. It was fun watching while eating my Atkins diet breakfast of 3 eggs, sausage & ham!!!! LOL Rob 2
Wow! Congrats, man on the finds! You are super lucky to find that kind of silver in 2018! It's been extremely sloooow for me. Good luck and happy hunting!
I would love for you to comment on why certain coins are so special/rare and what all the abbreviations are. This is fascinating to watch, but I would like to learn more about the coins you find!
Wow!!! It's just unbelievable man! As a (UK) coin collector, I wish to have a same experience in finding silver coins, but it's almost impossible here. :-( :'(
Congrats Rob, Dude. I CRH Halves. I am on a box now, only opened 10 rolls so far and have found 30 painted coins. 20 of them are Barak Obama ones. Ever find them? I do a LIVE Stream every Saturday at 8pm EST and go through halves for people. I am saving 5 rolls per Saturdayfor the next 8 weeks. I wonder how many more we will find. Stop by and say hi if you want. Last year I pulled 245 silvers and 49 Proofs + painted, Holed, Stamped, Ben's, Walkers, etc out of 104 boxes. Huge congrats on this box, just amazing. My best was 33 in one box.
I would like to know profit and why the excitement about some of them. Silver is cool no matter what but more info would be nice. Still a good video just add the chaching!!! At the end lol😉
Back in 1991 I was getting my usual lunch. I decided to hit the bank next door. The lady had 2 brown total wrap rolls, I bought them both. 1st roll was all 70s/80s halves. The next roll felt heavier so I carefully opened it while having my lunch with my brother and I let out the loudest "YES!" when I emptied the roll in my hand. It was mostly Franklins, 2 64 JFKs and at least 5 Walkers. I have NEVER EVER had another roll like that, not even a roll with more than 3 silvers. That will always be my greatest find.
I had to come back to my favorite hunting video to share with everyone that I finally after dozens and dozens of boxes I finally hit a collection dump just like this yesterday. I finally got to experience the feeling of roll after roll of silver lol. 14 90% and 15 40% coins 29 coins total. Not AS good as this video but damn what a rush! My heart was pumping for hours hahaha.
I had a box like this yesterday and you beat me by 10 silvers. I had 60 40% kennedys and two 1972 proofs, 5 enders with one having one on both sides. I had two rolls with 5 silvers in them and i had one that was truly amazing. It had 7 40% and a 1972 proof all in one roll. Its like the holy grail of boxes. Hopefully both of us find more! Great video!!!
Back in the early `70s, I operated a string of vending machines, and pulled plenty of silver out of them. There was a small food market in my neighborhood that was paying ten times the face value of silver coins (!), I miss those days !
Wow man,and people say this is a waste of time. Silver is down now but even then' you made $215 dollars. I'll waste my time like that all day long. lol gratz on a Great hunt.
I’m not sure they are sold for scrap I think they are sold because of their silver content. It’s not that they want the silver to turn it into other things I think it’s just because it is made of silver meaning it’s worth more. I’m not sure how much they are but they are definitely more than $0.50. I’m sure many collectors love to buy silver half dollars.
@@daltonlanders9368 It's definitely for the silver content. Each of the silver half dollars are worth about $2 in today's silver price. They were worth around $6 a few years ago. So if he found 70 of them, in today's price, he made $150. Not bad!
I subscribed this morning and I am already hooked, having watched about a dozen videos already!! This video wasn't too long - it was just fun hearing the excitement in your voice as it just kept getting better! As a viewer from Manchester, England, and not that familiar with your coins, could you please answer a few questions for me? What does NIFC mean? How much is a 40% worth compared to a 90%? Do you buy a box, go through it, and then roll them all up and return it to the Bank to get another one? I can't wait for your next new video! Thanks.
Just found this channel, and wow is this addicting to watch for some reason. I don't even really collect besides wheat pennies. I just like money alot lol
I just spent 20 minutes looking up what an ender was and I couldn’t find an answer. I figured out that it was the end of the roll and I feel kind of stupid now
Hey, I'm WITH you! 👍 I can't figure what diff it makes WHERE in the roll you find the silver one, but HE gets excited when it's on the end, so I do too. Maybe it's somehow predictive of what's going to be in the roll. Statistically, what's on either end is about as predictive of the rest of the contents as a rat's a$$ is, but his enthusiasm is ADDICTIVE! 😎

Thanks for the info. So why so many 68's?
Its 1965 to 1969. Not 1970. 1970's are copper...
Where can one get boxes of these half dollars?

I started this when i was 9, I'm 60 now. Have my own gun and coin store with eclectic things civil war sword and cool stuff. I still buy boxes and go thru the boxes. I just bought a box of dollars from bank, they wanted to get rid of a case of Ike dollars. Been there awhile.US BANK maybe worth 500 dollars with MS 63 64 and Varieties. I remove wheaties and coppers every week. Copper Profits are about 60 plus a week. I switched to a weight separator and can double that to 120 a week. Not bad for a retired coin dealer.
Nice! Sounds fun lol
Check for 1972-D & 1982 with no initials on Reverse, they are worth more than 200 90% silvers!
MS64 Morgans Great story! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by! It was a fun hunt for sure!

Question. Why do people do this? Do they compare it to the price of silver today and then sell it? What’s the benefit?
The 90% is worth around$ 5.55 melt value
Silver prices go up and down daily. Today a 1964 Kennedy is worth $5.55 and a 1967 Kennedy is worth 40% of that.
@@bentnickel7487 so he made 400$ off silver at least problay
mr anderson I count 70 40% coins. At about $2.50 each, that's about $175.00 Maybe he had some 90% coins, I didn't notice.
This video was so rewarding to watch. It always make me feel good to see success. Thanks for posting it.
unreal how most of them were 1968 and a bunch in nice condition...your % win rate for silver was killer
Half dollars minted 1965-1969 are 40% silver
Half dollars 1964 and earlier are 90% silver
N.I.F.C means Not Intended For Circulation
Proof means the coin was struck to be in much better condition and given a more reflective surface
Key date means not many were minted that particular year making it rarer

Wow Rob! I watched half of this video when I first got started and didn't believe it until I got my Epic Box. 70 Silvers! Thats crazy.. but only 1 90% now I know why you commented on my box :) makes a 1 silver box become depressing lol.

Wow, so lucky! I recently found zero silver in a recent box search. I had not searched in years and had always found silver. U give me hope they are still out there.
Again bro,
Cost vs value vs melt would make this video so much more interesting. It's not just about finding silver or rare coins for most viewers its about, hey what's that worth - should I be looking too if it's worth X amount vs my time ?
Just my 50 cents, would love to know $$$$$ in future.
Coin roll hunting isn’t very profitable, but very fun! If you want to make money in coin collecting, find rare coins other ways and resell them
Okay, this was superb!

Rob: *opens roll of halves*
1968 half: "I am inevitable"
OMG! What a great story! I would have fainted after she said "I have more and would you like them?" WOW - thanks for sharing!
I'm new to this but what do you do with them

I had two rolls with 5 silvers in them and i had one that was truly amazing. It had 7 40% and a 1972 proof all in one roll. Its like the holy grail of boxes. Hopefully both of us find more! Great video!!!
Awesome video Rob! Your channel has gotten be obsessed with my own collecting
Back in the early `70s, I operated a string of vending machines, and pulled plenty of silver out of them. There was a small food market in my neighborhood that was paying ten times the face value of silver coins (!), I miss those days !
That's a lot of silver.
You are very lucky.
Wow man,and people say this is a waste of time. Silver is down now but even then' you made $215 dollars. I'll waste my time like that all day long. lol gratz on a Great hunt.
Thank you!
@@RobFindsTreasure Do you take them to a shop that melts 'em down? I've only done that with gold, never silver (price was even lower then).
So why do you do this? Do you sell then for scrap? I'm intrigued but struggling as to the purpose
Pretty sure it’s for coin collectors
@@daltonlanders9368 It's definitely for the silver content. Each of the silver half dollars are worth about $2 in today's silver price. They were worth around $6 a few years ago.
